Accessibility of Honeywell thermostats/apps

Hello,
I've just moved into a new apartment where the heat is controlled by a lower-end Honeywell thermostat. The building management has given me the green light to replace this with a smart thermostat, which will make life easier. (I could use some guidance on which products are most accessible, however.

I believe I'm limited to Honeywell products because that's what was in place throughout my building (correct me if this assumption is wrong). Are there particular thermostats that function better than others? How's the Honeywell IOS app? Is it accessible? Anything else I need to keep in mind?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,
I don't know about honeywell, but I've heard on here that the nest app is rarely usable with VO. I honestly don't have a smart thermostat, I've got the VIP talking one and for my needs it works just as well as a smart thermostat. My view is hey, what if the WIFI network goes offline for any reason and I want to check the temp in the house. Like I said, for my needs the VIP thermostat works well for me. I think the honeywell app is rarely usable, but might wanna check from other users.

We had a Honeywell for about a year and loved it. Our system went out and we had to buy a new heating/cooling unit, so was forced to use a different WIFI thermostat. The Honeywell Wifi app we had was totally accessible. More so than the Lynus one we have now. I highly recommend the Honeywell app.

Hello,
My home is fitted with a Honeywell RTH9580 thermostat. The thermostat itself is not accessible and required sighted assistance to setup. Since the initial setup it has not required any further attention. The companion ios app is fully accessible and pretty easy to use.
I think this particular thermostat has been superceded with newer models so I'm not sure if the accessibility has changed.
I seem to remember that the app had a demo mode that allowed me to evaluate it prior to purchasing the thermostat.

Oh thanks Marie! That's really, really great to hear. I was considerably more concerned about the app than the thermostat itself, so it sounds like I can put those fears to rest. Thanks for your feedback! And sorry your current system isn't working out as well.

Thanks a lot Frank. Sighted assistance for setup is available, so I'm less concerned about that than about maintenance and functionality once installed. From what you say, that shouldn't be an issue. Thanks for weighing in.
