Hello, I have also noticed that at times, I am unable to activate the Fleksy menu using either of the two gestures that ordinarily activate the menu. I have found that the problem does not typically occur when I first open the app. Instead, it arises primarily after I have left the app and subsequently returned to it. Best, Michael
Hi if anyone can reproduce this message bug that I seem to be experiencing that would be grate. Basically when I have finished typing and ready to send it away by text message, what seems to happen when I type the first few letters of a person's name e.g. myself. I will get no voiceover feedback. By this I mean if I was to type D, A, N. which thankfully can be done otherwise the keyboard would be completely unusable once a letter is typed and this is regardless of typing method. Voiceover will not confirm the letter that one has typed. Therefore if one was a new user to this app I would and did find it confusing that no indecation of text input was being spoken once the action was taken. The good news is though that using my name again as the example once typed the first few letters and finding the people with the associated name, they do appear in the results. So in other words it still works but there is just no input when typing it in so that it seems that at first glance it doesn't work but in essence it does. In my Voiceover settings I have it set to typing characters and words. Sorry for the long post but I just wanted to make sure that it was understood. Daniel

Daniel: This is an issue that I have found in Fleksy and other apps as well. Generally, I think if you turn Voiceover off and back on it should fix it; at least, that has always been the case with me. Good luck.
I also cannot pull up the menu and have tried both gestures. Fleksy has not worked well for me for the last several updates. I'm wondering if maybe it's my iPhone 4. I'm holding out for the 5S and hope it's better then. I miss Fleksy haha. I can't even use it now with the menu issue. I know the team will work hard on it though so I'm just using Dragon in the interim.

Hi, I know this isn't of much help but I would just like to report that I am receiving the two menu gestures ok. This is using the latest version 1.8 and running an Iphone 5 with the latest IOS version 6.4 So I don't know if this an issue with older models but just wanted to announce for me at least running the latest version of everything. All appears to be grate in this area of the app. My sympathy goes out for those who are experiencing this problem and I hope it gets resolved soon so that those who are having trouble can then benefit from the app again. Thanks Daniel
I've got an iPhone 5 running the latest version if iOS, and so far, I haven't had any of the reported issues. So I'm also wondering if the issues are somehow related to either older models of the iPhone, or older versions of iOS.

By Ro on Sunday, July 21, 2013 - 21:05

Yes, perhaps the problems are limited to older devices. So to be more clear, I have an iPhone 4 running the latest iOS and latest version of Fleksy. Can't wait for the 5S hah!

By mikesn on Sunday, July 21, 2013 - 21:05

Hi Everyone, I earlier reported problems bringing up the Fleksy menu using either of the two available gestures for doing this. I continue to regularly experience the problem. I am using an iPhone 4s with the latest IOS build. Best, Mike

Installed the update, still having the exact same issue calling up the menu with both gestures on my iPhone 4. Doesn't appear to have fixed the problems on old devices.
Just like the person above, I am having the same problem. I have a 4S with the lates IOS version. I updated it today. It was working fine for a while, but now I can't bring up the menue with any of the gestures. This is sad, as I really enjoy this app and use it frequently.

Thanks for the feedback and reports guys! We are currently working on eliminating the menu gestures failing issue. Thanks to your reports, we have data to work with, but please keep reporting your examples. Specifically, if you can recall any actions that may trigger the problem reliably. Thanks so much! Regards, Bill
Thanks Bill! There's nothing for me that causes the problem, I just type my text, touch the top of the screen, nothing. Try the swipe up gesture, nothing. Then there's no talking and I just press the home key to get out of it. iPhone 4, latest iOS, latest Fleksy. Thanks for all your hard work!

Hello, I previously reported that I was experiencing difficulty activating the Fleksy menu on my iPhone 4s using either of the two gestures for that purpose. However, I have been able to use the new Fleksy 1.8.1 to send out about a dozen text messages without experiencing this problem. Best, Michael
Did you see the message bug's Hi Bill, I was just wondering was the team and all users able to reproduce the message bug. When one sense a text message through the app. The caractors are not always announced when you lift your finger off the letter. I'm sorry to report that at times it works and at others the bug crops up again. Its not a show stopper because you can find the person you need to contact. I just wanted to insure that it started in 1.8 of the app other than that, things are all cool with the app for me. An using an iPhone 5 with latest ios update v6.4

By mikesn on Sunday, July 21, 2013 - 21:05

Hello, I evidently spoke too soon when I earlier posted that Fleksy 1.8.1 appeared to fix the menu gesture bug for me. I still encounter the bug, though it appears to occur less frequently in v1.8.1. In addition, It appears that closing the app using the app switcher and then relaunching the app typically temporarily resolves the issue. Michael
Hi Fleksy lovers, I had not been able to resolve the menu bug on my iPhone 4 at all. Out of desperation today I uninstalled/reinstalled, still had the bug, turned off the phone and emailed Fleksy. When I turned the phone back on, the menu bug was gone. Not sure how long this will last but it's done the trick for now so wanted to pass it along. Fleksy is working on the problem and I know they'll fix it.

Hello Everyone, Has anyone heard when Syntellia plans to release an update that will fix the menu gesture bug? I ask because several weeks have passed since the bug was first identified, and I am a bit surprised that the company has not yet released an update that fixes this problem. Thank You, Michael
Hey guys, Thank you all for the feedback and your bug reports. The menu bug has been a bit tricky to eliminate completely, but we are confident we are making headway. We will be releasing the fix very soon. Before we do, though, we want to make sure this issue will not affect any user using any device. This is where your valuable help comes in: Want to help us chase the menu bug away? Send us an email at support@fleksy.com if you are still experiencing the issue, with your device and OS information. Mention AppleVis in the subject line. Thank you!

An option I've come across in another app and that I would like to see implemented in Fleksy is the option to be able to automatically have text copied to the clipboard when I exit Fleksy. It would save me having to go into the menu and would save a lot of time when replying to text messages for example.
Have you tried MBraille? To my knowledge it automatically puts written text to clipboard to be used in other apps

Thanks for implementing the auto copy feature. It's made Fleksy much more easier and practical to use especially when it comes to replying to text messages.
I must agree. It is very handy. And a lot faster, than having to open the menu, and double tap copy. Thanks guys. Keep up the good work.
I have been using Fleksy with the auto copy feature for the past few days and have some feedback. It is one of the best features however, I think it should only autocopy when the user presses the home button to exit Fleksy and not when a system notification dialog pops on screen causing Fleksy to exit. I was trying to type a message yesterday and whenever I recieved a text message or Whats App message, a notification dialog comes on screen allowing me to close or view the message. When this happens, Fleksy auto copy's the text I was typing and I had to keep pasting the text back into fleksy and keep starting from where I left off. I don't think Fleksy should auto copy in this instance as the user isn't exiting Fleksy by their own choice. I also find the delete word gesture to be a little senstive. I manage to delete words when I don't mean too. Do other people find this to be the case?

Has anyone else noticed that you can't use Fleksy while on the phone with iOS 7? I have the latest version of Fleksy and I can't get it to work at all while on a call. In iOS 6 it worked perfectly. I've been having this problem since beta 6 of iOS 7. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

By raaj on Saturday, September 21, 2013 - 21:05

Whether anybody noticed that this fleksy locks while we are typing on it? I was loving fleksy with the earlier version of my IPhone. After updating to IOS7, this phone doesn't care whether I'm typing on fleksy or not, it's getting locked within one minute. I'm just reinstalling it to see whether I get any change.

Yeah the developers know about this. It seems to be an issue with iOS7 rather than the app itself but they are working on it. In the meantime you can triple click home to turn off VoiceOver while you type and you still get spoken feedback in Fleksy. Alternatively you can turn auto lock off in settings.
My problem is not just with Fleksy but with other typing apps like BrailleTouch and MBraille. My text messages that I try and send through all three of these apps are not going through. IT tells me it sent them and clears them from the buffer, but they vanish. Any ideas?
hiya neo, personally, i use banners, so haven't come accross this one. but i'd imagine there should be a way the devs could do something to sotp that happening. mind you, it would hav to work for double press home, so you don't have to go home, you could multi task over to the app you want to drop the text into. but yeah, i'm sure they should be able to find a way to deal with this one. as for the word deletion thing, no, i don't tend to have a problem with it. now, to those syaing they are having trouble with autolocking? .. um, not sure what's causing that, but i am not getting that on my iPhone 5 and iOS 7. so you may want to check your autoloc settings to make sure they aren't getting in the way. though this does not seam to be the problem, something else sounds like its causing a problem. also, what phone arey ou getting this on? as this can make a difference sometimes. for example, somebody told me today, that the face recognition and voiceover's speaking of such, appears not to work in the iPhone 5s, yet seems to still work in the 5 and 4s as before, while running iOS7. lol. so something is a little bit strange with different devices.

Hi all, thanks for the feedback and reports. While we are working on all these issues to improve your typing experience, I wanted to give you a status update and some workarounds: 1) Auto-lock. iOS7 seems to handle VO enabled objects - like the Fleksy keyboard - differently. Essentially, the auto-lock counter won't reset, until the user is done with one object, regardless of how many actions they make within said object. For Fleksy, the whole typing session fits in that one object. After all, VO wasn't designed to accommodate third-party keyboards. Workaround: When you hear the "Screen dimmed" notification, enter the menu and navigate to "Resume". This action will force refresh the auto-lock counter. What we're doing about it: Researching ways around this new limitation, while also respecting the users' auto-lock preference. 2) Full screen notifications clearing text, when Auto-copy & clear is enabled. As of today, Fleksy will copy and clear your text when the user exits Fleksy or receives a full screen notification. An example would be a phone call under default iOS notification settings. Our intention with this feature is for it to only engage when users expect it, meaning only when they press the homebutton. Workaround: Take advantage of the Paste menu option. With Auto-copy & clear enabled, a Paste function will be available as an extra menu option, whenever there is no text in Fleksy. Alternatively, adjust your notification settings to Banners over Full-Screen. What we are doing about it: Distinguishing between user intended and system alerts is not trivial with available tools. As with all things iOS7, the territory is still unexplored, so there is room for improvement. 3) Messages being lost on iOS7. Based on your valuable reports, as well as many reports around the internet, it seems that on occasion, a text message composed will appear to be sent successfully, but will fail to appear in chat history on a second inspection. Reports indicate this issue affecting many apps, not only Fleksy, including the stock iOS Photos app (when attempting to share a picture via a text message). The message, tweet, email, facebook actions are all functions that Fleksy calls from the iOS, meaning that as soon as the messaging screen is invoked, the behavior is handled fully by iOS7 and, unfortunately, we have no control over it. We assume this issue will be fixed with the next iOS release. Workaround: Use the copy and clear action instead, to ensure that sensitive texts have more chances of going through. If they still don't make it, you can always paste them into a new message and try again. What we are doing about it: Research to make sure this is not caused by any rampant piece of code. We've also let Apple know through a bug report. Thank you for all your reports, support and feedback. They truly help us. Let us know if you discover anything else, Regards, Bill

Hi bill, thanks for explaining what happens with autolock, but i have mine set not to lock, and i'm still having this problem. i have an iphone 4, 8gb with the newest version of ios 7... can't remember exact numbers. It's getting to be a bit annoying, i mean, i honestly don't use this app much, but i had to write a paragraph long note, and wanted to try it out. It kept locking on me, and voice over didn't even say screen dimmed. Voice over never even gave any sign that the screen was locking, no sounds, or screen locked notification. It just locked. i had to hit the home button to see what happened and then i figured out it locked... please fix this or at least help. thanks.

hi, this is interesting. i'm on an iPhone 5, with iOS 7.02, and have not noticed this at all. not even when i was on 7.00. perhaps this is particular to earlyer devices for some reason? sounds rather strange, either way.

By Bill Fleksy Expert on Monday, October 21, 2013 - 21:05

Hey Doctoress, Thank you for following up with details about your issue. We haven't experienced this one in-house yet, but that doesn't mean much. As a first check - we have to get these questions out of the way - are you using any new external cases? It sounds like the iPhone is locking with the lock button, otherwise VO should announce locking. Also, are you experiencing this in any other apps? If an accidental press of the lock button isn't the culprit, we would have to log this as a new issue. Still, it is very important for us to get to the bottom of this, so feel free to follow up here or at our support inbox: support@fleksy.com Thanks! Bill

I just posted a new thread about this because I didn't realize that this thread was still active. oops? this is what happens when you only get two hours of sleep. haha. yeah same thing is happening here as well. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app and everything, no go.

All We understand that a critical bug in Fleksy makes it unusable for all users today. The current workaround is to set the clock of your phone a few days back, and the app will work again. We have submitted a bug fix to the app store and have requested expedited review from Apple. We will update you as soon as this is approved. Apologies for all the inconvenience. We will look at our development process so that this issue does not happen again. Regards, Ioannis Founder and COO Fleksy
Hi, what is the reason for this bug? why does fleksy use the time at all? does this mean we will be forced to install updates from now on? as the message said something about updates.
Crazy bug! Thank you so much Fleksy, for getting on this so quickly. I'm sure everyone's questions will be answered as soon as Fleksy knows more. Sounds like Apple threw them a curve ball. Again, thanks so much to the Fleksy team for responding so quickly. You guys never fail to be awesome!

Hi everyone, the bug is occurring over here in the UK. Open the app says there are new features on the app store. Close the dialog box and get kicked out of the app. Repeat the same process but the description above still happens. Just in case those who are using ios7. This is still happening on ios6.4 running on an iphone 5. Interestingly, when I 1st heard about this bug I naturally assumed it would just relate to iOS 7 evidently not. I'm glad that the Fleksy guys are working with Apple and hope there to be a quick fix too as I use this app all the time for my texting Facebook and the like. hmmm strange bug though :( Sorry had to repeat it. lol
Hi, I asked fleksy on twitter what the cause of the bug is, they said that its because sometimes they time limit betas and this got accidentally added to an official appstore release, just thought people might find this interesting.`
Hi Alex, indeed that does sound interesting and a kind of a "woops a daisy" moment. Just goes to show you that mistakes and accidents can happen as it seems in this case. I mean we are all human at the end of the day. lol and such things can occur. Its sounds like what you described doesn't seem to be a major disaster then. At least that's how I am reading it. I am no developer but from what you've shared with us isn't a "end of the world" sort of thing. Just a mistake. Hopefully we'll all be "Happy typing." Again very soon. :)
All Just a quick update from Fleksy HQ. We have submitted a big fix to the app store which will deal with the expiry issue and get Fleksy working on your devices again. We have thankfully been granted an expedited review by Apple, and the update has already been reviewed and approved. The update fixes the critical bug which makes Fleksy stick in a loop, as well as other bugs that have been reported since the last version and we've been working on. We are now waiting for Apple's servers to process this update. This typically takes a few hours, but can take up to a full working day. We believe that due to the Thanksgiving holiday in the US the process might complete on Monday morning, but are hopeful it might be sooner. We will update this forum as well as Twitter as soon as the bug fix is live on iTunes. Our first priority is to get Fleksy working again on your devices. Once that's done, we will review our development processes to ensure the same error won't happen again. We apologize for the inconvenience we've already caused. Thanks for your understanding.
