VoiceOver Issues with Latest Version of Trivia Crack

The latest version of Trivia Crack appears to be completely inaccessible. I can't even find my turn where the list of games are that I'm supposed to take my turn and it keeps kicking me out to the home screen. Thoughts?

Hi,

I have the paid version 2.1.6 and have no issues. I have the current iOS. Are you using the free version?

By Morgan Watkins on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 - 23:18

Earlier this evening, I updated Trivia Crack to Version 2.2. I just tried using it, and it does indeed crash. I will work on seeing if there is some way to get it working again, but it looks bad. I will try to find a way to notify the developers.

I am running ios 8.4 and paid for the Ad Free version. In fact, I paid the $25 for unlimited lives and have enjoyed the game for almost a year. I sure hope there is either a way to get it working again or the developers back down whatever change goofed up Trivia Crack.

I submitted comment like yours a few hours ago and got automated feedback that they'd be in touch soon. Hope it's true.

I also sent them a tweet and encourage others to do so. Let's go viral!

Is there a preferred email address for the Trivia Crack developers. Accidents happen and we should let them know that there is a problem that needs repair...

Hi all. I have an iPhone five, ancient I know, and it can crash me once, then keep me in, then crash. Not to big of a deal but it is annoying. i also thought this developer only dealt in spanish? I do remember my verbs but not at 2 A.M. Lol. I also have the paid version running the latest IOS

running with iOS 8.4 on my iPhone 6. My game's still limping along badly but it crashes very often depending on what you touch on the screen.

Just upgraded the paid version to version 2.2 on my iPhone 5S running iOS 8.4. Completely broken with voiceover on. Just trying to swipe around the main screen results in a crash back to the springboard. I just send a descriptive tweet and will promptly send the development team an email. Really really frustrating considering that every time they decide to add a new feature, it always seems to break accessibility and they still have not addressed any of the button labeling or generic accessibility issues of the game itself so far.

Hi! I'm running the very latest version of Trivia Crack Ad Free on an iPhone 6 with IOS 8.4, and I have had the same problem as described above. The only times I've been able to answer any questions in the latest Trivia Crack version was when I saw notifications on the lock screen leading to them: as soon as I got a question wrong and went back to the screen with the list of current games on it, it was often difficult to find the next game to continue even though I could read the words "your turn" as . usual, and the game crashes while hunting for an opponent or double-tapping their name. I've also noticed that some new text now appears which never used to be there, probably something to do with the cards announced in the What's New for this app: it's definitely not an advertisement, as I always play the ad-free Trivia Crack, I deleted the unpaid one when I bought the ad-free version. Trivia Crack has been so good with VoiceOver till now that I'm very disappointed with this new version; As I only play Trivia Crack against other blind people I have no idea whether sighted players get the same crashing problem, but obviously we blind players can't play it without VO. I hope this new bug can soon be well and truly squashed.

Hi all. I am also running the ad free game. It seams that swiping on the screen gives you a crash. But if I touch, it doesn't seem to be much of a problem. I hope this gets fixed soon.

By Ro on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 - 23:18

As of last night my game was fine, but I hadn't yet received the notification to update so strike my comment above. I won't be updating. I heart AppleVis.

I am having similar issues. Let's all make sure to write them about this. Maybe that'll make them listen. Let's make suere they know we are an influential community!

Hi,

I also am experiencing the same kinds of crashes as people are describing in the above posts. I have to be very careful where I touch the screen, or else I am dumped out of the game and have to reopen the app. I have written to the developper, but if they only respond if written to in Spanish, then I am out of luck. I used my iPhone to compose the message, and didn't have access to google translate. Besides, I didn't know that they didn't respond to messages in English until now. I hope they will fix the problems, since I love this game.

No word from the developer--not surprised. Called Apple Cares line and lodged complaint. The gal I talked to thought if they get a lot of complaints they might reach out to the developer. Their number is 800-275-2273. You'll have to go through giving them your IMEI number and your phone number, etc. It took about five minutes. Maybe if we work together we can stir up interest in fixing this.

Touching seems to work, for the most part. When touching, however, do be careful to focus your touches on the top half of the screen. I've found touching anywhere near the bottom half of the screen seems to result in getting kicked out of the app.

This morning, I got notification thatfirmware update 8.4.1 is available. I got it on my 128 gig iPhone 6. After that, I checked for app updates, and Trivia Crack was one of them. So, I'm using the latest update to the paid version. I'm having no such issues as others are reporting. So, from this, I gather that either an update to the game as of today, or a firmware update, or both, may fix the reported problems. I hope this helps others?

I received an email from Trivia Crack's support team. They said that they were working on the voiceover problems that we have been discussing. That's progress!
Charles, what version of Trivia Crack are you using? I have updated to IOS 8.41 and have the latest version of Trivia Crack as of a few days ago. I am still experiencing the crashing issues.

Now, I don't even have to do anything when running the game and it dumps me out to the home screen. I will download iOS 8.4.1 later and see what happens. Using an iPhone 6 here.

I've also updated to 8.41 and no improvement. Did the reply mention Voiceover issue or was it a general "we'll be in touch" like I got?

By Jimmy V on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 - 23:18

untill trivia crack fixes the problems in the latest update, here are some ways I found to get around the problems.
To take a turn in a game, just touch around the screen til you land on a game than tap it when you do. All the main things like answering a question still work
If you get to the screen that says choose what to play and voice over just says button when your flicking around, go into the app switcher, and click on trivia crack when it pops up again in the list of apps. For some strange reason this seams to work for me.
Hope these tips help. I'm using IOS8.1.3

Hi, I'm having the same issues as everyone else. I updated to the latest free version and am using an IPhone six with IOS 8.41. Going to write a tweet and send them a comment. I sent a support comment via the app it actually let me do to that. go to the menu alpha button then click on the help button and look for customer support.

The version I amusing is the one that I found this morning as being available. haven't gotten any updates for the game in a while, so I figure that this is the latest one, as stated in my previous message.

It just occured to me that, possibly, the reason I'm not having these issues is that I am not even touching the iPhone 6. When playing Trivia Crack, I always use an Apple Bluetooth keyboard. If anyone has a Bluetooth keyboard, try it and send your results. Hope this also helps.

By Morgan Watkins on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 - 23:18

Even with the use of a BT keyboard, the new Trivia Crack (version 2.2) is not playing nice with VoiceOver.

My fingers are crossed for an update that helps.

By Santiago on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 - 23:18

The latest update, which is either 2.2 or 2.2.1 is crashing on my iPhone as well. Tried using it with a Braille display, a bluetooth keyboard, and with the touch screen itself, and it keeps crashing. Regardless, the app has had unlabeled buttons for some time now, so that's the reason I haven't played as much as I used to. Hopefully the developers fix these issues soon.

By Jesus R on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 - 23:18

After my post on this form, when I updated 2.2, and they added the new cards, I had this crashing problem. I just went on the app store and found an update, 2.2.1 or some such, the update just said bug fixs, tried the app with the same thing happenning.
As others have reported, touching the screen helps, Sometimes you can drag your finger down the screen, but that's about the only thing that seams to work.
I also, like everyone else, hope this gets fixed soon. It was a good game till this happened, and updates didn't break accessability. Not sure what happened here.

By Clare Page on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 - 23:18

I wouldn't be surprised if the new cards feature in Trivia Crack is messing things up on the main screen of that app for us VoiceOver users. I have discovered, like one of the previous posters, that randomly tapping somewhere in the top half of the screen can land me on one of my current games which I can usually open, but below that there are extra buttons now: one called "view more" will make my Trivia Crack crash even if I just accidentally touch it, and that happened when I accidentally did so after updating to 2.2.1. Whatever the bug fixes were in this 2.2.1 update are, they don't include eliminating the crashes VO users have had to put up with since Trivia Crack 2.2 was released. Glad to read on this thread that someone got a reply from the Trivia Crack people saying they were working on squashing the VO bugs, though!

By Piotr Machacz on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 - 23:18

The best thing we can do now is wait. I generally much prefer trivia crack to dice world, because there's a lot more game than random number generator here, and if a few people got a response they're working on it we should now wait. I know etermax is a bit slow at fixing accessibility issues, but they do eventually get around to it as the android version had a very impressive turnaround recently.

By Misty Dawn on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 - 23:18

I don't know if it's something on my end or if it's something else, but, my TviriaCrack app is now COMPLETELY crashing. I mean, when I bring the app up, it crashes immediately on startup. When I close it out completely and try it bring it up again, it still crashes immediately on sartup. Even when I tap on a notification from someone else about a game (as I had been doing before and getting in), when I do that now, the app again totally just crashes on startup. I am unable even to get into the app now at all.

I do hope that, even after the update, I don't have to re-install the app cold. Wouldn't that delete all my scoring and other data if I do have to do that?

By Misty Dawn on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 - 23:18

Maybe someone at TriviaCrack should actually give their app at least a quick test with VoiceOver before they actually submit it as an update. Just sayin'... *frown*

(In fact, if more apps actually did this, it would make it far easier for all of us.)

Good idea for developers to try it with Voiceover but they also need to close their eyes. I think a sighted person could work 2.2.1 even with Voiceover on; it's our touching it that crashes it! Common sense I know, but common sense is rare.

By Ro on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 - 23:18

I haven't updated the game since all the problems were reported. A friend running iOS 9 beta had the game automatically update and he doesn't have any issues with the game. Maybe for those contacting the developers, this would be useful information to include.

By Ricardo on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 - 23:18

Hi,

I've been playing the latest version of Trivia Crack with no issues at all. I have an iPhone 6, running IOS 9 beta. I wonder if other people using the beta are seeing no issues as well.

By Bahzad on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 - 23:18

The same problems happen on my end, and I did try reinstalling the app in hopes that it'd work. Apart from the informational messages that pop up when you first get the game, nothing seemed to have reset. In fact, it remembered my credentials and ongoing games.

Quote from Misty:
"I do hope that, even after the update, I don't have to re-install the app cold. Wouldn't that delete all my scoring and other data if I do have to do that?"

No it shouldn't delete that data. At least, I think the scoring and account info's stored on their servers, so when you reinstall and log back in you should have everything.

In any case I'm experiencing crashing issues like everyone else. All I have to do is touch the new card section below the games where it is my turn, and the app crashes. To get around this, I just open the app without touching the screen at all, and swipe up with three fingers. This should move the card section out of the way, as I think that's what's crashing it.
If you have a turn to take, your game will be above this section and you can just touch the top half of the screen to get to it. Be careful not to touch too low, though. The top half of the screen should work.

I know some people running the beta and the issues are happening. so yeah dunno. I guess we;'ll see what happens. At least that's what they say on twitter.

By Santiago on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 - 23:18

Hello,
Does anyone have any information on contacting them directly? I tried looking at their support website, and there are four selections as to the product I'm contacting them about, and they're all unlabeled as well. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong support site.

By Misty Dawn on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 - 23:18

The following little tip may be helpful at least for those who have partial vision:

I have found that, since I have enough vision to at least see when new games are added to the "your turn" list, if you simply tap where you see the new games instead of sliding down to them with your finger or instead of swiping left to right on the screen, the game hasn't (yet) locked up on me or crashed.

Now, so far, I've only tested this a handfull of times, but I just throught I'd throw that out there as at least a possible solution for at least some people here for now.

If you're not a tweeter, the only other way I found to contact Trivia Crack was on the website use the "post a question" link. The page that comes up asks for your name, etc. then what game (TC is the last one in the list box) your platform (I just pick the most recent because the choices are not current) and then there's an edit box for your comment. Hang in there.

By Bahzad on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 - 23:18

I have found a workaround to avoid the bug: once the app is launched, I tap on the screen above the home button. I generally land on the friends button (header friends alpha), according to VoiceOver. Swipe left and you will see games in progress or ones that either ended or expired.

By Katherine on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 - 23:18

Has anybody heard anything solid about when Trivia Crack will be fixed? I can get a lawyer to write a letter talking about access laws in general for $400, but it's kind of pricey way to get their attention. Other thoughts for actions?

By Kevan on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 - 23:18

I didn't know there was another version. Is 2.2 accessible?

By Misty Dawn on Friday, September 25, 2015 - 23:18

A blind friend of mine on Twitter contacted them in Spanish and, supposedly, they said they would be trying to address the issue.

By KE7ZUM on Friday, September 25, 2015 - 23:18

They said that the last time, and the time before that. I'll stick to the other trivia game I play when I have the time. They have not yet addressed the accessibility of submitting questions and I've contacted them in badly translated Spanish to address that as well. They had no idea what I was talking about even though I showed them.

By Katherine on Friday, September 25, 2015 - 23:18

Pray tell what is this accessible trivia game you play? I'm all ears!
