Introducing Adventure To Fate Lost Island

By Adventure To F…, 10 February, 2024

Forum
iOS and iPadOS Gaming

Hi, I am the developer of the Adventure To Fate series. I appreciate all the support I get on this site and forums.

I had posted that I have a new game in development over on audiogames.net and I wanted to post over here as well. It seems that a lot of the same users cross-post on both forms but for those that do not, I wanted to post here too.

The game has been in development for about 6 months now (using the game engine I built over the last 10 years) and is approaching release on March 1st. I have worked with a group of about 10-15 VoiceOver testers (Mostly from the audiogames forum) to make this game as accessible as possible. This game should be head and shoulders above the previous. Not just accessible but built and functioning with accessibility as the main focus. It still isn't perfect but should always be getting better.

Anyways the game is now open for pre-orders on the App Store here.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/adventure-to-fate-lost-island/id6450016324

I have a huge list of new features and leading up to the release I will post those and other previews as well as answer any questions people may have.

Also if you want insider info or direct contact about the game you can join the discord here:

https://discord.com/invite/HX2N9yZPYy

Note this is a premium paid game with no ads or IAP or anything like that. Everything is fully unlocked from the start. I understand not everyone has money to spend on ios games so if you need some assistance getting the game let me know after release and I will work with anyone from this forum to get them a copy.

Thanks for your time and support!

Character Creation

!! New classes with skill tree (Elementalist, Warrior, Rogue, Hunter, Priestess, Druid)

!! Old classes without skill tree (Savage, Illusionist, Guardian)

Note: So you can play characters with a skill tree or straightforward of gaining spells. I did this for the people who prefer the ease of just having skills assigned like how the old games work.

Hidden Classes

Races added back (8 new and old races)

Gameplay / Overworld

!! Streamlined Create Your Own Item (you can make an item with your own name, stats, picture. After making the item it’s a part of the game and you can even find them when you play on other characters).

!! Skill trees (Choose your skills and build your character as you progress)

Extra inventory slots. (Added 6 slots on main inventory and 5 in account vault)

Containers - items that can hold other items. For example, a bandit may drop a bandits pack that holds a healing potion and dagger).

Runes - These are one-use permeant stat enhancers.

!! Achievements- About 40 achievements

More in-depth story - more attention to the story compared to past games and much more npc dialog as the supplemental story

More in-depth over-world - more interactable options

World items now can change when searched. Rather than just disappearing after searching a barrel it might instead now just have a picture with the top off.

More npc dialog. NPCs can give items.

Ability to have up to 4 moving npcs on floor (up from 2)

Npcs can move and leave the floor now

Music

New music and SFX

Creation by indie artists in the community. (shout out to Aaron Cloutier)

Adjusted music and the ability for the game to save previous music settings between sessions. Requested by VoiceOver users.

Interface

!! New interface - more island / fantasy-themed interface.

Improved action log

Improved directional pad with indicators for points of interest and searching. Navigation Indicator icon for easier navigation.

Improved and organized character stat page.

For those that have played the previous games here are a few of the additions/improvements from the previous ones.

Battle System

!! Addition of elemental damage and resistance system.

Added in elemental damage to all formulas. (Earth water fire shadow resist and power)

Lots of new skills based on elemental system

Action and lookover system - the ability to look over everything while battling.

Look over Your location and its description

Look over Npcs pets skills player

Npcs lookovers run on a system where the more you kill the more info you gain on them.

Level 1 - look over just npc name and max hp.

Level 2 - look over the main stats and some details.

Level 3 - look over All stats and sub-stats. Current hp/sp etc.

Stat potions no longer cost SP to use (encouraging people to use them more)

Improved combat log. (Resets after each round easier to track less buggy)

Accessibility improvements.

!! The navigation pad now speaks hints to surrounding rooms

!! Rooms/squares with npcs or interactable items now give that hint when touching room.

Lots and lots of fixes hiding no-label buttons/confusing labels.

Streamlined interface to only give info you need.

Adjusted music and the ability for the game to save previous music settings between sessions. Requested by VoiceOver users.

"
!! Streamlined Create Your Own Item (you can make an item with your own name, stats, picture. After making the item it’s a part of the game and you can even find them when you play on other characters)."

I am intrigued. 😃

By Adventure To F… on Sunday, February 11, 2024 - 17:31

Create Your Own Item 0r known in this game as Forging Idols are a lot of fun. Once you have played a few characters and created a few items you'll notice some vendors/shops carrying your items. If you make strong items they help your characters on the next play through.

By Jonathan Candler on Sunday, February 11, 2024 - 17:31

Regarding creating islands, are they randomly generated with whatever stats you put in or can you pick your own layout? This sounds a ton of fun. Just wondering. Already digging these changelogs.

By Adventure To F… on Sunday, February 11, 2024 - 17:31

Hey Jonathan, sorry about the confusion but there is no island or level creation (maybe in the future)

As for the creation of items. You get to choose your Item Name / Picture. Then you can select up to 4 different stats. Then when you create the item there is a slight chance for it to come out as epic or legendary where it has boosted stats.

It is then placed in your inventory and has a chance to show up in shops or chests around the island.

By Jonathan Candler on Sunday, February 11, 2024 - 17:31

Ah got ya thanks. Really looking forward to this.

By Adventure To F… on Sunday, February 18, 2024 - 17:31

About 7 days until Launch so I figured I would do some class previews!

Warriors

Warriors are your standard melee class with a slight twist. Their key ability is a passive ability that causes your 3rd consecutive attack to hit for 1.5x damage. Any miss, using a buffing/debuffing skill, or using a potion interrupts this bonus so choose your actions wisely. You can strategically use this in many ways. The first is by hitting a low agi enemy for the first 2 attacks then using your bonus damage attack on a harder enemy. You can also choose to use 1 stam attacks to gain the bonus and then with your 3rd attack use a 2 or 3 stam attack to get more out of your bonus damage.

Warriors wield heavy weapons and wear heavy armor in battle.

Starting Skills:

Fury Smash (Passive) - A passive skill that causes your third consecutive attack in a row to hit for 1.5x damage.

Pure Strike - A physical attack with a 5 percent stun chance and 25 percent bonus damage for each element.

Skill Tree Skills:

Berserkers Stance Warrior - Tier 1 A buffing skill that raises Strength Agility and Fire Power by 4 and lowers Wisdom by 2 and AC by 10. Costs 10 SP per round.
Defenders Stance Warrior - Tier 1 A buffing skill that raises HP by 50 Block by 4 Wis by 4 Water Resist by 4 and lowers Str by 2. Costs 10 SP per round.
Knights Stance Warrior - Tier 1 A buffing skill that raises Str Agi Wis Block and Shadow Resist and Earth Power by 2. Costs 10 SP per round.
Fiery Strike Warrior - Tier 2 A very powerful physical damage hit with 50 percent extra Fire Damage.
Bloody Strike Warrior - Tier 2 A powerful physical damage hit with 15 percent HP Leech and 25 percent extra Shadow Damage.
Staggering Strike Warrior - Tier 2 A powerful physical damage hit with 30 percent Stun Chance and 25 percent extra Earth Damage.

Ever Enduring Warrior - (passive) Tier 3 A passive skill that gives 100 Hit Points and 5 Percent Block Chance.
Mighty Recovery Warrior - Tier 4 A passive skill that raises HP Regain by 30 per round permanently.
Fearful Shout Warrior - Tier 4 A debuffing spell that lowers enemy stamina by 1 (additional -1 enemy Agility loss per 4 Strength).
Energy Burst Warrior - Tier 4 A buffing skill that grants 1 extra Stamina. Costs 10 SP and 10 HP per round.
Warwind Warrior - Tier 5 An attack that hits all enemies and 25 percent extra Shadow Damage.
Stunning Slam Warrior - Tier 5 A physical attack that has a 50 percent chance to Stun for 2 Rounds and 25 percent extra Earth Damage.
Furious Force Warrior - Tier 5 A very very strong physical attack with 50 percent extra Fire Damage.

By ming on Sunday, February 18, 2024 - 17:31

well, my question is:
why it is just 8-bit sound effects and music.?
I don't mind the game is1 GB or more memorry...
as I really like playing games?

By Adventure To F… on Sunday, February 18, 2024 - 17:31

Actually, a lot of the music has been upgraded! I worked with another indie artist to create some more interesting music. It still has a little bit of the 8bit feel but is no much more immersive here is a video about the process of creating the battle music in the volcano zone.

https://www.patreon.com/posts/songwriter-for-8-98928384?utm_medium=clipboard_copy&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=postshare_creator&utm_content=join_link

I am not sure how accessible this is so let me know.

As for the sound effects they are still a little 8 / 16 bit.

The reasoning the game is themed like this is because the art is also 8 / 16 bit art. As a solo dev I don't have the resources to program everything and create great art and create great music and sound effects. This style is the easiest to work with while still providing an in-depth RPG game.

By Zoe Victoria on Sunday, February 25, 2024 - 17:31

This is awesome and all, but are you ever going to release the soundtracks for your games? Like on YouTube, Spotify? Because they're all fire! I love the Graveyard overworld and battle themes seen in Future Arena and one other game I can't quite think of right now.

By Adventure To F… on Sunday, February 25, 2024 - 17:31

I appreciate you liked the music. While I didn’t make much of it I did listen to hundreds of songs to put together a collection I thought would fit.

Most of the music in these games is purchased from other creators so I don’t think I have the permission to release an official soundtrack. However I may be able to setup something on my website that direct links to the artists song players.

By ming on Sunday, February 25, 2024 - 17:31

try spotify for putting soundtrack on ...

By Missy Hoppe on Sunday, February 25, 2024 - 17:31

To me, this is actually really neat. The sounds make me think of the video games I played when I was growing up. Pacman, Frogger, etc. Modern sound effects and music are cool and all, but it's fun to visit the past too, at least for me. I haven't tried to play any of the adventure to fate games in a very, very long time, but I think I will need to give them another try at some point if I can ever tare myself away from Dawncaster. LOL!

The only thing is, and I think this was an issue with the other games too, it would be nice if the inventory buttons were perhaps at the to, and the sections were laid out in headings.

So far I have to do a lot of swiping to get to actions. Also, it would be really nice if you could use your items straight from the you win screen so you don't have to poke around in the inventory screen.

Oh and a tip, for me at least; using the navigation arrows is a lot easier.

I understand if the answer is no but would it be possible to add a you've visited here before option or something like that? My memory honestly isn't the best and it can get a bit tiring going over the same spaces for the 5th time.

By Adventure To F… on Sunday, February 25, 2024 - 17:31

Thanks for the suggestions brad. I will be working through suggestions this weekend and hopefully pushing through an update this weekend or early next week. I think I can label the sections as titles and then use the rotary to allow fast movement between them. I will work on getting this added.

As for the visited this location I will try to find a way of doing that without adding too much dialog when the room is reading. It was a fine balance when creating that readout but I will see what I can do.

Thanks for the support and the review!

Thanks for the interest and support!

It has some voiceover fixes but I'm a bit confused.

it mentions that it will tell you when you've visited a room before but it doesn't seam to be doing that.

I don't have hints on, should I?

By Brad on Sunday, March 3, 2024 - 17:31

It works now, i'm still bad at exploring but that's a me thing and not the game.

By Derrick on Sunday, March 3, 2024 - 17:31

The instructions suggest I can only move one square at a time but I find that this is not the case. I’ve tried to go to squares right next to each other but it says you can’t go that way. No walls are blocking. I also can not get to the volt or the next floor consistently. Any help would be great.

By Brad on Sunday, March 3, 2024 - 17:31

SO you can't go up, it's a bit of a strange game and I'm bad at navigation.

I don't think my memory is good enough for it but I'll see how long I keep it for.

By Adventure To F… on Sunday, March 3, 2024 - 17:31

Thanks for the support folks and sorry you are having trouble with navigation.

Hopefully this will help a bit

All the floors are setup as a 5x5 grid. The first room in the top left corner is 0 then 1 then 2 then 3 then the top left corner is 4. The bottom left corner is 24.

Your character moves around this grid. The rooms may be walls so not all rooms can be accessed.

You can only move 1 square at a time however it has to be the square next to you. If you go through the rooms in order you will find a button indicator of where your character is on the map (character location). Again you can only move to a room next to you so if you are using the map to move you need to find your character first.

Most voiceover users find that using the directional pad is easier. which is lower and to the right. tapping the direction tells you what is that direction before you move. For example selecting the east or right arrow says what’s in the room to the right. Double tapping that same arrow moves you to the right.

Also yes please use voiceover hints quite a bit of info is included in the hints.

I hope this helps.

I also have a discord setup with voiceover players and experts in there that should be able to help with any questions about the game and how to play.

I found a captain’s log, how do I examine it?

By Jonathan Candler on Sunday, March 3, 2024 - 17:31

Either by going into your inventory or you can look at it when you pick them up.

By Adventure To F… on Sunday, March 3, 2024 - 17:31

Yes you can tap an item when it drops to read it or you can go to your inventory after it’s in there and tap it to read it from there.

You can also use equip unequip and destroy from the inventory.

To get there tap menu and then swipe right in the menu bar.

By Adventure To F… on Sunday, March 3, 2024 - 17:31

Hey folks I just wanted to let you know the update is ready for adventure to fate. This includes adding headers to the games screens to make for quicker/easier navigating of menus and gameplay.

Thanks for the suggestions and helping make this game great!

By Brad on Sunday, March 3, 2024 - 17:31

I did end up requesting and geting a refund, my memory isn't good enough for this game, but I'm so happy others get to enjoy it with easier heading navigation.

By matt on Sunday, March 3, 2024 - 17:31

Still figuring a lot out as I go. But this is fantastic. Thanks for all the accessibility efforts. Have been looking for something like this for ages!

By Adventure To F… on Sunday, March 3, 2024 - 17:31

Thanks for the support Matt hopefully this game does well enough I can continue down this accessible development path!

If you have any questions just let me know. If you need 1 on 1 assistance I’ve setup a discord where I can respond quicker or one of the other voiceover users can help too.

General Improvements
-Changed wording on attacking enemies with taunt first.
You must attack the enemy who is Taunting you first. (they have a shield over their head)

-Slightly upped text size on larger devices for main stats, action log and combat log.
-Updated Achievements code.

Voiceover Updates 1.05

-Rewrite of the movement and directional pad system for VoiceOver users! Should be a lot more accurate and helpful.

-You now get a message when moving from floor to floor “You moved to the new floor X”

-When moving to a new floor and then moving back to the previous it no longer says the wrong direction.

-VoiceOver directional pad preview hints are updated for walls, ocean, and elevated platforms like the stone walkway to be more descriptive and let you know you cannot go that way or you need to reach it from a different floor.

-When trying to move into a wall, ocean, locked door, open to pass, or elevated platforms like the stone walkway it no longer sets your direction pad location as inside that wall or ocean.

-Lookopen rooms that have objects in them and need searched to activate now read out as searchable

-Updated object rooms to read as Object: <name>. Details <info> (rather than object says)

-The directional pad hint now mentions if a room is elevated and out of your reach

-The directional pad hint now mentions if a room in that direction has a locked door.

-Direction pad hints now say if the next room leads to a different floor and what floor that is.

-you walked has been replaced with you moved (to account for portals etc)

-You moved to a new floor now properly says if it’s been visited or not. (you moved North! To an unexplored new Floor 8)

-Search button Hint for searching a room that has a warp to a different floor now reads as: Searching this room will move you to floor 4! Your current location is floor 3 room 10.

-When trying to move out of the bounds of the map it now tells you that you are at the northern, southern, eastern, or western bounds.

By T-Madd on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 - 17:31

I just started playing and Im a little stuck on where to go next. Im on floor 6 in room 14. I just need a little help on where to go.

By Adventure To F… on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 - 17:31

Youll actually want to head back north and west until room 2 floor 6.

From there you'll go south until room 22 then east until room 24. That is where you will search to go down.

Thanks for reaching out and thanks for supporting the game!

Here is the discord channel as well. There are lots of other voiceover users that should be able to help too!

Ok the new Update 1.10 has been submitted to Apple and is waiting on review. Here is a bit about the update.

New Creature Bestiary + More!

The Bestiary is a list and reference guide to all the creatures on the Lost Island. This list allows you to track your progress, research, and strategize! Initially, The Bestiary shows limited information about each creature but as you kill more of the creatures more information is unlocked! Once you have enough kills you can view all the creature's stats, skills, and even loot!

here is a bit more about how it will work and how you can make progress to show your bestiary info.

As you kill the monsters more you "learn" more about them and are given more info about them. Your kills are based on your account (all of your characters combined).

Below is a list of how the info unlocks.

1 Kill
+ Shows up on bestiary list as white

+ Shows general description

2 Kills

+ Basic Stats
+ All Skills
+ 1 Item Drop

3 Kills
+ 2 Item Drops

5 Kills
+ Elemental Stats
+ All Drops

10 Kills
+ Shows up on bestiary list as Gold
+ All Stats
+ Chances of drops
+ Chances of spell casts

As you can tell there is a lot to be gained from knowing more about the monster. You can tell their stats, what skills they will use against you and even what they drop and at what rate.

Other New Additions and Fixes
-Added unlock progress amounts to the character creator. (For example, it previously said Undiscovered Race: Kill 50 Molten Goo. Now it says Undiscovered Race: Kill 11/50 Molten Goo (11 being how many you have currently killed)).
-Revamped VoiceOver features on the character page.
-Fixed various bugs and Voiceover issues.

Thanks again for spreading the word and supporting this game! A few more updates to come and then I will shift focus to remastering previous games using this updated game engine.

Another week another update haha. Here is a preview for version 1.11 which I will be testing over the weekend and hopefully submitting early next week.

Anyway, this update was a bit more focused on QoL changes for VO users. Here are the notes.

Update 1.11 Summary

Sound / Music Updates

-Added in volume sliders for music and sound effects on the character page. (MUCH Requested by VO users)
-Revamped how sound effects work throughout the game (no more missing or extra loud sounds).
-Audio quality improved on all sound effects at minimal impact to file size.
-20+ New sound effects (new morphing sounds!)

Damage Formula Update

-Adjusted how damage for 2 stamina and higher skills/spells works. (Overall more damage for these)
-Elemental damage for 2, 3 and 4 stamina skills/spells buffed
-2 Stamina skills now get 1.5x elemental damage
-3 Stamina skills now get 2x elemental damage
-4 Stamina skills now get 2.5x elemental damage

Forge Updates

-Added SP leech stat to item forges
-When opening the weapon forge the item type now defaults to what your class uses.

QoL adjustments and Bug Fixes

-Potions now auto sort in inventory and vault by type (buffing potions first), then highest Healing HP, then highest Healing SP
This should mean buffing potions are at the top. Then the strongest healing HP potions, then the strongest healing SP potions.
-When attacking with a morphed druid it will now show a claw as the skill pic for the whole battle.
-Spirit Wolf (Hunter Pet Summon) now only takes 1 stamina to use but 50hp/50sp.
-Silent Focus now gives 7 critical chance (+2) and 10 water damage (wasn’t adding correctly previously)
-Bow users (Hunter, Archer) regular attack fx image now is a small circle (like an arrow hitting) rather than the default slash.
-Standardized to Skill Points to Spell Points in all of the game (this is because skill points are used to refer to points you can use to get skills in the skill tree).
-Standardized Elemental Power to Elemental Damage for easier understanding (earth power is earth damage)
-Fixed Tomb Raider not showing in the bestiary

They will likely be introduced 1 at a time as for how the classes play I am still not sure.

Paladin could be a classic class that I pulled from a previous game with slight changes (much like a savage, guardian, and Illusionist). This would mean it comes a bit sooner (maybe before the end of the month)

Or I might make it a whole new type of class that plays more like a roguelike and you get to choose from 3 options of skills each level up but these are random from a pool of say 5-10 choices. This option would be a bit longer since it involves coding a new system.

Sorry there is no real timeline but hopefully this gives you some insight.

This week's updates!!!!

Update 1.12 Notes

Gesture Controls (unfortunately does not work with voiceover since voiceover already uses swipe gesture)
-Swipe controls for movement between rooms added to the Main Screen
-Double tap to search on the Action Log or Movement background section
-Updated Help pages to include these new optional movements.

Battle View Interface
-Enlarged name labels in battle for easier reading

-The name of who is attacking now blinks as an indicator of whose turn it is during the battle.
-When your HP or SP goes under 20% it now blinks as a warning.

Music / SFX

-Added battle start sound effect

s
-Added battle won sound effects
-Added battle rewards music
-Adjusted all SFX and music levels to be balanced with each other.

-Fixed missing sound on character creator that may have caused crash (when using secret codes to unlock classes)
-Fixed bug where if music is off when the game loads then the slider on the character menu is at the top instead of the bottom
-Fixed a bug where music / sfx buttons were not turning off if you dragged the slider too far.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR SUPPORTING THIS GAME AND MAKING IT A SUCCESS!
If you have a moment please rate/review the game! Rating the game helps soo MUCH!

Just wanted to check in since this update has been a bit longer process than the previous updates.

I am working on the witch / paladin classes. I don’t want to give too much away until they are a bit further in development but these will be a new type of class. They will be mystic classes, unique from the normal tree classes and even the classic classes.

They will be closer to a rogue-like class. Each level up you will have 3 choices from a pool of stats, pool of skills or pool of hp/sp stats. You’ll be building the class with decisions quite a bit more than the other class types.

I may even implement a 3 to 1 death limit. The reasoning for this is that it would be very possible to build a character that cannot win haha. This will definitely be hard mode and may require unlocking or I may just say go for it with a warning.

Anyways I just wanted to give an update on the new classes. Once I land on how everything will work I’ll update again.

The new Witch (rogue-like) class has started testing and is going pretty well. Hopefully if all goes well the update will officially be out in about a week or two.

This was a pretty big undertaking and much more than just a new class but rather a whole new system of how the class plays so I want to make sure everything is as stable and bug free as possible before releasing to the public.

Feel free to ask any questions about the new class and I will try to fill you in. Thanks as always for the support!

I don't know if it would be possible since I can't afford the game right now, but couldn't the 3 finger swipe Voiceover gestures be used for the room movements? I imagine that the magic tap (two finger double tap) is already used for some stuff.
