battery-operated wifi doorbell

Hi all,

I'm looking for a wifi doorbell so that when somebody comes to the door I can talk to them through the door before letting them in. I don't have a doorbell of any kind right now though and I don't know anybody who can wire one for me so whatever I get needs to be battery-operated, and I need to be able to use either my iPhone or alexa to communicate with the visitor.

I'm aware of the Ring doorbell and the Blink doorbell but in my research I've seen at least one other option mentioned so I'd like to see what recommendations I can get. Btw all I'm interested in is the doorbell with the 2-way communication, I don't need a camera unless I can't get what I want without getting the camera as well.

Thanks.

I do not know of a doorbell that has audio and no camera. They seem to have both or none. Check out the Google Nest Doorbell Battery. Yes it has a camera but you can turn off all the motion alerts and forget it is there. It works with the Google Home app, which is mostly accessible. That is the big driving issue, per usual, finding accessible apps. Ring was ok at the beginning, then got tterrible so I left that ecosystem. I do not know if it has improved in recent years. For now from an accessibility perspective I'd suggest Google, or look for something that is Apple HomeKit compatible.

I don't have a google home so presumably I couldn't use the google nest is that right?

The camera isn't a dealbreaker for me, it's just that I don't need one for what I want. The ring app not being great is a possible problem but I could work around that by always using alexa to answer the door.

I’ve recently switched from Ring to the Google Nest Doorbell battery and would highly recommend it. The accessibility of the Google Home app is almost perfect in my opinion, certainly far better than the Ring app for answering the door.

It doesn’t matter that you don’t have any other Google Home devices, it can work with Alexa for doorbell announcements and being able to talk to the person at the door.

Thanks I will look into the google nest then. That's why I asked the question was to get other's opinions, and I have heard of google nest but assumed that I'd need a google device to use it.

Can I talk to somebody using either my phone or alexa with this doorbell? That's my main goal with whatever I end up getting is being able to know who's at the door before opening it.

No. Since I already live in a condominium with 24 security, I know who is coming, bell is just so I know the person is outside the door.

Hi you can either use the ring video doorbell or the euphy doorbell.
Both apps are accessible with voiceover.
