The story and release of Knight Commander.

Forum
iOS and iPadOS Gaming

Hello Apple Vis forum
Knight Commander has just been approved for the App Store.
It has been a real struggle to get it their as I seem to have broken almost
all of the guidelines that are set out for developers to follow.

The game is not as far forward as i would like as i have
been busy for the last 2 weeks to get it approved.

As with most of my apps and games they get a whole lot better
when released and people support them.

Thank you to all the people who joined in on the beta testing and gave
good feedback.
Hopefully i now have a core of people who will test future apps.

As for promo codes I have decided who will get one so please do not ask.

As ever all feedback is very welcome.

My guys just returned from hunting with 60 meat, and then my low battery 20% alert popped up and when I went back into the game it put me back to before they went on the hunrting trip. Is that normal?

Also, can anyone confirm if the speed boost from shoes are working or not? I may be wrong but even when I had 50 shoes I didn't notice things going any faster.

I have upgraded my shop to level two. I have a REALLY stupid question.
Are you getting ten gold once or do you get that several times? I am new to this and am autistic so have some issues catching up.,

Hello Sabrina
You get 10 gold for every shop you build.
You only get the gold when you have built it.

By Sabrina on Monday, August 27, 2018 - 02:19

How many quests are there actually at the moment?

By John from Wood… on Monday, August 27, 2018 - 02:19

In reply to by Sabrina

Quests are generated by the code.

When a quest can no longer be completed it is replaced.

To attempt a quest you must tap on it you can not change your mind.

To claim your quest you must sell the amount of the quest item in the time shown and then return to he quest screen.

Hello

I enjoy this game. It is fantastic.
I have a question about stonebox.

I made it, stone increase.
I sold the boxes, but stone is same that I had boxes.
I wonder if I made tolls once,
Even I sold, they can use before selling.

By Sabrina on Monday, August 27, 2018 - 02:19

Now this game rocks even more when I understand it better.
I still cannot find where to customize people though. I have looked at the bottom of the shop.
Lol I failed my first quest. Haha. I need to build things up a bit before I do the quests I think because right now I am kind of basic and I need to raise energy and time and such things.

By Sabrina on Monday, August 27, 2018 - 02:19

Can the people really be on a strike? Because I have never seen that. lol.

By privatetai on Monday, August 27, 2018 - 02:19

"
You get 10 gold for every shop you build.
You only get the gold when you have built it."

That makes me sad, I thought you build shop and that'll give bonus to when you sell items.
Also, do market stalls do anything? It says to help sale but my items are selling same price even after 10 stalls.

By Iamriley on Monday, August 27, 2018 - 02:19

This game sounds really fun and I wish I could afford it

By privatetai on Monday, August 27, 2018 - 02:19

Are item prices suppose to change randomly? One time I can sell 30 fish for 500 gold, so I went out to get a bunch of them and only got 500 gold for 500 fish!

By Shersey on Monday, August 27, 2018 - 02:19

This is going to sound weird, but I'm having the following issue. I'm trying to get enough resources to build the sawmill, so that I can build planks, so that I can build the sheds. I have enough bricks. Wow, did I ever go nuts building those lol. I accidentally looked at the wrong building and thought I needed 100 bricks to build the sawmill. Anyhow, I've been sending my people out to gather wood, because I have enough bricks and the stone knife, but no matter how many times they go out, my wood only says x8. Should I be looking for the amount I have on the people screen, once I've selected someone to do a task? Does that make sense? Basically, it seems like the only way to see how much raw resources you have is to select a person, then flick through the tasks; you'll hear something like water x13, or wood x8. So, is this right? Why the heck is my wood not increasing? Other things are increasing, like stone and water and food. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,
Shersey

Hello,

First, I would like to apologize for this post, I believe that it will be a lengthy one. I also hope that you will all forgive me if I just jump right to it.

Let's take the selling of items in your inventory first. I'll use would and water for example. Wood sells for 6 gold, and water sells for 4 gold each. Apparently, the more you sell, the less gold you will get, and vice versa, the more you use, the more gold you will get. I have not tested this for every item, but based on this, I would guess that it is the same for everything you sell or use. If you sell enough wood and water, you will eventually get only 1 gold for them. Now, if you want to bring the sale price of items back up, you will have to create something with those items. Again, using wood and water for example. Let's say that you're only getting 1 gold each for wood and water. To bring the sale price of those items back up, you will have to create a bucket of water which requires 1 would and 1 water. I must say that I have created a lot of them also... I've made one bucket of water at a time, or 100 at a time. I have had virtually no success in bringing the sale price of wood and water back to 6 and 4 gold respectively either.

When it comes to the shop, and you want to purchase upgrades, the pricing does go up exponentially the more you purchase. I believe that I understand the pricing scheme here, the more you have, the more you pay. I will use increase energy, and expand warehouse as examples here. When you increase your energy, the more you pay. I actually understand this as you get more energy rather than a fixed amount of energy. You start with 250 Energy... when you purchase your first energy upgrade, you get 62 more energy. When you purchase your second energy upgrade, you get 78 more energy rather than 62, and so on. When you expand the warehouse, again the more you pay. In this case, you're getting a fixed amount of warehouse storage. You start with 100, then each subsequent upgrade gives you 100 more storage for your warehouse. Your first upgrade costs 200 gold, then your second upgrade costs 400 gold, and so on... however, as I've said, you only get 100 more storage added to your warehouse with every upgrade.

This kind of economy seems OK in the very early stages of the game. However, let's say you've been playing for about 2 months, you have about 20 people whom have roughly 3000 energy and 15 minutes of time, you also have roughly 2500 slots in your warehouse. With the prices of items in your inventory fluctuating based on what you sell and what you use, as well as the prices of upgrades you purchase in the shop going up based on what you have rather than what you are getting... it seems like it would be very difficult to make any progress in the game if you decided to play long term. Maybe I'm not playing it correctly, perhaps I need to build more buildings in the town.

I'd like to talk about the town for a moment, though it may take longer than that. Building a lot of the buildings there and upgrading them is actually worth it, you get something for your effort. However, building the shop is something I don't understand. I've done the math on it, if I were to sell the items required to build a shop in town, I'd actually get more for the resources rather than what the shop would give me in return for the effort. You get a one time payout of 10 gold when you build the shop in town. Now, let's say you wanted to sell the resources required to build the shop, let's also assume that you've never sold any items in your inventory. You would get 260 gold for selling the wood and brick required to build a shop in town... additionally, if you sold a lot of wood and brick, you would still get 20 gold for selling those resources needed to build the shop rather than the 10 gold you would receive for actually building it.

Here are some things I'd love to see changed if possible. There are 2 things actually, maybe 3. First and foremost is a balancing of the economy. I can think of 3 ways to do this. First is to change the way the prices fluctuate when you sell items from your inventory... instead of having the sale price of items go all the way down to one gold after selling them frequently, The price could be reduced to 50%. I'll use wood for example, let's say that you sell a lot of wood, instead of bringing the price down to 1 gold, perhaps it can go no lower than 3 gold. Additionally, the price for purchasing upgrades in the shop could be slightly reduced as well. Second, you could leave the sale price of items in your inventory the same regardless of how often, or how many you sell or use. Additionally, you could leave the price for upgrades in the shop as is. Third, you could leave the fluctuating prices of the items you sell or use in your inventory as is. Additionally, you can change the price of upgrades in the shop drastically. For example, maybe some of the prices in the shop could be fixed... recruit person could be 1500 gold, add time could be 600 gold, expand warehouse could be 400 gold. The price to increase energy could be changed to how much energy you actually get... as I've mentioned above, the amount of energy you get when you increase your energy is not fixed. Your first upgrade gets you 62 Energy which could have a price of 186 gold, your second upgrade gets you 78 energy which could have a price of 234 gold... and so on based on the subsequent increases in energy per upgrade. Feed all your people could be reduced to 250 gold per person, so if you start with 4 people, it should cost you 1000 gold. Sing lullaby could be reduced in price to 100 gold per person, again, you start with 4 people which would make the price at 400 gold. The second thing I'd love to see get changed is when you build a shop in town. Based on what I've mentioned above, there is no real incentive when it comes to building the shop other than having it. Let's assume that the economy won't change, it's too complicated to implement or something. It would be great if you could get either 200 gold and 10 gold an hour for building the shop in town, or getting just 10 gold an hour for building the shop would be great. The third thing I'd love to see is some kind of cloud save feature... this would hopefully prevent any loss of data during future game updates. Lastly, I would love to see some accessibility and some minor UI changes. On the people screen, it would be great if you could 3-finger swipe left and right to change between people. On the task, inventory, hospital, quest, resources, food, town, tools, and war screens... again, it would be great to 3-finger swipe either left or right, or up and down to scroll through the items quickly so you can make a choice a bit faster. It would be great if personalize your people were moved from the shop screen to the people scream, additionally, merging personalize your people and equipping weapons into one screen would make things more efficient. It would also be wonderful if start war could be moved from the shop screen to the people scream, this would make it easier since if you fail to start a war, you're automatically thrown back to the people screen anyway.

Time to verify and report some bucks. I can verify that if the game is interrupted via a low battery warning, or a phone call, significant game progress is lost... banner notifications do not appear to affect the game though. I can verify that on the task screen, when you double tap and hold or long press on the get water and gather stones task, The game does crash... I will also add that the game does crash when you do the same thing to forage for food and collect wood. When you go to the food, town, tools, and war screens, if you double tap on help, nothing appears. This next thing may not be a bug I think, but it can be a problem for blind players. When you go to the options screen and select resources, food, Town, tools, and war under show details for... you get one large block of text. This means that if you want to hear the details for glass under resources for example, you have to listen to everything that came before it first. The same thing applies when you go to the FAQ section, additionally, there is no way to get out of the FAQ section other than to close the game from the app switcher. When you feed all of your people from the shop screen, you only get 100 energy regardless of how many food bonuses you have. I can verify that I have not noticed any significant speed increases regardless of how many shoes I've created. After updating the game on my iPhone, I am unable to see the personalize your people and start war in the shop screen, I am also unable to see the FAQ section or dark mode in the options screen. I am however able to see these options in both the shop and options screen on my iPad. I've tried both uninstalling and reinstalling the game, as well as starting a new game on my iPhone to see if I can get these options to appear, I was unsuccessful.

iPad mini 2 running iOS version 10.3.3
iPhone SE running iOS version 11.4.1
Game version is 1.0.24 on both devices

Lastly, and finally, I would like to thank the developer for this lovely game. There is a lot to acquire and create as well as build. The music and sound effects are awesome, I enjoy playing with the music and sound on. Now then, I want to apologize for this extremely lengthy post, however, I hope that it is helpful to the developer as well as others. Thank you again very much for a wonderful game, and your patience.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you, my love be with you all in Christ Jesus, amen.

I love the previous long post! It covers so much ground and said everything I wanted to say rofl.

I feel that building the shops and market stall should give bonus to whenever you sell items, and not just when you build them.

Furthermore, I suggest a "market research" task for the character. If prices of items are going to be fluctuating, it'd be nice if there's a way to find out what's trending now and what's cheap so we don't go catch 300 fish only to find out it's 1 gold each lol.

By kool_turk on Monday, August 27, 2018 - 02:19

A small suggestion, make the inventory screen like the tools and town screens.

In other words, let's say I want to sell 2 or 3 planks of wood, I'd double tap to sell 1, and if I want to sell them all, I would double tap and hold to get a confirmation message to sell my entire stock of that item.

It would be like when you're building or making items on the other screens.

This way, there is a lot more control with your inventory.

You also don't need those buttons to adjust the percentage of how much you wish to sell.

Hope that made sence.

Hello and thank you all for the feedback.
even the really long ones LOL

Some Answers
The new build 1.0.25 was rejected it fixes a lot of the missing buttons i.e
faq,customize people.
It also fixes a lot of the screen issues people are having.

The economic model is designed to stop people just selling the same item over and over again.
The price drops like a stone when selling
and rises very slowly when building with that item.
No one is on strike but some sort of groups status might be in the future.
You can increase the prices by using a trader.
Keep an eye on your warehouse size when your people start coming back and nothing gets added.
There is a search box in the show details screen
here you can search for items and get the info on them.

I like the tap once to sell one and long press to sell all idea. +added to to do
I will look into shops and market stalls and the prices.

The long game is something i am looking into
Some story based way of reducing your assets

As ever all feedback is very welcome
and thank you all for your support

I play for three days without seeing any battle before the update, now after update, one day in still no battle at all.
Is this normal?
The start war button doesn't show on my iphone 6S at all.

By privatetai on Monday, August 27, 2018 - 02:19

I would also suggest for the quest rewards be raised. The way it is right now most of them aren't really worth doing once you really get going. For example, it says to sell 100 stones for 20 gold, but now my stones are down to 1 gold each, so the time it'd take me to go get those stones for that 20 gold quest reward I might as well go fishing :)

Maybe rather than quests, or in addition to, have a "trade" option? It can be randomly generated like quests, but allow you to say, "trade 100 stones for 20 glasses." Some trades can be real bad, some can be to your benefit... That may be kinda fun- at this point I'd not mind trading my 800 planks for a shipment of helmets.

I'm loving the new fix, the hibernate button got me out of the time crunch and I played for several hours, however I did notice a bug or two.
I will say though since I didn't restart my game with the new version its entirely possible all the version upgrades didn't quite make it into the game, so take some of these bugs with a grain of salt. I'm playing on an Iphone 8 with the latest version of Ios.

Firstly, sleep is a little odd. Before I had built a bench, sleep recovered all energy and time to max, however now I've built a bench and am getting a %5 upgrade, the measure has gone down exponentially which is weird. I'll admit, I'm a bit confused as to the logic behind sleep and food at the moment, since both seem to do the same thing, but food is a limited resource and sleep isn't. On the other hand, the actual "food"category of items such as fish and chips, baked potato etc don't seem to do anything, or don't seem usable for your people which is rather odd, even odder given some of the prices (for example fish and chips actually sells for far less than selling the components individually).

I would suggest myself that food gives buffs to production, so using a food item on a person lets them have increased speed, or decreased energy costs for a certain length of time, since they've just got a better meal than "forage for food" I'd also suggest that when you have at least one farm, the term "forage for food" changes to "prepare food" or "harvest food" just to indicate that you've gone from hunter/gatherer status to actually being more of a community.

Speaking of sleep buffs, it seems a bit odd that "firs" aren't in there somewhere, either to sell or as items to be used to make clothing or bedding to give buffs for sleep, indeed speaking of sewing, it might be nice to have an alternative to bone needles once you could produce metal and so have needles that didn't need constant replacement.

I've also noticed that quitting out of the game, especially if the game crashes as with the healer bug can sometimes do strange things. For example, I told some of my people to hibernate, quit the game and returned, and they were suddenly back on full health and energy again after just a minute or two (handy but definitely a bug), on another occasion I lost quite a few resources, about 100 stone as I remember, though whether these are due to not restarting with the new version I am not sure.

I have noticed that some of the buttons are missing, on the customize screen and indeed I haven't found the faq, though speaking of the customize screen I hope we can at least get gender options even if all the images aren't described in detail since it might confuse the voice samples otherwise.

I would also really like a way to assign multiple people to the same task, since when you've got a lot of people, if assigning a short task such as gather stones, then you can often find yourself having to imediately reassign someone after you get to assigning all of your people, indeed eventually it would be nice if instead of buying random people your population could grow through having children instead, with the need to expend resources on the children until they become old enough to work, and hay maybe a death mechanic in there to to increase realism, especially if we're going to have war to play with later.

I would also like to see more uses for buildings, since there are some really interesting ones, and I admit I was slightly disappointed when I built a shelter for my people (more out of logic than practicality I admit), and then found it have an effect. Housing your people might also be a nice way of getting extra buffs.

Okay I'll stop rambling now and go back to the game, either way, love where this is going and I'm looking forward to seeing what gets introduced next.

By Sabrina on Monday, August 27, 2018 - 02:19

What is the hospital for?
I cannot seem to exceed the time and energy warnings so I don't know what the hospital is for?
I have never had a person there.

By Sabrina on Monday, August 27, 2018 - 02:19

Rofl just after posting the latest I gott four people into hospital and I don't know what I did.
I think it should be more expensive to make them better though.

By kool_turk on Monday, August 27, 2018 - 02:19

This is what I love about this community, developers not only engage with their userbase, they actually listen, at least the indie developers.

The only issue with having a death mechanic would be what happens if your people all perish?

I hope not, not if you went to all that work for nothing.

By maxi on Monday, August 27, 2018 - 02:19

why isn't the game free?

By privatetai on Monday, August 27, 2018 - 02:19

"
why isn't the game free?"

:) cause I suppose some devs like to eat too.

By kool_turk on Monday, August 27, 2018 - 02:19

Unlike a few games, this one is actually wirth paying for.

Three bucks isn't all that much, cheaper than a cup of coffee, at least here in australia.

I know everything I need is in stock, because when I double-tap and hold on rubber, nothing is listed as being needed, but when I double-tap on rubber, nothing happens. What the heck? Am I doing something wrong? Do you need a specific building in place to make rubber?

Thanks,
Shersey

By John from Wood… on Monday, August 27, 2018 - 02:19

Hello
The last build was rejected so all the fixes so far are still waiting.

Known bugs to fix
rubber
war
faq format
search detail screen

Hopefully the current build will be accepted.
and some actual progress can b started.
Thank you

By Shersey on Monday, August 27, 2018 - 02:19

I was wondering what on earth I was doing wrong. Everything else always told me when I needed materials, so that was why I found the rubber thing so odd. I have a few questions.
Is the food you can make supposed to be for your people or should you sell it in town?

Do shelters have any in-game effect, or are they just esthetic?

How about upgrading buildings? Should I keep upgrading them?

What is the difference between the shed and the shop? I think sheds are for storing supplies, but then what do shops do? Thanks,
Shersey

Currently the game crashes whenever I try to go back in, if I delete and re-download will I lose all my progress?

By Yokose on Monday, August 27, 2018 - 02:19

Hello,

I think I have an idea as to why some people are having trouble when their characters return empty-handed after doing a task. I'll try to explain as quickly as I can.

First off, let's start by assuming that you have 100 storage in your warehouse and that it's empty... this will make it easier to explain. Next, let us assume that you made enough progress in the game to get the coal mine as I'll be using it for this example. You get 8 coal in the coal mine when you farm the resources there with someone. There are two ways you can get more coal from the coal mine, you could either have more than one person go farming there, or you can level up the coal mine. As I've said in a previous post, when you build many of the buildings in town, it's actually worth it as you get something for the effort you put in... however, I digress. Let us now assume that you have decided to level up your coal mine. When you level up your coal mine, you get more for each level... level 1 gets you 8, level 2 gets you 16, level 3 gets you 24, and so on. So... if you have 100 storage in your warehouse that is hopefully empty, and a level 12 coal mine... you will get 96 coal if you farm it with one person. At level 13, you'll get 104 coal... but, you'll never receive it, no matter how many people you send to go farm for it. This is because your warehouse can only hold 100, so even if it's empty, you'll never receive anything at or over 100. The only way to get the 104 coal you want is to buy more storage for your warehouse.

It's time for another bug report. First is, you guessed it, the warehouse. If you are farming for resources, and receive something that is at, or over the amount of storage your warehouse has, you will not receive anything. See above paragraph for example. This next, and hopefully last item is about hibernation and the ability to feed all your people in the shop. Let's assume that you have a person, or many people, or everyone hibernating. If you go to the shop and spend gold to feed all of your people, time is not subtracted from the task of hibernation. I will assume that the same applies when you spend gold to sing a lullaby.

Yokose

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you, my love be with you all in Christ Jesus, amen.

Just a minor bug to report, make that two.

Pillow is listed twice in the tools screen.

Also fish and chips still appears to be listed twice in the food screen.

I haven't found any others, if I do I'll be sure to report them.

Thanks for the feature in the inventory screen, it really makes selling items easier, no more accidentally selling all my bricks lol.

Oh to go to war you need to go to the shop tab, and find the start a war button.
If you update app I just updated today

By kool_turk on Monday, August 27, 2018 - 02:19

When you do start a war, make sure you have enough energy to win, otherwise you're gonna need to pay gold to make your people better.

Oh and there doesn't appear to be a way to get out of that start war screen.

There's a start fight button, plus something else when you swipe right which doesn't appear to do anything.

Voiceover doesn't speak any label for whatever that item or butten is.

I'm gonna hold off on picking fights until I've actually got the means to fight back.

By privatetai on Monday, August 27, 2018 - 02:19

Okay lol, I started the war, and even though my guys all have over 1000 energy and armed with three weapons, we just got owned... I would've lost about 5000 gold cept the game then crashed lol and that fight never took place! Lucky us...

Me too.
Many people went hospital. I pay gold but nothing move. Maybe gold is minus but voiceover does not speak minus.

By maxi on Monday, August 27, 2018 - 02:19

are there any user guides?

By kool_turk on Monday, August 27, 2018 - 02:19

I would like to see more than one way to accomplish tasks, not all of them, just the ones that can only be done by paying gold.

Let's say all your people somehow end up in hospital and you don't have enough gold to pay to make them better.

You can't use hibernate in that situation.

I would also like to be able to increase my energy without having to pay gold all of the time, even if it's by a smaller amount.

Kind of like the building of sheds to increase warehouse space, it increases, but not nearly as much as if you were to pay to expand your storage.

Maybe a similar concept could be done to get you more time, but I can't think of what, maybe give your people some sort of insentive to work for more time by paying them?

That could be an option in the people screen.

Give uncle Bob 1000 gold and he might work for more time or something.

Getting back to the energy thing, maybe send them to workout at the gym, assuming you have one built to increase their energy.

Speaking of energy, it appears that double tapping on increase energy is broken, I had more than enough gold and it still wouldn't work.

This game is coming along nicely, keep up the good work.

I have searched all areas of the game, including the obvious screen War, but I cannot figure out how to make a spear. I had it once but cannot duplicate. Any help is appreciated.

You can get the spear in the tools screen, you'll need a stone knife and wood to create it. The stone knife is also available in the tools screen, you need stone to create that.
