Strange behavior when moving around in a document without quicknav

Hello.
I am actively a writer but have a problem. VoiceOver reads in a very odd way when moving through a document in any text editor, sometimes only reading a half line or somehow cuts things off. So often I have to press down arrow and then up and maybe down again to get through text. Any solution?

It is a bit buggy, I think. Part of the problem, I think, is that when you press down arrow, it scrolls straight down from wherever you are. In other words, line length matters. What I've found helps is to use ctrl-a to get to the beginning of the line before hitting down or up arrow.

Yes, I agree. The fact that only partial lines are oftenspoken when navigating up/down using the arrow keys is very strange and can make it difficult to read a document line by line without using quick nav mode. Definitely different behavior than any other screen reader I've ever used on a windows PC. This behavior in iOS using VoiceOver has always been the case.

On the other hand, as the previous reply indicates, this can often be rectified by navigating to the beginning of a line before navigating up/down and is probably due to the fact that the VoiceOver focus is starting from the middle of a line. Maybe sometimes that is a benefit and Apple developers consider this a "feature" rather than a "bug". I don't know and they are not likely to tell us.

Did not know about that command. While we are discussing this, is there a way to make VO read the document, either the entire or from where I am??
