echo studio with or without sub

In light of prime day, I want to finally treat myself to a echo studio. However, what I can not decide at the moment is whether it is worth pairing it with the echo sub or not? Will I still get clear deep bass with just the studio or will it help having the sub as well.

Unfortunatley the Echo sub is pretty rubbish when compared to other options out there and with the Studio it's not really needed.

The Studio itself has okay bass, but it's quite muddy and can get a bit boomy, I imagine if you coupled it with a sub it would sound even worse.

Also, the Studio is showing it's age now, when compared to something like the Sonos Era 100 and other more modern speakers for the same money.

I mainly got it since it is still the best amazon speaker out there and I hopped on the prime day deals to snag one for relatively inexpensive price.
I did pair it with the sub but now I find that I have to always tell it to play on my speaker group I created with it. This implementation is a bit messy and I just wish that I can get it to play on it's own without having me to always tell alexa to play in that group.
Half the time I can't even tell if it's even playing.
