Description of App

RS Games specializes in the development of accessible games, products and software for the blind and visually impaired. RS Games are played by thousands of visually impaired people on Windows and Mac computers, and Blindfold Games and RS Games teamed up to create this app.

Now you can play any of the 20 different multi-player games on an iPhone, iPad or iPod. Just login with your RS Games account, or create a new account, and start playing.

Several of the games are free, and others are available with an in-app upgrade.

You can start a public game or a private game, or you can join one of the public games that haven't started yet. You can add computer bot players to your game to make it more exciting.

Accessibility Comments

The game is very accessible to use. Please see below for more information about sme non-typical gestures when using this game.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads all page elements.

Button Labeling

All buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

Other Comments

Please note that the typical VoiceOver gesture to swipe left and right in certain areas will not work as expected. For example in the Starting Game section. You will hear Use an Existing Account and if you swipe left or right you will hear Quit. One must use a flick up or down from the Use an Existing Account to find the Create an Account. This can be found throughout the app. So be careful about this gesture. The other is that the Log In can be tricky at first. Enter your UserName and don't touch anything else and use the Return key at the bottom right corner. If you get the response of New Line. You will have to do it over again by shutting down the app and start over. Also, after entering your Password and hitting Return. This next page want to let you know that it will remember your credential so you don't have to remember it again. If I touch anything by swiping or anything you will get stuck. Whenn you get to this page just double tap on the screen without doing anything else. Lastly, for some of you out there I may caution you on the sticker price. As you are aware that you may have been spoiled with the genrous free games on the actual RS Games site. That is not the case in this app. Luckily, you can just purchase the game you want without breaking the bank. Just remember it cost the developer money to create this game and pices like this are pretty reasonable for the work that they had to put in to this.

Leave any suggestions and tips in the Comments below so that others can enjoy and even any feedback for the developer.

Enjoy the game! :)

I have played these on my PC, and these are the same. It is much easier than using the web client when on the go, but I recommend using a bluetooth braille display or keyboard. The hotkeys and ease of chat make it much better.

If you want to look me up on this app, my user name is

iron-bridle

There is a hyphen in between the words.

I hope to see you for a game or twelve.i also tweet when I'm trying to get a game going on

I don't like the idea that some of the games are paid they never were to begin with.

By Igna Triay on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

Does someone know if the voicechat work?

By TJT 2001 on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

I would imagine that it does, though I have not tried it.

Hi! I only just found out about this new Blindfold RS Games app, but, as I am a fan of both RS Games and Blindfold Games, I am definitely going to install this new app. As regards buying games for this app, I'll be happy to do so, especially games I am likely to play: I am used to doing in-app purchases for other Blindfold Games apps, enhancing what the apps can do for me with such purchases and paying the developer back for his hard work, so having in-app purchases in this new Blindfold RS Games app is no problem for me at all. I don't have a bluetooth keyboard or braille display, so I'll have to use onscreen gestures when playing instead of hotkeys, but, knowing Blindfold Games, such gestures should work well, and I look forward to testing the app later.

hi! I'm looking forward to it for long time.
even it still have some bugs to be fixed.
but, it is a good start.
it has inapp purtures but, it is good!
because we have to support those are working hard to develop such as a good game...

By Saqib on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

Hi. This is a great addition and I certainly will be purchasing some games that I would play regularly and one of those is monopoly The version for the Mac never really worked properly so I'm ever so grateful for the iOS version

By Saqib on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

Hi. Has anyone tried this on the iPad as I'm thinking of purchasing an iPad as I can't continuously play on my phone because I will just run the battery down when playing monopoly

By Joseph on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

so I went ahead and purchaced all the bundles for this app, but it still says i have 7 day to play certain games for free. then I have to purchace them. What's up with that?

By Siobhan on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

Hi all. On one hand, I don't mind supporting a developer, however I don't like the idea they went from Mac where there were severe enough bugs, they promised a patch and never delivered, to jumping in with kid friendly software. No disrespect meant to them whatsoever, but it just sems they went from a comfortable environment, Windows, to a platform they weren't really sure how to go about programming things. I'll wait to see if either themac ever gets a decent fix, or the second or third update comes when I might possibly purchase bundles. I do hope though the moeny that's generated does help both companies, especially the sruggling team at RS games. Just my thoughts

By Clare Page on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

Since i posted here earlier, I have given this app a test run, logging in, setting the app to log in automatically when I started playing, and playing a few quick rounds of Blackjack to get the feel of the interface. I had a bit of trouble logging in, until I discovered that double-tapping Return at the bottom right of the onscreen keyboard made it work when it needed to, and that also applied after I'd placed my bets in Blackjack. When I opened Blackjack I didn't see anything about only being able to play this game for seven days: I have already paid for a couple of other games which I play regularly on the rS Games client on my PC, but I haven't tested either of them yet. The RS Games app takes some getting used to when the games are played onscreen on an iPhone, but I'm definitely happy with it, and I'm getting the hang of the gestures for i-device users who don't have external keyboards. I'd like to say thank you to Blindfold Games and RS Games for getting together to produce this app, so that we can play these games either when our computers are out of action or simply when we don't want to switch the computers on and have our i-devices handy.

but you will not see me on the server because i'm banned, but if you would like please do add me.

My username is jdking92. three guesses why I picked that one. lol

By Michael Charlton on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

Also, trying dictation to speed up chatting kills the app's self voicing.

By Clare Page on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

Having played RS Games on the PC for some years, I've noticed that bots are not available for some games on the client, and I would guess the same rules apply to the IOS version. I'm a bit familiar with Apples To Apples after playing it against other people a few times, so I can understand why it's not possible to use a bot for that game.

By Michael Charlton on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

pretty much Everything is handled on the RSGames server side, so this will not do anything that the other client programscan't also do.

Except maybe fit in your pocket. :)

If I go on again, it's Irish_storm if I remember right. As for the person who asked us to add you? Why would we do that if you're banned? I mean, a bit of common sense should go a long way in this one. Lmao

By JeffB on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

This is nice! Can you add a gesture to send PM’s and support to listen to your own music when you play? The games aren’t priced to expensively which is good.

my user name is TotalDarkness

By Joseph on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

so does anyone know why I still get the message saying that I have 7 days left on some games before I have to buy them, even though I've bought them already?

By Siobhan on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

Is there a restore purchases option so you might not get that? Just asking. As for the nonpermanent ban, yeah we'll see, i'll look for that person's name, though I swore I heard a bit of brag in his tone of message.

By Michael on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

I love this new client. The only complaint I would have is that I wish there were some shortcut gestures for menus when playing games that contain multiple menus, like Monopoly. More specifically, there could be gestures to by houses, sell houses, etc.. I think those kind of shortcuts would make the games more fun to play. I understand that there are keyboard commands for those with external keyboards, but I think that adding some more shortcut gestures for the touch screen would be really cool.

By Joseph on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

There is. but I shouldn't have to do that. Once I've made the purchace that message should go away.

By JeffB on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

I am having the same issue after buying games. I emailed Blindfold games so we'll see.

By JeffB on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

Message from Marty regarding purchases not working. That will be fixed soon, prior to your 7 days running out.

Sorry

By Joseph on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

well, that's good to hear. :)

By Kristen on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

I posted this is in the forum too, though I'll add it here as well:

There does not seem to be a finger swipe to start Cards Against Humanity game on the iPhone. It prompts to hit "enter" when ready to start, though obviously can't do that on IOS unless you have a Braille keyboard, I guess, which I don't. I did the 3 finger tap to list the swipes, but it only has "chat" and "leave game".

By Earle on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

I answered the question about this game in the forum but I will answer you here in case you don't see it. Hold down with one finger on the screen and you will see the option to start the game. Anytime you are asked to press a key just use that menu and you will find that you need. Sorry, I was using dictation but I think you will get my point.

By Igna Triay on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

Is there an accessible app like this one for Mac?

By Saqib on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

There isn't a Mac version of this client within the Mac AppStore but you can go to the website and download the app from there

By wikan on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

this app is really nice when you just want to play quick little game on rs, i like the idea not having to power on my computer just to play game, i can just use my iPhone how ever, i think it's little bit buggy as of now, i had quite alot of dificulties on the logg in window. and i'm not sure if it's just me, but i couldn't seem to get braille screen input work here. nor the voice chat feature. hopefully on the upcoming update the developer would be able to fix all the bug. although i know this is just the first update. and i really appreciate all the efford making this app available,. but it would be great if the developer figure out the way to make the chat feature less donting

By David Standen on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

I love this app and I commend Marty and the RS Games team for making this possible. I wonder if we will ever see an app for Quentin C's Playroom for iOS?

By Clare Page on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

I would guess that an IOS app for Quentin C's Playroom might be more complicated to produce, given that the Playroom client for Windows is multi-lingual, which RS Games isn't. We can still hppe for a Playroom client one day, though! In the meantime, it's great to have an RS Games app for our i-devices, even though the current version seems to have a few bugs.

By kool_turk on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

Someone yesterday tweeted that the playroom works using safari and you also get all the sounds, all for free.

By David Standen on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

I am well aware of playing the Playroom Games using Safari on the Mac, as I own a mac. It was just a thought about the creation of such an app for IOS. Out of the 2 gaming sites, I prefer RS Games because of the Mac client. I have only played Battleship on Blindfold RS Games so far but I am very impressed and look forward to trying more of the games. Purchasing the most expensive bundle was not an issue for me either as I feel the more we can support Marty, the better.

By Kristen on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

Thanks for the tip on how to get Cards Against Humanity started! I was so excited to see it but then frustrated I couldn't get the silly thing to work. lol.

Now the only other sticking point is ensuring there are other people around to play with, as you can't add bots on Cards Against Humanity. I've played this IRL by using a system where my husband will type in the white cards I get in a word doc on my laptop and the order in the doc corresponds to the order of the stack of cards. It works fairly well, though it'd be nice to play a fully accessible version of it! It is very fun.

Note, my username is Livdera.

By cjackson on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

Hello: to the developer of blindfold games could you please make all your games playable on the ipad as well. I would especially like to have rs games on the ipad.

By Siobhan on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

Hi @Kristen, sorry if I got your name wrong, no coffee yet. ;) Anyway I can't remember off hand but there's a site wherein you can purchase Braille overlays of gameboards, and i remember cards is one of them. sorry for sending youa half there post.

By Kristen on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

Thanks so much for the tip about the "Accessibility Kits"! Honestly I had no idea! Sighted husband and our friend group play a lot of strategy/cooperative card games together and our crutch solution for Cards Against Humanity worked, though it'd be so much nicer with them all Brailled. (We actually considered doing this ourselves with a Braille labeller but balked at the sheer amount of work this would be - we did manage it with Exploding Kittens, which is much smaller deck, but I see they even have that game on there, too!)

And looks like I may be able to finally join in on some of the games I thought would be too complex to braille and no other way to figure out how to play.

All games should work identically on the iPad. If you can't find it when first looking, make sure you change the search for games to include iPhone games as well.

By KidFriendlySoftware on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

In reply to by wikan

The next version due out in a few days will also resolve the issue of braille displays. I actually changed the infrastructure to handle braille displays better in all blindfold games, so as the new upgrades roll out, you'll get more effective use. Let me know if you find inconsistencies in the braille keyboard once the new version is out.

By KidFriendlySoftware on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

In reply to by David Standen

If someone can give me contact information for the developer, I can talk with him. Both RS Games and I are quite happy about the reception of the app. It took us many months to get it working, and I not built a fairly robust software infrastructure used by all of the blindfold games, this would have taken much longer to build, and much much longer to test.

By Paige on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

Hi, how do you look up peoples usernames on the game

By Igna Triay on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

So, on my Mac, in the CS games client, I accidentally lowered the rate a lot using command left arrow. However, now that I am trying to speed it up by using command right arrow, it doesn't work. Is there a way of speeding up the rate besides using command left and right arrows?

By Siobhan on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 06:54

To be blunt, RS dropped the ball, they fail on the mac, so they are piggybacking on blindfold to get some more user base. If they did what they promised, I'd give them more of a positive review. Marty, this is NOT, about you just abhoring how another company seems to have jumped on your evelopement team, and kicked us in te face, not caring if we were supported or not.
