photo descriptions with voiceover on the new iphone xr

hi all, i just got my iphone xr on friday and I have selected the option to navigate images with description, and I do a three finger single tap and the photo won't tell me what it is, it just says rows one to ten of ten or something like that. so what am i doing wrong, has apple changed the jesture?

Hello: Try switching off VOICEOver and then switching him back on and hopefully it can solve this problem. Often this happens. Also, the setting you just toggled, to navigate images with or without descriptions, only applies to Web browsers like Safari, and what VoiceOver will behave when encountering images on the Web. So in essence you are having VoiceOver tell you images that are properly tagged online, and won't tell you images that aren't. Which brings me to images that VO will describe with the single tap with three fingers gesture. It should be able to do that by default without changing any setting. (Anyone correct me if I'm not right here). And, you can even have VoiceOver describe images on the Internet that it encounters that aren't labeled by using the three finger single tap.
