I'm not sure if anyone has posted on this, but I want to congratulate Apple on 10 years of commitment to accessibility, especially in the iOS family. I know that for some of us, when the iPhone was first released there was a good deal of hand wringing and feeling left behind. When Voiceover was first introduced in 2009, a lot of people were not sure it would work. I avoided the iPhone until 2015 when I got my hands on it. But before then, nI got help from a good friend who showed me what the iPhone was capable of, and I learned from a blind tech expert about how to make use of the iOS family when I borrowed an iPod touch. When my iPhone was set up, my friend and I met so I could learn how to use it. Ever since then, I haven't turned back.

Anyway, congratulations to Apple on 10 years of commitment to accessibility. Thanks.

I got my first iPhone from the beginning of voiceover and still using them. Now my new iPhone is xx. Never had to take any class to learn how to use it. Just by listening to the many podcast from iPhone uses and podcast from applevis I learn. Although the voiceover is not perfect, is much better than others. I will continue to use iPhone in the future.

I've posted about this elsewhere too. My iPhone journey officially began on March 31 of last year, when my father and I went to an AT&T store in the area and purchased an iPhone Seven. Prior to that I was curious about iPhones, but my parents and I didn't think they'd be right for me because of my low muscle tone. We consulted with some experts though including my brother, and on March 31 I actually got one. I remember attempting to call my mom and a sister on our way back from the store, and somehow it just worked out in our favor. At the time I of course didn't know much, but that all changed when I went to my first tutoring session at Second Sense here in Chi-Town. My mom and I had gone down there prior to me getting the phone, and we talked with their now former technology team lead who was very patient and encouraging. He scheduled me for 2 consecutive sessions with one of their tutors. I hope to go back and meet with this tutor, but my social life as of late has been rather active. But the tutor was very patient with me. He is also a VoiceOver user, so that is a plus. He got me up and running with my iPhone, and I've since been on AppleVis and a couple mailing lists. My sincere thank you goes out to Apple for doing such a wonderful job. I'm still learning, but my iPhone 7 has become a thing without which I honestly don't know what I'd do. I've since gotten several 3rd-party apps on there. Thanks to AppleVis for the wonderful iOS app directory. Of course I cannot forget my Mac. I've had it since the end of 2013, and am on it constantly nowadays. The store rep who assisted me and my father was also very good. So that's my iPhone story, and I'm sticking to it!

Hi Tina and everyone,
many thanks for this post. I would like to thanks Apple as well. I only decided to use an Iphone last year, in 2018 and now, I feel that I lost 9 years of my life. Iphone firstly, and Mac afterwards, changed my life, so I will continue to use them So, thanks you, Apple, to have opened a window in our world and in our mind.
The only regret is that I think that Voice Oer on the Mac is not enough known as it could be, I mean, I am sure taht Voice Over and Mac have a productivity mauch more high tha people think and know, it would be interesting to create more potcast about it.
Anyway, many thanks for these 10 years, happy birthday, and I wish a lot of years more.
