Accessibility Comments

The game can be played with VoiceOver on or off. You have to plan your moves carefully but all you have to do is swipe and double-tap in order to carry them out. Though you will most likely need to tap three times with three fingers to enable/toggle accessibility mode upon first launch. At least this is what I had to do and the developer could unfortunately not provide clear instructions on that so I had to figure it out myself. Auto-enabling accessibility mode if VoiceOver was detected to be enabled, was yet another thing I suggested, but the developer told me it would cause some issues. As for why not all but most page elements are announced properly by VoiceOver, it is because you can't double tap the World Map option on the main screen. I asked the developer why, to which (s)he responded that everything that was shown there, could already be viewed on the diplomacy screen. There may be some other things that we can't access with VoiceOver but the app is quite usable overall.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads most page elements.

Button Labeling

Most buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

There are some minor accessibility issues with this app, but they are easy to deal with.

Other Comments

Don't really know why this wonderful game and others by this developer (iGindis) have not yet made it to this website, but I am happy to be sharing WorldEmpire2027 with everyone. I have been in touch with the developer for no longer than a couple of weeks but we have already exchanged dozens of e-mails so far and the developer appears quite interested to know how the game can be made even more convenient for visually-impaired players. As of now, many issues, including duplicate options, have already been reported to the developer by me and some have already been fixed with the latest update. I can personally tell the developer is doing his/her best to fix any issue reported to him/her, and implement the suggestions (s)he receives. I offered some suggestions like receiving notifications for multiplayer events directly on the device, multiple save slots, and new VoiceOver gestures to jump to the top or bottom of the screen and go back without having to choose the back button, all of which will likely be implemented in the future. Oh by the way, my player ID is 742440.

does anyone know if it is possible to make this game accessible to the blind using standard voiceover tools, without any additional accessibility modes? it would be clearly more convenient, for example, voiceover gestures could be used. Has anyone contacted the developer about this?

By Enes Deniz on Friday, June 23, 2023 - 21:17

You have the diplomat letters or whatever that's called in the relation news section. By the way, don't know if I've already answered that before, but let me respond to complaints about having to swipe from the very top all the way to the very bottom. I asked the developer to add new gestures to do that (jump to top or bottom, by tapping with four fingers near the top or bottom respectively) but it appears that the developer is not so informed about this Unity plug-in that makes the game accessible. And I don't know whether the gestures can be modified or new ones can be added either. But you may flick up or down with one finger to jump between various sections and this should still save some time. Another thing I do if there's only one section and I can't flick up or down, is to tap the top of the screen to jump from somewhere near the bottom of a very long list directly to the first item, usually the window title.
The idea to implement standard gestures sounds great but I doubt the developer will be able to make that. Though it's still worth a try and would make it much more convenient for us.

By DMNagel on Friday, June 23, 2023 - 21:17

There are three countries from which you can buy anti ballistic missiles in bulk, and the United States is one of them. Can’t remember the other two.

By DMNagel on Friday, June 23, 2023 - 21:17

They could implement an option to browse countries by letter. We could for example, select a letter from the drop-down menu and only the countries starting with the letter will show up.

By Tristo on Friday, June 23, 2023 - 21:17

I like that idea, and would like it if you could do something similar with technologies, sorting them into different categories military people ect.

By Enes Deniz on Friday, June 23, 2023 - 21:17

Categorizing techs would be particularly good. By the way, you don't necessarily have to ally with the US to buy anti-ballistic missiles. You can manufacture those of your own.

By Firefly on Friday, June 23, 2023 - 21:17

One thing that I am curious about, is, I’m wondering if you could ally yourself with all of the countries in the game that’s making it, so that probably no one would attack you, and you could just sit back and let all the other countries destroy themselves? That would probably be a really boring way to play the game, and I personally wouldn’t do it myself, it just peaked my curiosity that’s all.

By DMNagel on Friday, June 23, 2023 - 21:17

To Enes Deniz thanks, but I already know that you can manufacture your own antiballistic Missiles. However, I was just pointing out that if you want to buy them in huge bulk, you should align yourself with the United States. To firefly, it is certainly possible to do the thing you were just talking about. In fact, I literally did it. Every time I got a relationship decline letter, I just went back into the diplomacy screen and paid off the country into liking me again. Then I just sit back and watch them kill each other off. Somehow, it was Germany who got to face me in the end. Since they ended up conquering so many countries, they had a population of a few billion. Obviously I was playing on cheat mode, so I used a few million nukes. I believe it would be difficult to perform that strategy without the sandbox, because you may need a lot of money to pay off countries sending you relationship decline letters.

By Enes Deniz on Friday, June 23, 2023 - 21:17

Yeah, making your own anti-ballistic missiles will require some money and patience especially if you pick a weak country. By the way, making multiple countries your allies I haven't tried but such a thing would be costly because those allies have their own relations with one another and other countries so it's quite possible that they annull their alliance with you or further deteriorate their relations with you when they declare war on each other or a country that other allies of yours have good relations with. By the way, can anyone somehow reproduce the following bug? Even if a country has no civilian population but does have rebels then you or other countries can take diplomatic or military action against it. And you know what I did? Since this country had no civilians or troops to attack me, I declared war on it and could thus request my allies' aid. You know, they also send you money and arms. Oh and here's another bug: Save the game at every turn and just quit if things go wrong. This way you can undo the last turn(s) and return to the "checkpoint" at any time. Well, this does not apply to multiplayer games though, so you still have to rely on your strategies to win there.

By DMNagel on Friday, June 23, 2023 - 21:17

I mean, it’s literally what save systems are for, especially in single player games. Just don’t save after doing your mission LOL. There is one bug though, where if you close the game and re-open it, you cannot attack a country immediately. You must first pass the turn.

By Enes Deniz on Friday, June 23, 2023 - 21:17

Whoa, this bug you mentioned I've not noticed before. As for why I called the save thing a bug, because the normal thing would be to have the game saved automatically as you already have one single slot to save your game to, or you can save only one game at once. So why do you still have to save it? It should save automatically so that you shouldn't cheat by just quitting and relaunching the game to return to your self-made checkpoint. And another problem is that I lock the screen and put the device away, only the find the app killed when I unlock the device to resume playing after a while. So I already save my game every so often but those who don't, will lose their game. And then there are those who happen to lose their game when they start a multiplayer game without saving the single-player game.

By DMNagel on Friday, June 23, 2023 - 21:17

I’ve also noticed another minor bug, though this is mostly for the people using the sandbox. When purchasing aircraft carriers, there is no option to purchase the maximum allowed, so you have to buy 100,000 every time. While it is a minor bug, it would still be neat if the maximum allowed button was available.

By Enes Deniz on Friday, June 23, 2023 - 21:17

Okay, didn't try it myself but it could be something similar to the fact that you can't permanently have more than 999.999.999 million dollars, by which I mean your total money will ultimately be reduced to 999.999.999 million dollars next turn even if you do have more than that at some point. So the game may have such limits. And speaking of aircraft carriers, have you ever encountered anything like a landlocked country being conquered through a naval invasion? And even landlocked countries are stated to be under "sea siege" in the news section, so this also has to be fixed because they have no coastlines already. In reality, you would expect a country to be unable to buy weaponry when it has no airports or no countries to deliver the arms to it by aircraft, and when all its borders are either besieged or shared with other countries that do not have sufficiently good relations to request or buy arms from.

By DMNagel on Friday, June 23, 2023 - 21:17

Has anyone purchased the war generals? They seem a bit expensive, but I’m still curious to know what exactly they do and how effective they are. Is anyone willing to share some info? I still have a long way to go with purchases. For one thing, I need all the spy missions and some of the diplomacy options.

By Firefly on Friday, June 23, 2023 - 21:17

I have used the war generals. I’m not sure what effect they have, but still, they seem kind of cool!

By Enes Deniz on Friday, June 23, 2023 - 21:17

Buy/unlock the generals option and you'll get a bunch of historical generals with various bonuses. One will increase your artillery accuracy by a certain percentage; another one will increase your air defense systems' accuracy by a certain percentage etc.

By Tristo on Friday, June 23, 2023 - 21:17

So, I tried the military aid package, but I’m not a huge fan of it. So you can deploy 20,000 troops, and whatever else, but you don’t get any news from them. It would be good if losses would come up in war news about the country, you sent the troops to. Also, it would be good if you could send as many trips as you want Only for peacekeeping missions, but just to attack and help other countries that are in war

By DMNagel on Friday, June 23, 2023 - 21:17

Ask them for a minute of their time to help you watch your five daily ads. You will get 20 tokens for each add. Also, accessibility mode must be turned off, otherwise the ads won’t appear. That being said, if you follow a good streak, you can get most items every five days.

By Enes Deniz on Friday, June 23, 2023 - 21:17

Let me e-mail the developer on the problem with watching ads with accessibility mode on. As for sending as many troops to a country as you wish, you can do that for arms through the military assistance option but yes, we can't do it for troops.

By SportsGamer on Friday, June 23, 2023 - 21:17

I bought the option to do ballistic attacks on military bases. However, despite having nuclear warheads, it's only letting me launch explosive warheads on military targets. Is anyone else having this issue?

By DMNagel on Friday, June 23, 2023 - 21:17

The thing is, nuclear weapons are designed to destroy everything and thus, attacking military only targets with nuclear weapons would be next to impossible. that’s why you can only use normal ballistic weapons on military targets. I don’t think that it can be considered a bug, because when using nuclear weapons, civilians will die no matter what.

By Enes Deniz on Friday, June 23, 2023 - 21:17

Chemical and biological weapons also likely spread to or affect a larger vicinity. By the way, I guess it's a bug that both you and others can build or upgrade their biological, chemical and nuclear weaponry facilities even if the use of these types of warheads is set to not allowed.

By DMNagel on Friday, June 23, 2023 - 21:17

By the way, what did the dev say about the daily bonus ads? Will they fix it? I know they probably thought they did us a favour, because one’s going in to the ad screen, it’s not easy to get out of there and you will need to close the app anyway. However, if we’re going to get those daily bonuses, we will need to have access to those ads even if access ability mode is on.

By Enes Deniz on Friday, June 23, 2023 - 21:17

Waiting for a reply and the issue to be fixed in a future update. The developer's been welcoming bug reports and suggestions so I hope this issue also gets fixed soon. I also reported some other problems that I've faced, like some options in the settings window still having duplicates, and being unable to toggle them when double-tapping. The Unity/accessibility sounds, like the clicks and other sounds when you move the cursor or interact with on-screen objects, are also gone since I updated to the latest version.

By DMNagel on Friday, June 23, 2023 - 21:17

Those clicks were really helpful, though luckily it’s not a game breaker.

By Karina Velazquez on Sunday, July 23, 2023 - 21:17

Hi, I have a problem. I allied with the US but every time I attack a country, the one controlling it is the US, although my territory increases but at the end of the day they are under control of the dad of all countries.

By Karina Velazquez on Sunday, July 23, 2023 - 21:17

I don’t think so, because yesterday I was attacking El Salvador and managed to explode their industrial targets, and once I did so , my territory was increased but when I go to see El Salvador’s information, it said “controlled by the US”

By Enes Deniz on Sunday, July 23, 2023 - 21:17

Hi,
I got in touch and the developer replied a while ago but only now have I finally been able to post about it. So the developer is aware of the issue with the clicks and thanked me about the other ones, saying they would be fixed in the next update soon, but we couldn't reach an agreement with regards to the ad problem. You know, this is an issue that Google has to fix and I already reported that to Google so I can't do much else on that, and the game's developer is predictably not willing to let us get free tokens without having to watch ads, because it is one of the few sources of their revenue. The developer told me we had other ways to earn free tokens, like inviting others, and I tried to explain that it would not be fair as sighted people could also do that but they did also have the opportunity to watch ads and could get 100 tokens every days without inviting anyone. I suppose I could convey my point but the issue won't be fixed unless Google decides to.

By DMNagel on Sunday, July 23, 2023 - 21:17

Before you even try the workaround, you have to be both sure and confident that you can turn accessibility mode on and off without making problems for yourself. First, open the app and turn off accessibility, then close the app. Next, open the app and turn accessibility on, go to the extras screen and watch an ad. When the ad is finish, close the app. Now, repeat steps until you’ve watched all ads.

By Enes Deniz on Sunday, July 23, 2023 - 21:17

No, thanks. Just mess up once and you'll have to reinstall the app, most likely losing your current game in the process. Or you'll have to request sighted assistance.

By Karina Velazquez on Sunday, July 23, 2023 - 21:17

Hi i really don’t understand what could we manage on the economy page. It only states the type of trade i have with each country, but is there a way to make more money on that page?

Also, how could I increase my money if I’m playing with an average country like Mexico? When I play with Mexico, I have an increase of like 40000 each turn, while using Germany, I start with an increment of like $150,000 per turn.

Thanks.

By DMNagel on Sunday, July 23, 2023 - 21:17

The economy tab is exactly how you described it. If you want a better income, you must go to the diplomacy screen and improve your relations with other countries. Alternatively, go to technologies and upgrade your education.

By DMNagel on Sunday, July 23, 2023 - 21:17

Improving your agriculture will also allow you to gain more civilians, which will also help to gain more money. Otherwise, conquer some countries and you will then get their civilians. Lastly, make sure to have a bank and don’t forget welfare systems for each country you conquer.

By Karina Velazquez on Sunday, July 23, 2023 - 21:17

Hi, how to ensure I have welllfare systems in each conquered country?

thanks in advance

By DMNagel on Sunday, July 23, 2023 - 21:17

You can purchase welfare levels there.

By Tristo on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 - 21:17

So not sure if this is just a bug, or I'm doing it wrong, but I played as the US, and got taken over by China. Now, you would think the game would end, but when I pass to the next turn, I'm still in the game, however I have no money, and the population of the country is at 0. Anyone else had this issue?

By Enes Deniz on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 - 21:17

The developers are quite interested to receive bug reports and suggestions. I've reported tens of bugs so far. Their e-mail address should be something like contact@igindis.com.

By Enes Deniz on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 - 21:17

The latest update lets you make your own scenarios and alliances, and probably fixes some bugs, some of which I reported myself.

By SilverMoon on Saturday, September 23, 2023 - 21:17

Hey So I know someone on here commented that this was also playable on the pc. What's the accessibility like? Also, is there a way to join another world, or have other people randomly join yours? Do you have to set a password and what nots? Just think it'd be cool to play with other random players.

By Tristo on Saturday, September 23, 2023 - 21:17

I really like this game, but the developers really need to find a way to navigate the countries list easier. I mean it is so time consuming navigating through the countries list. Even if it was something like being able to get to the last country in the list and navigate from there. The new custom scenario sounds great, but I haven't tried it because it has taken so long to select my Alliances. I would really like to be able to navigate the countries list a little bit easier. I have emailed the developers about this, and some other bugs that I found, but have had no response.

By Karina Velazquez on Thursday, November 23, 2023 - 21:17

Hi, I haven’t manage how to conquer the world.

But now I’m on a game that has taken me at the farest level I have been ever.

But how do I conquer a country that has no sea borders? I mean, when countries have sea, there is a moment when I can invade them by sea and I conquer them, but I’m stocked with 3 countries that although it seems that they no longer have military forces, they haven’t been conquered by me, and it has taken like 25 turns and still can’t succeed.

Thanks in advance.

By DMNagel on Thursday, November 23, 2023 - 21:17

When you conquer their neighbour, you can be next to them and conquer them also. If there is no neighbour to conquer, you will be out of luck and your best choice will be to nuke them or blow them to bits with ballistic missiles.

By Enes Deniz on Thursday, November 23, 2023 - 21:17

Find the Technology option in the menu and look for sea invasion there, which will enable you to conquer countries with which you don't have land borders.

By Karina Velazquez on Thursday, November 23, 2023 - 21:17

Thanks Enes Deniz but the main fact is that this 3 countries don't have sea borders, so your option would be not useful.

By Enes Deniz on Thursday, November 23, 2023 - 21:17

I do know what I'm talking about and this nonsense is but one of many things to be fixed that I've already reported to the developer ever since I first posted about the game on Applevis months ago. I had even been working on fixing the English and Turkish translations, but then the developer told me they wouldn't be able to implement it. Anyway, the result's that you have to have aircraft carriers in order to conquer Mongolia or even double-landlocked Liechtenstein.

By Tristo on Saturday, March 23, 2024 - 21:17

Playing as the US, and I've pressed declare war on all. I don't expect to win, just seeing how far I get.

By DMNagel on Saturday, March 23, 2024 - 21:17

I wish the cheat mode could be used on hotseat multiplayer, not the online multiplayer mind you. It would be nice to have a super alliance with a friend sitting right next to you.
