Hi there. Thanks for posting about this app. I think it has potential to help me with presentations at work.
I wonder though, is there an app for Windows and/or Mac, or perhaps a web portal? While the iPhone will work well for delivering the speech or presentation, I feel it would be an awful lot easier and more efficient to create them on my computer. If I’ve to spend hours creating them on the iPhone, that reduces the benefit for me.
Also, just an FYI, the label on the ‘Next note’ button is spelt wrong, and therefore also pronounced wrong by VoiceOver.
Thanks,
Dave

Hello Dave,

the MacOS version is available too.

You have to enable the option work on cloud in the settings area and the app will use a folder in your iCloud space to share the documents.

Honestly I think the same than you. I prefer to create the script in my mac and I use my Apple Watch or my iPhone in my pocket to make the speech.

Please, use the button to send me more feedback if you find something to improve. The button is in the settings area of the app.

This looks like a genuinely well thought through and useful app. I’m very impressed. I think this may become something I use when speaking. Autocue for blind and low vision people. Highly customisable, great tutorial. What a great app.

Thanks for the quick reply. I will check out the Mac version.
However my work computer is a Windows laptop. I don’t suppose there’s a Windows app or web option is there? If not, I can still use my personal Mac, just not quite as seamlessly ☺️
Thanks again,
Dave

Hello Dave,

"For now, it is only available on MacOS version.

If it helps as a justification to use your Macbook, I am working on a new feature that will allow you to move to the next or previous slide when you are using Keynote or Powerpoint on your Mac by sending the command from your iPhone or your Apple Watch.

Currently, I do not develop for Web or Windows. In fact, I think I haven't turned on my Windows machine since 2019 XD

Anyway, please send feedback about this to record the request, and if many people ask for it, I will have to reinstall Visual Studio. ;-)

Hi. Ok that’s fair ☺️ I will do.
In an ideal world I would have the option to use a Mac at work, but the poor state of Microsoft 365 apps for VoiceOver users means it’s not possible. But yes, perhaps I can use my own MacBook for tasks like this.
Thanks,
Dave

I would probably deem it would be considered off-topic and not ask about it otherwise, but since it has already been requested, let me tell you that an overwhelming majority or both sighted and blind users use Windows PC's, so a Windows version or a cross-platform web version would be great for Android users as well.

Hello Oliver,

You can read the current note during the presentation using VoiceOver because the text of the note is shown on the screen for no blind people and for braille users.

Also, if you tap on the text of the note, the next note will appear. It is very useful for braille readers who don't want to move the focus of the braille display to find the button Next note and go back to read the new note.

Also, for others users you can use left to right scroll with 3 fingers or right to left to move to the next note and the previous one.

I think finally I will have to include a manual or something similar. The tutorial is not enough to learn all about the app

I really like this. I’m going to be doing some presenting next week and should find this really useful.
It would be useful if it was possible to import a Word document with the presentation wording as you intend to speak it but your app then divides up the speech into separate notes for each line break that has been entered into the word document. Hopefully that makes sense

I'm a barrister (that's a trial attorney in america) and a senior law lecturer. Professionally, I've been making speeches and giving presentations pretty much every day for the last 19 years. add in mock trials, debating and political activism, the last of which is currently on pause, and you can make that 25 years. I've my own method of working using a Braille display and am very, verry set in my ways in terms of how I present. it takes an awful lot to make me consider whether there's a better way of doing things, from my own point of view.

And yet, this app has done precisely that. teh fact that I am thinking of downloading it and giving it a shot is testament to how good it looks. i will certainly give it a try in a forthcoming lecture or webinar and see how I get on.

One question: does this app interface with one's Powerpoint slides at all? Or am I going to have to have one Braille display showing my Powerpoint slides while another displays autocues generated by the app? I'd be using IOS to run this app, but will often need to support a lecture with slides for the benefit of visual learners.

Hello Bingo and all,

I am working in version 1.1 for iPhone and Mac and it will include the remote control function to control Power Point or Keynote in a Macbook.

The user have to link the iPhone with the mac (I am working to design an easy and accessible method) and after that the user can go to the previous and the next slide in a mac using a button in the iPhone.

I hope it will be available at the end of this month

It's unfortunate that, reading between the lines, Powerpoint integration will only work as between Mac and iPhone. I use Office in a Windows environment. even if I didn't, my company and my company laptop does. So it seems this might not be a practical choice for lectures. I will, nevertheless, take a look.

Hello,

the version 1.1 is now available in the AppStore and the MacAppStore.

This version includes some bug fixes, a help section and the remote control functionality between the Mac and the iPhone

This app sounds excellent. I'm a pastor and present lectures 200+ days a year. I've been searching for something like this for sometime.

However, since I am still on MacOS 13 Ventura, I am not able to install.

I can't upgrade to Sonoma due to horrible VoiceOver support. It's far worst than Ventura. So I am stuck.

Is it possible to allow for installation on older MacOS versions?

I'm sure many would be truly grateful.

Thanks for your time, effort and consideration.

Blessings...

Hello 3AM,

Sorry, I just made a test trying to compile the application for MacOS 13.0 and there are some unsupported functions that are only available for MacOS14.0.

I have to study the problem to add the support with MacOS 13.0 but I don't know if it will be available in the next update because now I am working in the version for Apple Vision Pro and to fix some minor bug fixes

I can see MacOS 13.0 compatibility is possible but I have to check the application to avoid any visual component is broken for that version. To do that I need a shared eye because I am blind and my wife is in a trip. When she comes back I will have more information to study the problem

I just wanted to congratulate the Dev for creating a well-thought-out app for the blind community. While I have no particular use for this in my daily life, professionally or otherwise, I will say I very much wish I had this or something like it back in college.

I've had to give a few presentations, and it is considerably more challenging with our technological limitations.

So once more, great job! I look forward to seeing more from you in the future. 😁👍

Hello Brian,

thanks for your words. Honestly I developed this app because I have mor eproblems to manage the new speeches because they are more complicated for me.
I am blind too but this is not my first app in the appStore.

You can know more in my web site: https://tyflosaccessiblesoftware.com

Thank you so much for your prompt response. I'm even more grateful you explored the immediate possibilities. I've been waiting years for something like this. I can certainly wait until you sort out the Ventura compatibility.

I really appreciate your dedication and commitment to truly useful accessible apps.

Keep it up my friend!

Hi there. This app is great. Thanks so much. It is just what i'm after. Just a bit confused about the remote functionality. Is this purely to control the mac version of speaker assistant or is it to control MS powerpoint or something like that?

By Jonathan ChacĂłn on Thursday, February 15, 2024 - 20:32

Hello Matt,

The remote control functionality is only to move between slides in PowerPoint or Keynote.

You have to use Speakers assistant in your Mac and in your iPhone at the same time using the same WIFI network. When the connection is stablished open the PowerPoint or the Keynote in your mac and move the slides using a button in your iPhone. The button is included in the interface of the player of Speakers assistant

I can definitely see how this could be useful, except that I don't have the time to type notes into this app after composing my presentation and developing speaking notes. The ability to import text all at once, and having it put into notes would be critical for me.

This is a great idea, so I hope you find the way for users to import text. Best of luck.

By Jonathan ChacĂłn on Thursday, February 15, 2024 - 20:32

Hello Louise,

I will include import/export functionalities in version 1.3.
Also, this version will be compatible with MacOS 13.0

I think I can not include any more feature in version 1.3

I hope these features will be enough for you

Regards

By Louise on Thursday, February 15, 2024 - 20:32

Thanks for listening. I do think that the ability to import text into notes will make this an App I use almost daily. I suggest you pick one character, and when that is entered into a document, the app knows to make a new note. That way, I could type up all my notes, import the document from a file, and have the 20 or so notes I might need.

Best of luck, this is a really exciting project.

Hello friends,

The 1.3 version is now available for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac and Apple Vision Pro.

There are some new features:

* Now the app supports MacOs 13.0 and higher
* You can export and import your presentations
* You can import your notes from a txt file (using UTF-8) You only have to include an empty line between two notes to add a divider.

Thanks and regards

By Louise on Thursday, February 22, 2024 - 20:32

This is so exciting. I'm going to go try it right now.
Thanks for listening to suggestions.
