Hi I am looking at getting an accessible thermostat and obviously it will need to have the accessible app with it. I have been advised by our gas company which is British Gas that the hive app is accessible with voice-over on iOS. Anyone have experience using this how accessible is it? Alternatively , is there any other thermostats and apps that are better and will work fully with voice-over with the iPhone.

Hi. I've recently gotten back into fitness and running. Someone on here recommended the blue beets wireless scale which is working great. I was wondering if someone knows of a good accessible running device or application for iPhone 6. What I'm trying to do is be able to tell how fast I am running with live updates. So for example, I would be able to tell that my pace is about a 10 or 11 minute mile well I am running. One of my running guides has a Watch that gives him up to the second information. Does anyone know of any applications or devices that do this for blind people?

Hi guys.
Wonder if you could help?
been looking in to getting a set of smart bathroom scales and wondering if anyone has tried the Eufy ones and if so do they know if the scales and app are accessible?
I’ve tried downloading the app and the registration process is accessible at least. But as I don’t own the scales I can’t tell I accessing the different metrics will also be.
Other options are the Kardeobace 2 scales but they are twice the price, it’s not a deal breaker but the really bad reviews on amazon is a little more concerning.

Does anybody use a smart lock with a tactile keypad. If not how have you labeled the touchpad? I live in an area where the weather is hot cold damp and dry so I need something that works in all the weather for labeling. Looking for a smart lock that works with iPhone and without iPhone. Thank you! Sa

Hi. I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a smart scale for me. I am totally blind and use a MacBook Pro and an iPhone. I'm looking for a scale that will be able to tell my weight, body fat percentage, and bmi. Obviously it needs an integrated application that will work. I don't mind spending around 100 or $150 if those skills work very well, but I would preferred to spend less if possible. Thanks a lot.

Hello,
I currently use the Smart Chef kitchen scale from Reflex for making coffee as well as with my espresso machine. The app’s accessible and everything, but the spoken announcement of the measurement as you pour is on the laggy side. Therefore, I’m in search of a more responsive and accessible alternative.

GIven in i/watch/tvOS 10, we no longer have to be concerned with third-party HomeKit apps with varying-level of VoiceoVer accessibility.

I was wondering if there has been consideration for a repro/dir, where we can submit, view, and comment on our accessibility experience of HomeKit hardware accessories?

I could also see this forum being able to provide eyes-free tips and tricks of setup and usage of HomeKit hardware accessories.

What do you think?

Greetings everyone
while looking for a glucose counter, our doctor recommended Freestyle librelink. It works with a sensor that is on your body at a maximum of 14 days, and a scanner that is being used to transfer data from the sensor to eat using NFC technology. I was told the scanner has a touch screen, but it can also connect to an iPhone or mark in conjunction with apps that are available in certain countries on the App Store.

Hello,
I've just moved into a new apartment where the heat is controlled by a lower-end Honeywell thermostat. The building management has given me the green light to replace this with a smart thermostat, which will make life easier. (I could use some guidance on which products are most accessible, however.

Hello all, hope all is well.
Was just on the internet and came across some products by Ring, such as their alarm system, lights, cameras, etc. Have any of you heard or tried these products out? I do have two Ring Doorbell's, which work really well with the Ring app since thats accessible, so I"m assuming the other products should work with Voiceover.
For those curious, here are some links to things mentioned earlier in this post.

People are wearing those fitness bracelets. Is there a specific bracelet and App that would go along with it for the iPhone that would be accessible? Thanks. I am interested in bike riding. Is there anything out there that can measure the distance you have ridden on a stationary bike as well as a tandem bike?

Hi everyone
I am in the market for a new home theatre receiver, and I would like to find one that is accessible for me as a blind user. I know that many TVs have screen readers for the various menus, and some can be independently set up. However, I am not aware of any receivers with this functionality. Are any of you aware of a receiver that either offers a built in screen reader for the various menu items, or has an accessible IOS app that would allow for independent set up and adjustment.
Thanks for any help or advice that you can provide.

Hi All,

Just wondering whether anyone knows of an accurate (and of course accessible) kitchen scales. I'll be using it to measure weights of various different things but accuracy is very important. I have seen reviews on this site from back in 2019 but no updates on improvements to accessibility have been noted. Lastly: Only interested in products available in Europe. A bluetooth connection would be preferred to the phone.

thanks for any info.

Hello,

I know this topic has been brought up before, but I am seeking recommendations for accessible alarm systems for the blind either through a web interface or IOS. I tested the Alarm.com app through a demo account, and the app did not seem that usable. There were a lot of unlabeled buttons. Does anyone know of a completely accessible security system, or if it even exists? How accessible is the ADT Pulse app?
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Nathan.

Hi, just wondering if anyone on here has any experience of accessible smart locks and if so is there a particular one you would recommend? Preferably something that works well on iOS with voiceover. I am in the UK.
