Accessibility Comments

the game is accessible, the developer is the same developer who created crafting kingdom. However there are some major accessibility issues in this release. this is the first release that introduces accessibility, and they do state its a beta. some issues that I have identified include focus being incredibly unreliable when navigating settings, the game map, and the research screens it moves to the wrong object frequently when flicking. this happens with both VoiceOver and the built in accessibility mode. With VoiceOver important information is often interrupted. if you want to watch adverts to get rewards such as energy sells, this isn't accessible, its impossible to close out of the adverts after watching. other screens with issues include the warehouse, if you go in there accidentally and don't want to or can't connect to a building you can't get out of the connection screen. this feels very rough accessibility, and really I think needed more private testing by beta testers before release.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads all page elements.

Button Labeling

All buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

Other Comments

I also encountered another bug where I got my reward for completing the first sector, but then I tried to use it and VoiceOver stopped reading stuff in the game when I tried to use it, so I had to quit and restart it, and at that point I lost my reward. A final major problem is that timers seem to stop running if you lock your phone or leave the app, which means its just not practical to do longer research tasks of 3 or 4 hours, how this bug hasn't been noticed before now i'm not sure. even though the game obviously has major issues at the moment in terms of accessibility, if you like resource management games this is going to give you hours and hours of fun. the developer was really good about crafting kingdom accessibility, so I think we really should engage constructively with them, I have already sent some initial positive feedback.

At the top where it says your colonists and your gold, it also says what amount of money you gain per minute. Having more colonists, meaning making more living quarters and farms and connecting them to the warehouse, will give you more money. Make sure you activate a task (short-term investments are for less time and give you more money per minute). Using time orbs, boosting your complexes, and also using upgrade kits on them can give you more production per minute. Let me know if you have more questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

By KE7ZUM on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

Someone actually suggested in the discord that you swipe to a building it will be center. This would make it easier to find empty slots. Or maybe a thing to show empty slots as my planet is quite crowded as "m trying to get to 1.5 k per minute and it's not possible. I like the fact I can now transfer workers which is nice.. Wish there were a way to destroy buildigns though in case I don't want them anymore and replace them with other options. I saw a shut down building thing for factgories but that was about it.

By alex wallis on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

how do you get discord to work with VoiceOver? I can't find the toggle draw option which I have read about on ios, and the windows version doesn't work at all for me. research projects seem totally broken in this version, before they used to stop whenever you leave the app, but now if you start one, leave the app and return to the app it shows rubbish for the research time. for example I started a 10 minute research project, left the app then came back, and the voice read something like 720 hours 19 minutes to complete it.

I had the same problem, too. Sometimes, if you don't have enough money, you'll get the wrong error message. Also when in doubt, go to settings and select "abandon Planet, which is the last thing you'll see on the screen." You can start over on that planet and usually things work out.

Go to the settings screen, and then select "abandon planet." You can start over, and you might hopefully find the crystal region. Also, Until you construct more buildings, certain regions won't show up.

By Grace Amodeo on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

Not sure if anybody knows this. When you're on a planet and you do a two-finger single tap, it'll tell you how much money and energy cells you have. Just discovered this by accident. Also, if you do a three-finger single tap, it takes you right to the colony base. I'll mess around and let you guys know if I find some more little shortcuts.

By vue on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

am i suppose to get skill point every level ? if so then i havent gotten any skill point from level 1 to 4 i think and btw i think they should put a delete option for the buildings we dont want.

By Unregistered User (not verified) on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

I think that's how it's supposed to work actually. I only started getting skill points around level five or something, and I also didn't start making extra money when I closed the game up to that point either. When I receive a skill point, I don't know which skill it unlocks, and I generally have to go through all of them to figure it out. Regarding the research center, yeah, it's definitely busted for sure, and even when a research is finished, sometimes it's difficult to collect the reward, and you have to keep hitting the button multiple times for it to get through to the system. I've only completed 17 of them so far, and I can't even watch adds to get energy cells to do any more of them. Also, there should definitely be an option to resell buildings if you don't want them anymore, and discord? That doesn't seem to work out for me either. When I get on the app, it's in another language or something, and I don't know how to change it

By KE7ZUM on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

I don't have thos eissues. But I'm using the accessibility mode without vooiceover as that's what the developer recommended on the discord.

Take care

By alex wallis on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

the idea with skill poins is you spend them on things you want to that you think will help you, the idea is that all these options are things you can spend them on if you want.

By MusicLover99 on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

So I got on Galactic Colonies today and all my energy cells were suddenly gone. Has anyone been noticing this bug? That's disappointing since I'd been saving them up for awhile... time to save up some more I guess! Not sure why it did this. Update: I guess it was just having a hard time connecting to it. After I tried for quite awhile I was able to get them back and I'm definitely glad about that!!

By MelodicFate on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

So, I'm kinda hooked on this game. I reached level 5 yesterday, and now I somehow have to make $1500 per minute lol. Does anyone know how to use your energy cells or skill points? I'm one of the unfortunate ones for whom closing out ads with the two-finger scrub, or turning off VoiceOver and swiping down doesn't seem to work. Ugh. Even so, this thing is pretty addicting.

hi to invest your skill points first you need to go to space map . but if you are there already just go to character then click on skills and choose witch one you want. for the money just use the boost slots if you have them unlock.

By vue on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

there should be a delete options for the buildings we dont want or we have acceidentaly build them. and get some money back for it.

By Unregistered User (not verified) on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

Watching videos to get energy cells is not accessible either, and I am no longer getting monetary rewards after closing the application

Quantum batteries fusion engines drones or robots

By MelodicFate on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

To find requirements, go to the warehouse, select the product you want it to sell, and then go past all the other products. It should say what you need. I'm wondering how any of you managed to beat the mission on level 5 where you have to make $1500 per minute. I'm barely making $60 lol

By Unregistered User (not verified) on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

Well, activate two the $1000 per minute boost

By Skhye on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

You can also build commercial complexes. They use 25 workers apiece and bring in money.

Hi, thank you for answering my question about the requirements and how to find them. I was able to do that, but now I can’t. When I go past the warehouse and all the things that are sold I mean all the things that are sold out the warehouse I can’t find any requirements. I will take the suggestion though and use the other voice instead of voiceover. Anyways to make money you have three booze and a level five they should get all unlocked, but there is one unlocked and you can use that all the time activate it, and then select cash investment or something like that it’s the first boost anyway. Then you have to watch a little video. It’ll tell you when your boost is an active if you check on Bruce. If you have anymore questions Please ask. I’ll try to help. I love the game. Also you can build commercial complexes in your colony they have task to select there’s a short term a medium term and a long-term investment select those and you can make money.

Hi!
I need help with the computer parts mission of galactic colonies.
I understand that I have to sell 25 computer parts but how do I create the computer parts?, Do I need a crystal extractor? What is it that I need to do? I already have the 150 colonies.

Hello Angel. I am sorry that it took so long to get back to you, I have been busy the past couple of days. From what I can remember, and I am a little rusty on this mission, you need to build a crystal extractor, and then build a warehouse, connect the Crystal extractor to the warehouse, then build a factory, inside the factory screen, when it says to choose what you like the factory per tube juice, choose computer parts. And then build another warehouse, connect the factory to the warehouse that is now storing crystals, and then Build another warehouse, take the factory you have just built and connected to the new warehouse your dress built, that way the computer parts will be stored in the most recent warehouse that you built. You may want to double check the stove since like I said I am a little rusty on his particular mission.

By MelodicFate on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

Thanks for the help, guys! I'd never built a commercial complex before, so had no clue that was its purpose. this will make many things easier in missions to come, that's for sure.

Have been away for some tmee. How do I upgrade ship?

By vue on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

i was just wandering can someone talk to the dev to add a option to delete the buildings we dont want ??

By Unregistered User (not verified) on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

I agree with the other poster that posted about deleting buildings that people don’t want for galactic colonies, and I have another question. Is the astroid field in Galactic Colonies accessible with voiceover? Because I just landed in that area and I don’t know what to do.

By Unregistered User (not verified) on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

Supposedly you can actually delete buildings, but that feature is not accessible with voiceover yet, and also, it's not possible to mine The astroid fields as yet either. From what I have seen on discord, it's some more buildings to level of your experience in the game, and some of these issues have been reported since last December, but they haven't gotten around to fixing them as yet.

Hi Sarah:
I am still trying to make drones. I have some questions if you don't mind. One, how many robotic centers do I need? I tried to connect my construction and computer warehouses but I could only connect one. Two, do I need to select a product before connecting? Three, do I need to connect factories to the center? Sorry for all of the questions. I am so close to finishing this planet!! Any tips or pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi!
Is there a discord server for Galactic Colonies? If there is could someone send me the link because I would like to talk to other people about the accessibility of the game and the problems that voiceover users are still facing while playing the game.

By Unregistered User (not verified) on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

The developers seem to be online right now, but the App isn't all that accessible. But I remove the link I posted here because it didn't work

By Unregistered User (not verified) on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

In reply to by Unregistered User (not verified)

I apologize the link didn’t work.
Is it possible that I could find the server on discord myself?, Is it possible that I can contact The developer to invite me to the discord server? If so what is the developers email address?

By Unregistered User (not verified) on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

You can find the discord in the settings menu up the game

By Skhye on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

Hi Nancy. No problem, this part is really hard, especially because the map isn't Fully accessible yet. I'm sure that's coming. Anyway, here are my answers. I hope they make sense.
1. You only need one robotic center. You do have to connect the warehouse for computer parts and the warehouse for construction materials to that robotic center. If one of the warehouses won't connect, you'll have to make another one that does. I think I ended up making something like 30 warehouses by the time I got everything to link up.
Two. You do not need to select a product before connecting. This is true for factories, warehouses, and robotic centers.
Three. You have to connect each factory to a warehouse. Then connect those warehouses to the robotics center. Also, remember to connect The robotics center to its own warehouse for storing drones. Getting the connection order is really tricky. It goes like this.
Connect the extractor to the warehouse.
Connect the warehouse to the factory.
Connect the factory to another warehouse.
Connect that warehouse to the robotic center.
Connect the robotic center to yet another warehouse.

It took a long time for me to figure out that everything has to be done in the right order, or things won't connect. I can't wait until the map becomes accessible so we can tell what will be able to connect with what. It's pretty maddening when you go around making a dozen warehouses and none of them connect where you need them to.
I hope this was helpful, and don't hesitate to ask questions if you have them. Good luck with that Planet!

Not sure if this is a Accessibility bug or a colony problem in galactic colonies but I am on the mission where I have to have $10,000 in cash I have more than that and my colonies keep going down from 62 to 61 and it keeps going up again by one number. I’m supposed to have 200 colonies to complete the mission what should I do? I have the farm, I have the warehouse to store food, I have a community park, a crystal extractor, a warehouse for crystals, a aura extractor, and a gas collector.

By Unregistered User (not verified) on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

In regards to not having enough people in your colony, perhaps you could use kits from your inventory, if you have any, to upgrade your living quarters, or you could build more of them, along with a few more farms and warehouses. Each farm can only connect to one warehouse, but you can connect up to four farms to a single warehouse, and each warehouse can provide food for up to four sets of living quarters.
Now for my question, before the last update, when I opened up the app after a few hours, I would have some extra money to collect from my colony, and I could double the rewards by watching a video, but that doesn't seem to happen anymore. Am I doing something wrong here? The extra money really helped out a lot, so I would love to get that option back if possible. and I'm not talking about money from the commercial complex, I'm talking about the overall colony, because even when I didn't leave anything running, there would still be some extra money to collect in the game

By KE7ZUM on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

I don't have that issue you are talking about. I'm usihgn the update which works well. Made over 200 thousand dollars that way actually.

By Ather on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

In reply to by Unregistered User (not verified)

Your colony pretty much only generates money over time if you have one of the investment things active, if you have a boost running, or if you have colonists on your planet. I once believed that some of them have to be unemployed for you to generate the income, but I'm honestly not sure one way or the other about that. If you didn't generate money over time, then you likely did not have any of the above-listed on your planet at the time, including colonists.

By vue on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

Does anyone know if the devs are still working on fixing any bugs or new update ??

By SilverMoon on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

yeah, because honestly I'd love to play this game.
However, reading through the comments on this thread and I've literally read them all, it doesn't seem worth the effort, given the accessibility issues and bugs with regards to them.

By Michelle on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

Hi everyone, while we're working on the next update, I wanted to post a bit of information that might help prevent anyone from getting stuck.

Robotics Center
The Robotics Center seems to have a bug that it doesn't announce all ingredients needed properly in accessibility mode. This is on our list of high priority items to fix in the next patch.
For reference, it takes 6 construction materials and 9 computer parts to build a drone, and the build time is 30 seconds. Fusion engines need 50 computer parts, 20 quantum batteries and 100 seconds to build.

Resources
For missions that require you to have a certain amount of a resource in storage, you don't need to find many regions that contain that resource at all. You can do many of these even with just one single tile. Just build a warehouse, and when it is full, disconnect your harvesting building and connect it to the next warehouse.
If you find more resources, you can fill the warehouses up faster, of course, but it isn't technically needed.

By alex wallis on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

Hi Michelle great to see you commenting on here, what about the focus jumping around all over the place do you have a solution, and also what about the research issues, and not being able to tell where buildings are in relation to each other? I just seem to get in a mess with layout in particular.

Hi Michelle, Thanks for posting on here, and thanks for posting about the next update. My question is is there going to be a solution for the astroid field in the next Update?, Another question what about shutting down buildings? One suggestion that I have is that if there are too many buildings people should be able to remove those buildings.

By alex wallis on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

there is already a way non accessibility using players can remove buildings, its just not accessible yet. the other critical issue for me apart from focus and research is that timers don't run when your phone is locked or your not in the game.

By Michelle on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 20:11

We're trying to gauge how many players are experiencing timer issues. So far we have two players that reached out to us, and it's hard to tell whether the bug is only happening on two devices, or if it is happening for almost everybody using accessibility and everyone else is just staying silent, or assumes that the game is supposed to work that way.

Could everyone here who is experiencing that the colonies and the research don't update while they are not ingame either ping me here, write me a PM or contact me? I need more information to decide how widespread this really is.
