I am sure this is totally related to the YouTube application on IOS but wanted to confirm from fellow members of applevis before I raise the flag with Google accessibility, which as for now according to me are sleeping over many accessibility bugs with their applications.
On the YouTube app. when I go to add a comment, I usually dictate my comment and dictation as we know it messes up what I have said. So I need to make edits. I change the rotar to navigate using words OR characters depending on the situation but when editing I find that the focus of the cursor to type is not in the position I expected it to be in. Say the sentence was: The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
Now I want to be before the word lazy, so use word navigation to get to the word, character navigation to position myself befor the word lazy and then start typing; but VO types over something else or elsewhere in the sentence, mostly after the last word in the sentence.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Google is very lazy when it comes to this stuff, they've broken the buttons under each video on the website, I should actually get onto them about that with BeMyEyes.

Thank you for your reply, I honestly liked the previous way you could interact with comments i.e. swipe up/ down to like, dislike, reply or expand comment thread. I really don't understand the need for the change in the buttons now provided, it takes forever to read through the comments on the application. Just to get to the next comment you need to swipe through 3 buttons, what a time waster

Oh I completely agree.
I think they want the app to look the same on IOS as it does on android, it's annoying I know.
I doubt anything will be done though so i'd advise reading the comments on the website.
It's frustrating but if we want to use youtube; we have to put up with their crappy design.
I phoned google support through BeMyEyes and mentioned how their buttons were labled oddly, they're going to look into it, it does frustrate me that these accessibility experts don't have a windows machine a mac machine and a google chrombook, but according to the person; they do have an NVDA expert who they will be contacting or something like that, it's a bit confusing.
The expert said that it's probably a bug with NVDA, I told him it wasn't instead it was that google had labeled the buttons oddly.
It's being looked into now but I really don't like how these experts basically know nothing when it comes to the basics of HTML and how screen readers work.
I expect experts to ya no, be experts.

I am a NVDA expert but if the website or application is not an NVDA expert there is not much I can do. Some idiots are going far beyond to claim their applications to be called accessible by putting a voice search button. What if I cannot see and can't talk? Did that ever cross their so called intelligent non-disabled brains? Oops, they would ask me to use Braille then, if they know something like that exists

I am not pro using 3rd party applications, the Youtube application works fine on my device, it's just a few things here and there I wish they would improve

Do keep in mind though, that you are complaining about service and/or functionality, that can easily be fixed by using a third-party application and/or service. However I will respect your wish to use only "official" applications.
My suggestion was just that, a suggestion.

Adding and editing Youtube comments
I have experienced the same weird voiceover behavior when trying to edit a comment on Youtube. If I try to go backward or forward through the text field, the insertion point doesn't follow as it should. I have found that if I type a space or another character, then I can use the rotor to navigate by word or character again as usual. That's not really a solution but it seems to help get the focus back to the right place again. I also agree that navigating through comments has gotten very tedious lately, and it was much easier before. I plan to contact Google on these issues.

Thank you for the link to send feedback to Google. I tried multiple times but I wasn't able to send my feedback using the form. it kept saying there was an error, and I couldn't figure out what the problem was. I ended up contacting Youtube support through the Youtube app. I sent them my request yesterday and haven't heard back yet. I'll update this thread if I hear anything.
