Hi, I am listening and looking at the getting started with your apple watch but I can't find how to turn on and off my watch. I also can't find how to check your battery. I have the 4 series and the latest update. Thanks

First to turn off your watch, press the side button for 3 seconds and a menu will popup.
Then to check your battery level, from the watch face bring up the control center by swiping up 3 fingers from the bottom of the face until it appears, and there you will fine the level of your watch; by the way another option for knowing the battery level at ease, would be to add the battery complication to any of your preferred faces.

Hi, how many buttons are on the watch? I see the crown, and another one which is a lot smaller. But, when I pressed that last night, an alarm went off. I thought I called 911. So, I called them and told them there was no emergency. So, in the Podcasts, I hear something about a friends button? A power button?

The side button, in the past, was referred to as the friends button. If you press it five times quickly, emergency SOS will activate, which is what connected you to 911. If you hold it down, however, the, "Power off," button should appear.

All three of these buttons are the same button, which is the rectangular button on the watch. there are only two buttons in total. This button is now most commonly referred to as the side button. When the watch was first introduced, the side button was used to access your specific friends info that you chose. Now the side button accesses the dock area of the watch, where you can insert your most frequently used apps of your choice. I think this is a much more effective use for the side button than the friends option that we used to have. This button does power down the watch and is how I think of it. Apple has referred to this button as the side button, as well.

To power down the watch, simply press and hold the side button for approximately three seconds. A popup menu will appear that gives the options to call your emergency services, access the medical ID info, and to power down the watch. It should be noted that, when powering up the watch, it takes longer than you would expect so be patient.

With all of your help, I turned off and on the watch. Again thank you all. Now I have to figure out how to customize and do all of my faces and complications.

Suggest that you listen to the podcasts by Dave title apple watch 101. It is very easy to change faces within the watch or iPhone. Also if you make changes to notification will help save battery. I like my watch 3.
