Voice Over Problems with 5.01 JB

Hello: I recently jailbroke my ipod touch 4th gen running IOS 5.0.1 (jailbreak was untethered). I have had a problem where spring board will crash after rebooting the device. I am presented with the error message, and have two options to hit "OK," or "Restart" (as in to restart springboard). If I hit the restart button, springboard will reload, but I am unable to interact with items at the bottom of the app screen. For example, I am able to open the app store, but am unable to select the tabs at the bottom of the screen such as update or search. Visually, on the screen, I have been told that the icons and items on the screen have shrank to only take up about a third of the screen, and the rest of the screen is black. I have tried to restart the Ipod, by turning it back on and off again, respringing the device using respring, and to force the error to reoccur by using up the available ram. Unfortunately, I was forced to restore the Ipod to its factory settings, and to restore from a back up to fix the problem which left me without a jailbreak. So, has anyone encountered this situation, and what have you done to resolve it? I would really like to jailbreak my device, but obviously need to solve this problem first. Thank You, Matt

Matt, if you have a jailbroken i-device it is said that there is no way to brick the device. This is true however, there still may be problems with jail breaking. I don't see why you'd want to jailbreak especially with iOS 5. Just my thoughts. My suggestion is to just go back to stock iOS 5.01 and not jailbreak. Aaron L

Hi, Just a question, but how exactly was that last comment useful at all? A solution to a jb problem is not ' just don't jailbreak' . If that was a solution, I reckon the question would not have to be asked. It is true that you cannot brick your device, I really don't know how you would be able to do that using software. You'd somehow have to break DFU mode, which isn't something you do by accident. The problem you are having Matt does sound interesting. That error message you got is quite well known, it happens due to your springboard not playing nice with some jb tweaks. In your case, it seems to be something else jb-related. My suggestion is to retry the jailbreak. If you used redsn0w 0.9.10, try doing it with the latest 0.9.9 beta and then apply the 'corona' patch from Cydia. This lets you go from tethered to untethered. If the problem persists, I doubt you are the only one who is affected. You say that the icons have shrunk visually, ruling out the possibility of a voiceOver issue. Therefore, a google might solve your problem. If not, you can always try to approach the dev-team, pod2g or some other person who's involved with the development of either redsn0w or the corona exploit. Balliol

Hi all, I believe that this was a fixed issue, using redsn0. I'm not sure if that's what you were using to jailbreak, i believe he released an update for this yesterday or today. I hope that helps.
