the app itself wasn't 100%
iHeart Radio has been updated
iHeart Radio has been updated. They added a sleep timer and alarm feature. I've not played with either, but I disovvered that in the home area of the app content is still refreshing every few seconds. If you get into one of the tabs it will not refresh thank God. I've finally been able to find stations to listen too and I created a couple of stations for the first time.
Maybe not a joke, but not friendly, for sure.
I agree, John. OOTunes is excellent. While it costs a few bucks, OOTunes is accessible and takes far less time to get to the stations you're looking for. iHeartRadio needs to take some cues from other accessible apps. Not just for the sake of users of screen readers, but for general ease of use. People want to get to their content, not spend a lot of time fiddling with an uncooperative app.
App Works Fine at Least For Me
I'm using an iPhone 4S with iOS7, and the app seems fine. It's not the friendliest app I've ever seen, but if i had to give it a rating, i'd say the app is completely accessible if you're willing to tolerate a few issues. I'm not seeing any automatic refreshes. The buttons aren't 100% labeled but they're clear enough to be easily figured out. I've been able to work with settings, create stations, like and dislike songs, browse and favorite stations, etc. It's just my opinion, but those in charge of the ratings on Applevis might want to take another look at this one, because I really think it deserves a better rating. If anybody has specific questions concerning this app, I'll be happy to try and help.
Version 5.0.0
What's New in Version 5.0.0
The best-looking iHeartRadio ever. Completely free.
• For You - Find a new world of stations you'll love, based on the music you listen to.
• New Player - Go to Settings > Player Display to unlock it.
• Search – Rebuilt and lightning fast. Millions of tracks, thousands of stations.

My accessibility observations so far for this version:
Before 5.0.0, I could log into my Facebook just fine, browse for stations, thumbs-up/down a song, Etc. Most buttons were clearly labeled.
Now, with 5.0.0, I can still search for stations, see my recently-played stations, favorites, etc. However, once I'm in a station, most of the buttons aren't labeled correctly. There's a button that says selected, I'm not sure what it does. The thumbs-up and thumbs-down buttons just say 'button'. The back button, the song title/artist and the stop button are all labeled.
I've only tried out the new version for a few minutes, so I can't comment on the battery life thing, and I haven't tried out the new features just yet. I just thought that people would be interested in the accessibility of this app again.
Update to my comment:
I can't seem to get to settings in the app. I tried doing what I used to do in the previous version, hit the button at the top that says nav inactive. When I did this, it brought up my favorites again, and gave me the options to see live stations, create a station, etc. I couldn't find settings. VoiceOver physically won't read some things at the bottom of the page, so I'm not sure what they are.
Overall, so far, I think this update takes a major step back in terms of accessibility, compared to the previous version(s). The app had been pretty accessible for months now, and then they sort of break it. I say 'sort of' because, as far as listening to stations goes, it still works fine. I just can't seem to use most of the extra features that I could use before.
I'm somewhat disappointed.
Any Accessibility Improvements?
I haven't update this app since sometime in May, because I read that version 5.0 introduced some issues with accessibility. I'm just wondering if the more recent updates have addressed any of these problems.
can't get live radio station to play after search
I'm using ihradio on an ipad and after searching for a station, it won't let me play it. It says thename and then name matches or call letters match but is not clickable. I can't find any way around this.
Accessibility ratings need to be updated
The app is now fully accessible with VoiceOver, and all buttons are clearly labeled. The accessibility ratings need to be updated.
