Hi everyone,
I'm one of the developers of the game Crafting Kingdom.
We just released the game today and we would love to know what you think, especially in terms of the game's accessibility.
The game focuses a lot on crafting resources, producing goods and then selling them.
You start out small, chopping logs in your lumberyard. Eventually you will work your way up unlock new products, buy new buildings and production facilities which allow you to produce more valuable goods.
You can also build out your own estate, if you have the necessary construction materials.
The game is incremental, which means one of the gameplay mechanics is that you need to restart your progress every now and then to get ahead. You complete quests and earn bonuses like faster production and higher sale prices for your next restart.
The game is free. There are optional ads, but no in-app purchases. The ads are voluntary rewarded videos, which will give you a powerful boost for watching (for example double log production for 10 minutes).
You can find the game here:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/crafting-kingdom/id1190611967?ls=1&mt=8
We tried to make this game as accessible as possible, but know that there are probably plenty of things that could be better. We would really appreciate some feedback on what could be improved. Any feedback is welcome.
Please note: The game uses Unity and the Unity Accessibility Plugin (UAP), so not all VoiceOver gestures are supported.
Comments
Nothing wrong with doing both, in fact that helps you!
I usually try to expand my estate at least once and complete as many quests as possible before resetting the game, but I don't stick to any particular order of doing that; Before my last reset I did the estate expansion before the quests, this time i'm doing the quests before the estate expansion. But in the end it's up to you which you do and when you do them: both estate expansions and completed quests give you more and more advantages as you progress in the game, and resetting the game means you can use the rewards from completed quests.
quests, estate, and restarting
doing either first is totally fine. I often restart just after completing 1 quest that gives me plus 1 production of that particular resource. talking about doing at least 1 estate expansion before restart, I think it is not going to be possible when u are facing an estate expansion that requires 1500 gold bars and 1500 clothes and 250m gold. that's what's next in my estate expansion, and I am sure I will not be doing that anytime soon because 250m gold will take me probably a few days to get. I just completed selling 150k grain that will give me extra sale price, and working on 50k metal that will give me plus 1 metal production. and after just finishing this 2 quests I will restart to get 2 more new quest. why? because my other quests are: 25k fishing rods which I will need to buy blacksmith, buy 500 automations, which by restarting more I will help this quest to complet more quickly, and the last 2 quests are 1000 clothes which is not too bad but requires workshop which is quite a pain to buy as well, and last but not least, 25k food which also requires workshop but will take really long to do because it requires a large amount of meat and salt just to make 1! but nevertheless, i'm still enjoying this game. just restart when u feel the reward is worth starting over. u don't have to do all 6 quests before restarting that's for sure!
Different sounds for productions
Hi all,
there are quite a few calls to add a bit more variation to the sounds of the different construction buildings. Currently they all use the same sound effect, which is rather generic. It can also be annoying to hear the sound over and over again for all the production slots.
I just wanted to let you know that we are planning to include different sounds for different products. We have started collecting sound effects, but it will be a while before we have 32 different sounds for all 32 different products. Some products make very similar sounds when harvested, like stone, coal, copper, iron and so on. Other products are just difficult to do, like grain or meat.
I wanted to let you know that this is being worked on, but it won't be in the next update.
Possible compromise for sounds?
After reading your last comment, Michelle, about collecting sound effects, and not finding it easy to get the right sounds for different products, it just occurred to me that there is a possible compromise to tide us over till more sounds are available. How about different sounds for production in different properties: one sound for the lumber-yard, one for the farm, one for the quarry, and so on? That's a possible start for varying the sounds, until it's possible to get a sound for each individual product. This is just an idea, you don't have to run with it, but i thought I'd put it out there.
I like the idea of 1 sound
I like the idea of 1 sound for every property this way you dont' need 32 sounds you only need I think 8? I cant' remember now.
Agreed
@ke7zum, I agree with you.
@Michelle, if you don't want to have to find sounds for everything, and would rather just find 1 sound for each property to make it easier, then by all means, do what is best and easiest for you.
Agree
@I totally agree that having each sound for each property. Do what is easiest for you. I really like the game so far.Keep the great work on the game.
Regarding sound effects
Regarding sound effects, that was precisely my idea: just a sound for each building. For me, that is enough. I don't mind the sound that currently we hear when a production slot is restarted. An idea, I think, sounds of a farm when we enter the farm. Sound of something like a market when we go to the city because, actually what we do there is business and expansions. That way, I think, would be easier than having a different sound for every slot. That would be just too much. Thank you, Michelle, for all the hard work you are putting into this game.
products and buildings
personally I am hoping that there will be more buildings and products that will be added in the future. as of now after unlocking all products in the workshop, I noticed that there are some resources that are under utilized. e.g. meat and salt are only used to make food, and grain is not used at all to help make other products. because the only building left to unlock will be the jeweler, i'm sure grain won't be used there. maybe the stone and copper can be used to make pots? not sure yet haha. other than adding new sounds and quest lines, I think adding just 1 more building and 4 more products will dramatically increase game play strategy as well.
re: Different sounds for productions
hi michelle,i like the sounds in the production the way it is now. very informative. i am not against adding new sounds but not really looking forward as those won't add to game play.
i have some concerns. will adding more sounds also add more load to system resource usage and higher chances of game lag?
the file size will be larger. it is already taking up 1 gb of my memory space because of the videos and will get even higher. there is no save game so i cannot reinstall the game.
Hi. Two things. First, the
Hi. Two things. First, the lag issue is back. I cannot navigate the screen anymore ever since the new update. It takes a couple seconds to navigate between elements. Also, i like the idea of different sounds but having one different sound for each building would be fine
I love this game!
Hello. I should have posted on here earlier. I play this game like crazy. I really love it. I am not sure what you mean with treassure chests though. Keep up the good work, Michelle. Finally a crafting and resource management game that isn't all battle based. I have been hoping for a game like this. I am having no problems. The lag issue seems fixed and I can open the game fine. The only thing is that I think there should be a sound for when the chest appears and disappears. Just an idea. I am going to see if I can build out my estate now. Note: this post has bean heavily edited.
Treasure chests
Treasure chests are items that pop up on the World Map screen of Crafting kingdom from time to time, either one swipe left of the castle or one swipe left of the estate. If you double-tap on a treasure chest, you win some extra gold coins. It seems to me that, the more gold coins you already have, the more you get in the treasure chest, but I don't know if that is random or whether the treasure chest is a percentage of the gold you have already.
great game and a suggestion
Hello: I love this game. i am running an iPhone 7. I was wondering if you guys could fix it so we can sign in to the game with our Apple id? I was hoping since I am also playing the game on my iPad this would allow me to combine my resources. I am at different levels on my phone and tablet. Can you guys make this happen?
oh
Oh the treassure chests actually has sound. Sorry.
Any timeline for the update that allows you to pay for boosts?
I was wondering if anyone new the timeline that will allow you to pay to get boosts with out watching videos? I have a 100 boost quest I've been putting off hoping for this update.
Cloud Save and Boosts without ads
We intend to add Cloud Save, but unfortunately it won't be in this upcoming update. It takes a while to get to work right for both Android and iOS, and we don't want to delay the update even more.
In terms of timeline, the current update got delayed a bit, due to some large changes we had to make to the game's code. The game will run smoother for it, but as a result we missed our planned release by about a week or two. Currently we hope to get this new update to the beta players next week and release it once the testers give their OK.
I will of course post any updates and changes here!
Who's the Craftiest Crafter in the Kingdom?
Has anyone unlocked all of the products?
If so, would you be willing to post on this forum what it takes to make each product?
For instance, it takes 1 coal and 1 Iron oar to make metal. Or it takes 4 logs and 1 metal part to make tools. etc.
crafting
have not gone in to the jeweler yet although I hhad to make 250 million for my last estate expansion. here's what I can remember from my last play through as I have just restarted not too long ago so do not have the workshop now haha:
lumberyard:
timber: 3 logs to make.
leather: 2 timber and 2 leather strips to make.
fishing rod: 1 timber, 1 wool, and 1 metal parts to make.
furnace:
metal: 1 coal and 1 iron oar to make.
copper bar: 1 coal and 1 copper oar to make.
silver bar: 1 coal and 1 silver oar to make.
gold bar: 1 coal and 1 gold oar to make.
blacksmith:
metal parts: 1 metal to make.
tools: 1 metal parts and 4 logs to make.
armor: 1 leather strip, 2 metal, and 2 metal parts to make and has the highest sell price in the blacksmith.
weapons: 1 silver bar, 1 timber, and 1 leather strip to make.
workshop:
fabric: 4 wool to make.
clothes: 1 fabric and 3 wool to make.
food: 2 meat and 3 salt to make.
belt: this one I really can't remember, but it takes several metal parts, 1 leather strip, and I think 1 more item to make. the belt also sells for the best price.
next estate expansion requires: 2000 belts, 1500 diamond rings, and 500 million gold.
To Master Crafter Kelvin
Thanks for the answer Kelvin, you are indeed pretty crafty.

Boost timers and the "sell 1" button
Hi Michelle, I have what for me would be a helpful suggestion. :)
Can you show along with the boost timers, also display what the boost is for? There's times where I'll get distracted by family, or just working so hard in the rest of the kingdom that I forget what boosts I currently have running. When I go back into the castle, I only see timers and I'm like... which ones am I running? doh!
That to me would be a huge help! Of course I don't expect this in the next update, just to put on your ever growing "to do" list.
Also I wanted to ask if the "sell 1" button was going to be put back into the city/market? Along with displaying the boost name, this would be a huge help for obvious reasons!
Thanks so much for your continued hard work in showing not only us your dedication to accessibility, but the rest of the sighted gaming community. That games can be made accessible if they really were more then interested in just passing the buck.
Great job dev team! You rock! Keep it up! :)
boos timers and sell 1 button
u can always double tap on the boos timers to find out what boost u are running for that timer.
as for the sell 1 button, from what I know, sighted players are just using sliders to sell their products, and therefore they will likely not be able to just sell 1 item at a time, so I feel blind players should not be given that button. as it is, blind players are already advantaged over sighted players when it comes to treasure chests. when accessibility mode is off, the treasure chests do not make any sound when they are on the map, so we blind players should be already thankful that we are already advantaged over sighted players in that aspect. personally, I think a stop productions button or a start all productions button will be more useful. in the longer run, I hope more products and buildings can be added as well. just my personal thoughts. keep up the good work guys.
Suggestions and Please add to Beta.
First of all, I can't say enough how much I appreciate and love this game. The developers have done an amazing job. I would love to be apart of a beta team if at all possible. Here are a few suggestions I was thinking would be helpful.
1st Suggestion would be to add a "Produce All" button at the top in each property.
The 2nd Suggestion I have would be to have a sell property button. I accidentally bought a property that I cannot use yet until I create the property before it so now I'm stuck having to raise the money to create the propertynd products that come before it.
One last suggestion I have would be of course for more opportunities to earn and spend money while you wait for your storage to fill. There seems to be a lot of idle time waiting for the storage to fill.
I too would love to join the
I too would love to join the beta team for either of the two platforms. How do we do this again?
Take care and be blessed.

I would love to help beta test the game. My e-mail is Sabrina059 at gmail'com.
tip for annoying video ads
Hi all, although I know the option to buy away the adverts when using boosts is coming soon which I for one can't wait for, I discovered something rather cool recently, this is that if you want to activate a boost and say OK to watching a video, if you then flick the silence switch down you can mute the sound of the advert. I for one am so pleased I will never have to hear another advert for total war again. On the back of this trick with the silence switch though I did find two issues, firstly if you have the silent switch on you no longer hear the sound for the treasure chest, so I suggested to Michelle in an email that some sort of optional vibrate feature should be added for the chest. but also for those of you not playing with VoiceOver just using the system voice activating the silence switch completely stops the system voice. I will drop Michelle an email about this particular issue. I don't want the silence switch to still allow the treasure chest sound through though because if your in public its quite nice to be able to play when your with boring people and not disturb them. But obviously the issue with silence totally muting non VoiceOver speech needs looking at.
Delayed Update
Hi everybody,
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but unfortunately we will have to push the update for the game another week. I'll keep updating here as we make progress.
well I say better to push the
well I say better to push the update back than release something you know isn't working as you would like or that is unstable. thanks for keeping us in the loop.
suggestion re: the princess
Once you max out her 40% sales bonuses, she should start giving perma rewards. Otherwise there's no reason to keep visiting her except to keep the status quo, and since you have to constantly start over anyway, that's not a good reason. Speaking of starting over, my dad has already quit the game because he doesn't like having to do it. You'd be wise to reconsider that aspect of your design and opt for more incremental quests that don't require constantly starting over. Right now I'm working on 25000 of three different things, have expanded my estate and still have over two mil banked. That's not going to be fun to give up.
For my two cents, the thing
For my two cents, the thing to do there is not to deny the blind something because the sighted don't have it, it's to add it to the game in its entirety so both have it. A sell one button would be useful and it seems like it'd be easy enough to add to the sighted slider too. The sound treasure chest isn't really an unfair advantage for us, either, as I would suspect the sighted folks have some kind of clue it exists, some flash of color or something. If they don't they should.
I agree with pa joe. I really
I agree with pa joe. I really don't like to restart my game after a quest is complete. It really takes the fun out of the game, and I've quit until a future update is released for now. I love the game, it's just having to restart my progress after a quest is completed, really annoys me! lol!
Interface lag on older devices
Hi I played the game for a while and enjoyed it but the lag is something i cannot ignore.
I use a ipad3 running 9.3.x and the game is really slow.
I realise that the device is old a warning in the app store about recommended hardware specs would be welcome.
A very nice game which if allowed would consume a lot of my time.
John from Woodside Apps.
restarting
u guys fail to see, restarting actually makes u stronger than before. this is actually a part of this game that I particularly look forward to in fact. I will always try my best to finish my quests soon and look forward to restarting and getting new quest, becoming stronger at each restart. if u guys really get further in this game, 2 million gold is really nothing. I have had to just give up more than 30 million because I have no quest that requires me to buy automations or storage so there is no use for the money I had. money can be used to buy more buildings and upgrade your estate, which gives permanent storage bonuses at each restart. my next estate expansion requires 2000 belts which requires a workshop, and 1500 diamond rings which requires a jeweler, and 500 million gold. I will likely not be doing this upgrade any time soon however, because I need to get stronger with doing many more quests from the lower priced buildings. I really like this game's mechanics, slowly letting us progress by restarting. a tip for restarting for some who may not realize, there is a boost called bag of gold, which I will always use as soon as I restart, because it's at 128 k per bag now, I can easily buy the first 3 buildings almost immediately depending on what my quests are. and how did I get 128 k gold for that boost, it's because I have done many quests and restarted many times! hope this put things in prospective for some of u. great game!
also, people who don't keep
also, people who don't keep an eye on this thread might not know that michelle explained why restarting was needed and said that this was a core game mechanic that they wouldn't consider changing because it would also destroy the way the game is balanced, so basically those of you who don't like restarts tough, I admit I don't particularly like them either but lets face it restarts mean we can't just rush through to the end of the game, and with each restart our time to be able to get back to where we were previously in the game gets shorter and shorter. I am hoping that the other boost slots get unlocked soon. my current aim on this game I am currently playing is to do my current estate expansion and to also buy all the buildings in the game unlock all there products. I don't have any need for them all in this current game, but as I understand it quests are chosen randomly on each restart and the game does take into account what you have unlocked previously as well. So I hope by doing this I get some better quests and not just for timber logs etc.
Restarting
I for one like the restarting aspect, because without it the game would be ridiculously easy. If you do your quests correctly you shouldn't even notice rebuilding after a restart much after awhile. If I needed to, I could easily have all production types purchased and running in just under a day. This is with less than amonths time played. I should also mention that I had to take a break mid way through and because of this my Princess bonus reset back to 0%. The game was never intended to be beaten in a week, which I for one am thankful for.
I totally agree with the restarting aspect.
I like the fact of this restart thing because it makes it more challenging. If we take into consideration that in this game you don't have to fight and/or kill, restarting offers a very good reason to keep playing. On the other hand, if we had the option to keep gold, properties, etc., the game would just simply become way too easy and, therefore, would become boring.
I like the restarting aspect...
Personally, I enjoy restarting. As others have said, it gives new opportunities to plan out your production. What I would like to see is an in-app purchase which allows to keep a certain percentage of your storage after restarting. I think a Watch app that gives an overview of your production and the ability to sell all and activate all automated production slots would be neat too. Even a simple complication on the watch face showing your remaining automation time or current gold would be cool.
Restarts are a good thing, IMHO!
Much as I can understand the frustration some people feel about having to restart Crafting Kingdom relatively often, especially if they have lots of gold or storage or products, I personally feel that resetting the game has plenty of advantages, including being able to use rewards from completing quests and estate expansions, and learning better strategies as you go along to increase your gold or products or storage. Of course, all the resets and increases of products and gold and storage needed to complete quests and expansions take more and more time, so we need to be as patient as we can, but it's well worth it, in my opinion, as this means that Crafting Kingdom isn't a game you'll complete quickly, plus the parts you've done already still have replay value.
Boosts stackable?
Are boosts stackable? If I had the boost master lumberjack running if I started another one would the lumberyar work 20 percent faster? Thanks!
Boosts are stackable
Yes, boosts are stackable. Comes in handy in situations like you described.
balancing production
Hi all, I have come to the conclusion that I don't use my resources effectively when starting out, in fact I suggested to michelle that in the production areas the cost of the next automation should also be shown next to the cost of the next production slot, as I hate buying a slot cheaply then finding out it costs a shed load to automate it which means effectively I wasted gold if I can't use it for ages.
anyway I am writing because I have decided it might be a good idea to create some kind of spreadsheet to help me optimize spending of my resources, however I am not an excel expert, I did see someone's post earlier where they explained about dividing large production times by the smaller ones to work out numbers of slots needed, I get that bit.
what I would like to do though is set up a spreadsheet which shows all the items that can be produced in the game, there production times the amounts of items produced by each slot though for me at the moment logs are the only thing I have got up to two every 3 seconds.
then I would like to just be able to some how adjust the numbers to have the sheet update and tell me the number of slots I need for each item, because for example at the moment I end up with things like way two many leather strips so obviously I have put two much money into the farm at the moment but I don't have enough timber, or I get my log production running out of control. I am not exactly sure how to go about this once I have entered all the resources and the production times, is there any wizard out there with formulas who might have an idea how to go about doing what I want?
so like for example I want to be able to put in that I have off the top of my head 15 slots producing ladders then be told for this you need x timber slots and x log slots to support timber production obviously this would grow more complex as I have more large items that need smaller items, and I suppose these would have to be factored in as well.
Loving the game
Hi.
I am playing the game on an IPod touch running IOS 9.35. It is a fifth generation unit. I do notice the lag that everyone has mentioned here on the forum. Sometimes, I have to turn on VoiceOver to get things to respond within the game. Other times, I can turn VoiceOver off and it works as expected. When double tapping I notice that I have to do that sometimes twice or four times. Not sure what is going on in that reguard. Over all, great game and please keep up the good work. I would love to see this game improve and get better.
Reading of large numbers
Hello all,
I've been playing Crafting Kingdom for around two weeks and enjoyed it.
If this issue has been discussed earlier on this thread I do apologize, but I feel it rather challenging to listen to large numbers in the game. If I, for example, find 11,000 gold coins in the treasure chest, it will be read out just correctly as "eleven thousand". But if I have, as I now do, 142,414 gold coins in total, it will be read as "one four two four one four". In my opinion it would be much better and make much more sense if it was read in a similar way as the smaller number. Especially when coming up to millions, it's really difficult to count all the numbers read as single digits.
This seems not to be voice specific. I have noticed the same behaviour with the Finnish TTS I normally use and also some English voices I've tested. Some numbers are also written by letters in the game.
It would be really nice to have the numbers being read consistently.
Any comments?
Different behaviors on different devices
I have the game installed on three of my Apple devices. My iPhone 4S, iPod touch fifth-generation, and my new I phone 6S.
The 6s gives me the best performance. None to little lag however, it's still has the Number description and closing the ad problems mentioned in many of the posts before.
The next best performance comes from the iPhone 4S. It lags a bit, but it also allows me to close the ads on most of the boost with the options of going to the App Store, closing the ad, or replaying it.
Last as well as least, :-) the iPod touch 5G exhibits the worst performance of all With plenty of lag and the inability to do much of anything. I am running the latest iOS versions for each of these devices.
Balancing production
Hi Alex,
I would be happy to help you out with this in any way I can. You can feel free to contact me outside of AppleVis.
I will tell you that developing a spreadsheet would be possible, but since there are so many factors that can go into determining production times, it would have to be pretty complex. I mean, production times can vary depending on if you are using a boost to increase production, received quest rewards to increase production time, etc. For example, leather strips start out at 15 seconds, but mine is currently 14.3 seconds. Production time will continue to change throughout the game.
I start things out simple, I take my current automation time, which is 45 minutes, and multiply it by 60 seconds, which gives me a total of 2700 total automation seconds per production slot.
I use seconds because items are produced in seconds, like logs, in your case, 2 logs every 3 seconds.
So for logs, just divide 2700 by 3, and you get 900, then since you get 2 logs every 3 seconds, multiply that by 2. Your total is 1800 logs per production slot every 45 minutes.
Since it takes 3 logs per timber, you then know that you can produce 600 timber for each production slot of logs.
Timber would be 270 per production slot for every 45 minutes of production time. 2700 divided by 10.
Since you will have enough logs to produce 600 timber, that means you could have 2 timber slots for every log slot, 270 times 2 is 540.
I hope this has been helpful. Like I said, feel free to contact me.

just wondering?
Hi Michelle and gamers, I was wondering if we are closer to an update yet? I can't wait to see all the new great things you put in place!
Great Progress
Hi Tom, yes, we're close to releasing the update. We sent out the new text strings to be translated today, and are currently setting up the beta test for the update. There were a lot of changes that made it into the update, that's why it took so long. I hope you're happy to hear that one of those changes is the revival of the Sell 1 button in the city!
Once everything is up, I'll post a complete change list here.
Switching languages
This is a rather small one, but you can make a voice sound funny by selecting another language in the game options menu. If I wanted to use French for example, even though my "primary" language is set to English, the Fred voice would be used if I turned off Voiceover and selected French seeing as how that seems to be the system default voice. I can make Alex try talking French too by simply turning on Voiceover, or any other voice selectable for that matter.
Progress on update
Hello,
This is exciting news about the update!! I can't wait, smiles.
@Michelle, I don't know if you got my email awhile back, but I'd love to help beta test, as I have an iPhone 7 Plus.
My email is:

Thanks.
