Accessibility Comments

the game is accessible, the developer is the same developer who created crafting kingdom. However there are some major accessibility issues in this release. this is the first release that introduces accessibility, and they do state its a beta. some issues that I have identified include focus being incredibly unreliable when navigating settings, the game map, and the research screens it moves to the wrong object frequently when flicking. this happens with both VoiceOver and the built in accessibility mode. With VoiceOver important information is often interrupted. if you want to watch adverts to get rewards such as energy sells, this isn't accessible, its impossible to close out of the adverts after watching. other screens with issues include the warehouse, if you go in there accidentally and don't want to or can't connect to a building you can't get out of the connection screen. this feels very rough accessibility, and really I think needed more private testing by beta testers before release.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads all page elements.

Button Labeling

All buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

Other Comments

I also encountered another bug where I got my reward for completing the first sector, but then I tried to use it and VoiceOver stopped reading stuff in the game when I tried to use it, so I had to quit and restart it, and at that point I lost my reward. A final major problem is that timers seem to stop running if you lock your phone or leave the app, which means its just not practical to do longer research tasks of 3 or 4 hours, how this bug hasn't been noticed before now i'm not sure. even though the game obviously has major issues at the moment in terms of accessibility, if you like resource management games this is going to give you hours and hours of fun. the developer was really good about crafting kingdom accessibility, so I think we really should engage constructively with them, I have already sent some initial positive feedback.

hi all,

i've reached the mission where i have to make fusionengines. but the robotic center isn't as accessible as the factory. so i can't tell what resources are required to make them. could someone please help with this?

By Unregistered User (not verified) on Thursday, April 23, 2020 - 17:38

Can you go back to sectors in the game? In sector 4, I didn't collect the reward from the astroid field because it is not accessible with voiceover, and I completed all the planets, and now I've moved onto sector five. Can I go back in time to collect the reward from sector for when it becomes accessible?

By Joel on Thursday, April 23, 2020 - 17:38

No, you can’t. Once you’re done with a sector it’s impossible to go back

By Skhye on Thursday, April 23, 2020 - 17:38

I completed the Fusion Engine planet, though I swear it came down to luck in the end. THe right warehouses connected, even when I was sure they were too far away. I had to make 3 factories, one for construction materials, one for computer parts, and one for quantum batteries. Once all these were linked to warehouses, I linked the warehouses to the robotic center. Apparently, fusion engines require all three of these products. It took most of a day, but the 70 fusion engines trickled in. Don't be alarm when it looks like nothing is happening. It's extremely slow, but it does happen.

By Brad on Thursday, April 23, 2020 - 17:38

Hi.

Another way to close adds for boosts is to turn voiceover off and flick down with one finger once the add is finished.

By Sabrina on Thursday, April 23, 2020 - 17:38

Apparently I had connected things to my living quarters andd this made it so things did not come out right. I am now producing computer parts.
No, the ore, crystal and stuff are NOT random.

By Sabrina on Thursday, April 23, 2020 - 17:38

It is very detailed and you have to plan a lot. Also, since there are lots of things to upgrade and stuff this is something I love.
I have to think where I build things. This is something I miss in games. I am just frustrated that when you realized that if you go to the connect thing and want to go back without connecting and then I will have to fiddle with connections through that.
I use touch explore on the map. Maybe a little fidly but I always prefer it on the planet.

By Hubert on Thursday, April 23, 2020 - 17:38

Hi all,
I’m on a planet that seems to have no crystal regions, and I need to build one to produce computer parts. Can anyone help?

By Unregistered User (not verified) on Thursday, April 23, 2020 - 17:38

I was stuck on this mission for the longest time, and I tried everything from deleting and reinstalling the game to constantly refreshing the page, but nothing worked. In the end, I actually had to go to the settings menu, abandon the planet, and start over from scratch. On my second Playthru of the mission, that's when the Crystal region finally showed up

By Hubert on Thursday, April 23, 2020 - 17:38

I have tried to abandon the planet and the second time I tried to colonise it the crystal regions haven’t showed up, would it be worth doing it multiple times?

That sounds like a good idea to me.

By Grace Amodeo on Thursday, April 23, 2020 - 17:38

Has anybody else been stuck after having made a factory and connecting it to the warehouse? I took all the steps and it won't produce anything, it's weird.

By Unregistered User (not verified) on Thursday, April 23, 2020 - 17:38

If you're sure that you connected everything properly, perhaps you need more workers?

By Hubert on Thursday, April 23, 2020 - 17:38

Another possible question, apart from abandoning and re-colonising the planet multiple times, has anyone tried to explore all the regions that voice-over finds on the planet screen, if so do more regions appear after the ones that voice-over sees have things built on them or have been explored? considering apparently there is a lot more regions on the screen but voice-over doesn’t pick up all of them straight away, so I’m therefore wondering if that is because the ones that voice-over does focus on have not actually been explored.
Hope that makes sense

By Grace Amodeo on Thursday, April 23, 2020 - 17:38

Musiclover, how did you solve the problem about creating construction materials with factories. I've been loving this game and want to continue. It's my latest adiction. lol

I'll tryThat. I'm so adicted to this game it's not even funny.

Has anyone managed to make contact with the developers to report issues and try to involve them on applevis like they were with crafting Kingdom? I did try emailing michelle who was involved with crafting kingdom and has posted about this game before on applevis, but received no response. I wonder if she is no longer involved with development of this game. I tried to use the option to contact them via discord but it didn't work at all, I have discord installed but the game first took me to a safari page, then took me to the appstore when I tried to join the discord room I was offered the chance to join. I really do feel there is lots on the game that hasn't been tested. I also looked on reddit and found the area for this game developer but it hasn't been active in about a year or so.

By Kristen on Thursday, April 23, 2020 - 17:38

I'm really loving this game. I am stuck on a planet in Sector 4, I think, that requires $1500/minute of productivity. This one's taking me a while to get right, as I'm assuming I need more colonists to make more money per minute ... but keep accidentally placing ore extractors, etc., too close to the living quarters and making the # of colonists willing to live there go down due to the pollution. I also have had an issue where I am building warehouses too far away from the resources, though never had this much of an issue before .... maybe due to luck.

Rearranging the connections once set is a bit annoying since you can't back out of a connect screen without closing the app and re-opening it.

I may wait until there's an update on accessibility to smooth things out a bit before I continue. I was able to force past the focus issues before, though it's become a bit more annoying now haha. It's an addicting game however, even with the accessibility issues!

By Unregistered User (not verified) on Thursday, April 23, 2020 - 17:38

Is it possible to resell buildings? Also, in order to beat this level in terms of getting $1500 for productivity, I activated two 1000 dollar boosts by watching ads

By Kristen on Thursday, April 23, 2020 - 17:38

Oh. I've still been having problems watching ads for boosts so I'd not been able to do that. I may have to try though.

By Unregistered User (not verified) on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 17:38

One bug that I've realized is that when you try to watch ads to get energy cells, it works the first time when you open the game initially, but when you try to watch ads after that, it doesn't work. However, if you're trying to activate a boost for cash rewards or to lower construction time, the ads are all right in that section

By Queenofeagles07 on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 17:38

I don't know how many times I have to ask again
Please-help-me-with-the-second-mission:D

By IceQueen1 on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 17:38

In reply to by Queenofeagles07

you just need to build another living quarters and farm and a warehouse and Connect those. The warehouse is for food

By Sabrina on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 17:38

I am almost done with sector three. I am learning. Also, if you do other 0things than the mission in addition you get more xp. also, it isn't all incremental to an awful extent. There are lots of things to do.

By Sabrina on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 17:38

I have come across an asteroid field. I travel there, then go to details and it asks me if I want to use ten energy cells to do it. I find no button of agreement.

By Paul Martin on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 17:38

For those wondering about how to get increased income, why not use the commercial complexes? The quickest way would be to build up a few of those and use short term investments to raise up the income so you can complete the mission that way. I've done no less than 4 of those mission types like this.
Also, if you're really in a rush to get it done, you could always use energy cells to boost up the complexes too for even higher income.

By Unregistered User (not verified) on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 17:38

The asteroid feels are not accessible, and it makes me wonder if when I get to another one if I can claim the previous reward I would've gotten if I had done it otherwise. Also, the section to upgrade the spaceship isn't accessible either so when I get to another space station, will I be required to pay one hundred energy cells as before or will I have to pay more considering I didn't upgrade the first time? The energy cell section is busted so I can't watch videos for them. There are several places to make purchases though, even various paint colors for the ships. Definitely seems like in this galaxy energy cells are the way to go, and I don't even think you can upgrade or boost the buildings with money, which is kind of strange, but all right then. If I receive any more iTune cards, I will definitely support the developers of this game. ☺️

By KE7ZUM on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 17:38

First, the dev knows it is not accessible. I'm on their discord having a discussion now, well, was. Second the close bug where you can't close out of the connect area will be fixed. The update is out, we just have to wait for apple to approve it and it to be pushed. The space stations are not accessible either according to someone's discord post.

By KE7ZUM on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 17:38

I'm actually on the second sector, and I'm stuck. I've expanded the map multiple times as pointed out on their discord and I don't yet see any crystal squares I can build an extractor on, then a warehouse and factory on. Will I just have to keep expanding the map? Or did I run into another bug?.

By Skhye on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 17:38

First, explore the map as much as you can. Then, either closed and re-open the app, or go to the space map, then return to the planet. You will find more unexplored regions every time you do this.

By MusicLover99 on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 17:38

I'm sorry I didn't see this comment addressed to me until now. The problem I had before was because I didn't have enough workers. The oar warehouse was connected to the factory and the factory to another warehouse already. I kept making living quarters and farms until it started making the materials. A way to tell if you have enough people is to see how many are unemployed. If it says 0 are, then you most likely need more people to complete tasks. It took me forever to figure this mission out as well.

By MusicLover99 on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 17:38

Just recently I unlocked the community park, which gives certain bonuses to buildings adjacent to it, but I'm not sure how to tell which ones are and which are not? This also applies to the problem of making industrial buildings too close to living quarters, and making connections because sometimes I accidentally make them too far away. Does anyone know how to tell what buildings are adjacent to each other? I know this question might sound stupid lol I'm just confused because even when I try to make buildings close to others, or even far away, it still doesn't turn out how I want it to and I have to make lots of adjustments or have a lot less colonists due to pollution.

By Unregistered User (not verified) on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 17:38

I am at sector three, level eight, and I decided not to move on until I can collect the reward from the astroid field as well as upgrade my spaceship, but since watching advertisements for gaining energy cells is not accessible yet, I'm holding off on upgrading to the next level of the game. Anyway, I've noticed that ever since yesterday, whenever I leave the game for a while and re-open the app, I get quite a lot of money. I was getting like 100 K, and now it's all the way up to almost 500 K, and there is also an option to watch a video to double that amount of money. i'm also having the problem of building living quarters too close to industrial buildings, but that's not really a problem because I have almost 100 buildings with 16 living quarters, and I am making so much money despite the mess in my sector.

By MusicLover99 on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 17:38

In reply to by Unregistered User (not verified)

I've never gotten to the point of making that much money and having so many living quarters! I'm definitely gonna do that for one of the next planets I colonize... it requires me to make a Galactic Revenue Service building and I'm nowhere close to unlocking that so I'll probably do what you did instead! That's a great way to make lots of extra cash.

By Unregistered User (not verified) on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 17:38

While I'm waiting for the research section to become beneficial for me without making my phone practically unusable, I'm just over here building up my XP, collecting daily rewards, and when I'm finally getting tired of this level, I'll probably be up to level 10 or more and I'll collect the level rewards at that point

Hi: I am at level 13 and I need to make drones. Anyone know what I need to make them? Thanks.

By Skhye on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 17:38

In reply to by Nancy

To make drones, you need construction materials and computer parts. To make fusion engines, you need construction materials, computer parts, and quantum batteries.

Hi Sarah,
Thank you for the answer. So, I need factories and warehouses for all of these things? I noticed that in the factory area that drones isn't an option. Do I make one anyway and connect it to a warehouse? Thanks for your help.

By Skhye on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 17:38

In reply to by Nancy

Hi Nancy. You will need to build a robotic center in order to make drones. First, build factories that make construction materials, computer parts, and quantum batteries. Make sure each one has its own warehouse where it can send its products. Then, build the robotic center and link those warehouses to the center. Finally, make one last warehouse for the robotic center to send it's drones. I hope that makes sense. Let me know if you have more questions.

hello i came upon the boost slot and i think it's buged. for some reason i cant seem to activate any of the boost. i can click on one of the options to activate them of them but won't work. has anyone stumble upon this bug ?

By Unregistered User (not verified) on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 17:38

I don't have a problem to activate boosts for speeding up production or lowering the cost of buildings, but I do have trouble activating boosts for receiving energy cells. To activate production boosts, double tap the boost that you want to activate, then hit the watch video button, and it should activate when you close the advertisement. You have to do a two finger scrub on the screen to exit the ad, or sometimes switching off voiceover and swiping down with one finger on the screen should close the ad, then turn on voiceover again. I think they should implement a feature where the game would automatically restart when the ad is finished, or after a specific time since some of the ads seem to be longer than 30 seconds.
On another note, I had an idea for exploring the map while using voice over. I sent this to the developers in an email. What do you think of this idea?
When playing this game, colonies can tend to get quite large, and that makes it hard to navigate while using voiceover. Perhaps you could implement a building view in the colony tab? It would be similar to the general warehouse section. I'm thinking of a layout where you have, warehouse, factory, robotics center, and so on. You could also list the number of warehouses and other buildings as well. When you click on each tab, it would show you all the buildings in that category. I'm thinking it would be easier to navigate and check which buildings connect to others without having to re-explore the entire map continuously.

yea i think thats a good idea kadian btw hdoes any one know how i cant make computer parts ?and what kind of material do i need to make them? maybe someone can run down the list of what i need to do to make them. please

Hey guys, just want to let you know that there is an update for Galactic Colonies on the App Store. some bugs have been fixed, but it's still not possible, at least on my end, to watch ads for energy cells or mine The astroid feels. Also, I started leveling up some of the skills, and there is one that says I should be able to complete exploration by using energy cells, but I don't see that option in the game
