Description of App
If you're a musician who likes to learn new songs and techniques by listening to the same piece of music over and over but wish that the music could be played a little slower, then you'll enjoy Amazing Slow Downer.
You can repeat any section of the music at full speed, slow it down or even speed it up by changing the speed between 25% (1/4 of original speed) and 200% (double speed) without changing the pitch!
Change the tuning or musical key? No problem, Amazing Slow Downer handles that as well.
Setup seamless loops by touching the "Set" buttons during playback.
Amazing Slow Downer is the ideal tool for any musician, transcriber or dancer wanting to improve their skills.
Important notes:
Cannot play DRM protected files from the iTunes store (m4p and audio book files).
Requirements: Compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation and newer) and iPad. Requires iOS 4.3 or later.
Comments
With these issues, one
Not just in this app.
There is a free Amazing Slow Downer Lite Editiom
Music browser bug has been corrected in iOS 5.1
Good accessibility now.
Nice addition of adding songs from Dropbox in latest update
Getting files out?
Don't think you can export files with these changes
Apps that let you change playback speed without altering pitch are generally designed to let you listen to files at different tempos and/or pitches -- they're not meant to let you make editiing changes or re-write files. I'm not aware of any tempo changing iOS app, regardless of accessibility status, that will currently let you rewrite the altered files for access outside the app, apart from Audiostretch, And that feature was only added to Audiostretch earlier this month. You might find that feature in a general audio editing app that can also adjust speed and pitch.
FLAC Support?
My entire library of music, practice tracks etc. is in FLAC. Will Amazing SlowDowner handle flac files?
no flac at this time
The app doesn't support flac at this time, but as a user, I can say that it is updated frequently. I will see if I can send feedback to ask for the feature. As of now, the app will not do that.
This app is amazing! Totally worth it!
Subject says it all. For a guy that transcribes as much as I do, this app is a life saver when I'm on the go. The dropbox support is excellent, and it supports 2-finger magic tap for play/pause functionality.
Adjusting loops, and speed decrease, is it accessible?
I tried the Mac version, and i like it so much,
Need to ask about 3 things here and hope they are accessible:
- adjusting the loop points , and changing them, is it accessible and easy?
- moving the loop points, is it accessible? i mean, if i have a loop 10 seconds long, on mac i press a shortcut and it moves it to start from second 11 to second 20, is it available and accessible on ios?
- decreasing speed and changing pitch, is accessible?
ASD free version review - not easily accessible with voiceover
I am using an iPhone 14 pro with IOS 16.1. I downloaded the latest version of ASD free version 6.7.7
I have found the app mostly accessible with voiceover except for the important Items listed below. I have exchanged several emails with the developers. Below find my summary letter I sent this morning

I appreciate you working with me to get asd working for me.
Here is what I am running into:
I can get the pitch slider to work some of the times. I am moving the semitones up and down a small percentage with each slide (.25 or .48 of a semitone) For those ho want the granularity of pitch that may be fine. I am looking to move from g to a or some other full semitone for each slide
For the rate no matter how many times I double tap; hear the tone; and slide my finger, the rate does not change.
It would be wonderful if the pitch could change one semitone at a time in addition to the decimal movement.
As far as sliders and change of pitch or tone it would be great if the pitch and tone changes worked like changing the page number of the iPhone screens. At the bottom of the screen there is a page number. I swipe my finger over to the page number; I hear "page x of x adjustable"; voiceover says "double tap to open spotlight swipe up or down to adjust the value". All I need to do at this point is to swipe up or down to change the page number. Once the page number changes, voiceover automatically announces the new value.
I play the banjo. On my right hand I have 2 finger picks and one thumb pick. Just reaching over to the phone screen and swiping up or down is a lot easier than double tapping ...etc.
Also when I finally get the pitch to change, voiceover does not announce the new value. I need to swipe down to the pitch value to hear what I have done. For the page number example, voiceover automatically reads the new page value. One finger one swipe and I am there. Much more friendly. Also as I stated above I cannot get the rate change to work
While I am on my comments. For the loop start and end, I can easily set the beginning and end loop points. The only problem is that I need to swipe several times to get to the end point button after setting the start point. There is a bunch of controls like "loop is on", "manage loops", "half loop", "double loop", "slide loop backwards", "slide loop forward", and then I get to set loop end. It would be a lot easier to have the set loop start and stop next to each other. I am sure all the other controls are useful, but each time I need to set start and stop, I need to swipe a number of times to get to each set control.
