Audible Description

Hello, My name is Blair and I wish to float an idea which has the potential to substantially improve blind peoples accessibility to a wide range of mainstream entertainment resources throughout the world. What is required is an iphone app which provides access to a library of audible descriptions for movies and television programmes. Through this a blind person will be able to listen to audible descriptions through a single earphone, whilst not affecting others in the same lounge or theatre. It is with delight that I have observed the increase in availability of audible descriptions on dvd's and on television broadcasts, and also note the gradual but slow increase of cinemas with these facilities and see the next progression for blind individuals to have their own access to these when the need demands. I live in a home with my wife and three children and I am the only one in the household with a visual impairment. Family members accept ad reluctantly, and very occasionally! Ad through my own device would provide the ultimate solution, the ability to enjoy a better entertainment experience, alongside my family, and not enforcing my accessibility needs onto them. Please respond with any feedback and any suggested avenues for progress. Kind regards, Blair

Hi, There is a company that is doing just that called Solo-Dx. You can download descriptive tracks from them on iTunes or Amazon and the track helps you sync it up with the content you're viewing. So you play this mp3 track on your iPhone or iPod etc. More info can be found at http://www.solo-dx.com/
