Hello all. I have a Rode NT1 - a microphone with an XLR cable which I would like to connect to my Ipad or Iphone. I'd like to use the IOS device as an audio interface with Ferrite or Hokusai, but I haven't found a definitive way of doing this. I do have a Zoom H4, though I'm not sure how reliable it is these days. Any experienced users of XLR microphones have any suggestions?

I'm not sure how well this would work, but you could always try buying a USB to XLR adapter and the Apple Lightning to USB Camera adapter. Plug your XLR cable into the microphone and the XLR to USB adapter. Now, connect the USB end of the XLR adapter to the USB lightning adapter and connect the Lightning adapter to your device. Depending on how much power the microphone uses, you may need to power the Lightning to USB adapter from the wall.

IK Multimedia sells a variety of devices designed to facilitate recording and production on iDevices. The iRig Pre is an XLR pre-amp designed to connect to your iPhone. I don't know if they've released a version with a lightning connector, or if the 3/4" version would work with the lightning-to-headphone adapter (don't know why it wouldn't) but a quick search on Google or Amazon should turn up whatever you need.

Do a google search for: xlr to lightening preamp. Sweet water is a reputable place that lists 42 different options for interfaces depending on your price range and how many inputs you would need for your phone. Like others say you could also do an amazon search for these products and I am sure they have plenty that would suit your purpose and meet your price range for how much you want to spend.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did do a search before posting here. I found a lot of different answers, though as I do recording on IOS and PC I was hoping to narrow it down a little with the help of some experienced individuals.
