Hello everyone,
Because the official Telegram client is completely inaccessible to us blind users, I decided—with the help of the Codex AI—to create my own Telegram client that is fully accessible with VoiceOver.
Unfortunately, I have run into several critical bugs that I’m not able to solve on my own. First of all, I need to clearly emphasize that I am not a programmer—I have virtually no programming knowledge at all.
Even so, I tried to create something that will help all of us who are blind and make using Telegram pleasant and convenient.
Has anyone been able to create a Siri Shortcut to add a Contact (first name, last name, phone number) - since apple doesn't allow that using Siri? I saw one video that was created 2 years ago, but it's out of date and the instructions don't work with my iPhone 14. I've searched the web and can't find this anywhere, but it seems like something a programmer might have figured out by now.
Hi all,
I am a VoiceOver user and I am learning about iOS app development. I have been trying to add images from Finder into a image set in the images.xcasset asset catalogs but failed. My textbook reads "Now add the images themselves to the image (set) item by dragging each image from the Finder to the image detail box. Drag graph.png to the spot labeled 1x, graph@2x.png to the 2x slot, and graph@3x.png to the 3x slot."
Hello!
I'm a developer and one of my blind users gave me some wonderful feedback for my app, Please Don't Rain. He asked for a way to save your favorite locations that you like to look up the weather for.
I show the favorites in a list and I made sure that you can reorder them with drag and drop with VoiceOver enabled. Here's some feedback he gave me:
Hey all,
I'm curious if anyone here has built mobile apps using tools like Glide, Thunkable, Adalo, or Bubble — the no-code or low-code platforms.
Most tutorials and projects I’ve seen involve coding, but I’m hoping to hear from other blind devs who’ve tried these visual/no-code tools. Were they accessible with VoiceOver? Did you run into major issues? Or did you just go with traditional coding?
I’m thinking about building something for others to use, but I want to know what works best from an accessibility standpoint. Would love your insight.
Thanks!
Hi folks, I am a (sighted) software engineer, and I am working on a next generation screen reader for Mac called Typeahead AI. The website isn't up-to-date because I've changed directions in the last few weeks, but I want to build a "Jarvis"-like experience of telling your computer what to do with simple voice/text commands.
Hello,
I am trying to make my apps more accessible, and would appreciate any tips from voiceover users on how to best suit them.
I have a button that, when pressed using a short tap, behaves as normal, but when it is pressed for a long time, reveals two additional buttons.
I was wondering two things:
1 - Should VoiceOver hints announce that there are (possible) additional buttons? When, once they are deployed or when entering focus on the master button?
2 - Which gesture, if any, should I use for this? Magic Tap? How do I advertise this?
Hello, everyone.
I have seen several apps in the app store lately that teach basic coding, but everything I have downloaded has been graphics-based. For example, one of the Khan Academy coding challenges required the user to guide the character through a maze using code commands, but the maze was not described.
Are there any Voice Over accessible iOS apps that teach coding skills?
Thanks for any recommendations!
Hi, so I want to dip my feet into coding in swift, and I just started swift playgrounds. I find the whole guiding your character from one place to another very overwhelming, and I don’t feel like I’m completely understanding what I’m supposed to input for the code. Everything I tried had an issue. One moment,I’m being told I have to separate consecutive codes with a semicolon, and then I’m being told not to input a semicolon. Bottom line, i don’t know what I’m doing. I’m not completely giving up or anything, but is there another accessible way to learn swift I can try?
I’m learning how to code and I wanted to know if anyone has completed the levels including Xcode. Have you made any games or apps? Can you please share any tips and tricks on how to use this resource.
Hi all,
I have a visually impaired friend who is very interested in becoming a programmer, and/or app development. He is currently enrolled in a local community college taking general classes.
Is anyone here a blind programmer? If so, would you be open to advising my friend? If so, please email me, (Stewart), at: StewOverbey@outlook.com
Thanks so much.
Hi there,
I'm installing Yosemite just now... Does someone know anything about new X Code? I've read Swift programing language manuals and sounds very, very interesting... Do you know about new programing IDE, is it more, less or exactly as accessible ass the old one?
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
I'm looking to set up an FTP server on my late-2014 Mac Mini, & don't really want to go mucking round in the Terminal to do it. True, I used to mess with MS DOS, as most of us probably did, but that was about 16 years ago, which seems like eons now.
I've looked at a number of possibilities:
For $40, CrushFTP seemed like a great choice, but after dinking round with it's web interface, I concluded it was not very user-friendly.
After seeing a post here about someone having some success with app devs, I am curious to know who else has success contacting app developers and if any of them have agreed to make accessibility changes. I have contacted some game developers with no success, in particular the devs of Sim City Build It and Your Story.
dear developers
i need your guide to improve app accessibility
when i read text from it VO read all book chapter from tope to buttm not line by line when fliking right / left as usual ...
i just need accessibility teps to help our developer team to solve the problem.
