Hello all,
So I'm finally thinking of upgrading from my 6S Plus and am wondering which one of the Xs lines to go with. I've done a comparison between the XS and XR, and one aspect I'm a bit concerned about is the dual vs single camera. I do have some usible vision, and it would be nice to have a nice big screen, but I have an Ipad Pro in the case of needing a great screen. The cameras though ... I like many of you like to use magnification apps and OCR recognition. Has anyone noticed a big improvement in this department between the two phones? Does the duel camera really make much difference? Also, one thing I haven't figured out is do both models allow for recording in stereo? That would be really nice also. Then there is the X Max. I think that one might be overkill, but what are your thoughts?

XR
I own an Iphone XS Max myself, and so it may seem rather odd that I am recommending the XR instead of the XS Max, But honestly after owning the max the XR looks like a better deal to me.
Longer battery life for one which the XS Max lacks by quite a lot if the comments on here and my friend who owns an XR can be believed, The screen is almost the same on both accept of course if you have good enough vision to notice the difference.
and having used both duel camera iphones and single camera models, I can definitely say that the duel camera's are slightly better for taking portrat shots and the like, but in terms of OCR etc they don't make any differemce at all. not that the camera on the XR is a sloutch by any means
As for stario recording, that's only for videos atm, and both the phones are capable of doing it.
also, the XR is much much cheaper as compare to the max, so I figure why not save some if all you get is a lower battery life and an oled screen for about $200 extra?
I would have returned my max and gotten an XR if I could, but alas. Apple has turned into an arse where I live.
So up to you really, if you think you can see the difference between both the screen and like the oled enough to get less battery life and not much else, then the max is the phone for you, for everything else the XR will do it, and do it good. :D
Thank you
I highly doubt I'd notice that much of a difference between the screens. My 6S Plus is already pretty good in that department, and the XR's screen is around the same size, if not maybe a little bigger. Either way I'm sure the phone will be a decent improvement from the one I have now. I lement the loss of the headphone jack and home button, but both of those are old news I'm just going to have to get used to.
Hi,
Hi,
In my opinion, go for the XS. it's like the iPhone X, which i have, plus the stereo recording, and the Oled display like the X. One point i have to make on oled vs LCD is the energy usage that people don't realize. With Oled displays, when the screen curtain is turned on, or if the display has black on it, pixel's aren't being lit, because each pixel on old screens are their own lights. No need for a backlight that sucks your battery usage. the XR is an LCD whereas, the X, XS, and XS max are Oled screens which I love. Not because I can see them, but the energy aspect. Sure some say that the battery life on the XR is greater than the XS, and XS max, but how can that be? Even with the XR phone, when screen curtain is being used, the LCD backlight is still drawing current. That's my biggest thing with LCD vs oled. It's truely a matter of what ya can afford. If you want the XS go with that. Also one other thing. The XR is right in the middle of the road between the XS and XS max in terms of screen size. XS and X have 5.8 inch edge to edge displays, XR has 6.1 inch screen. Like i said earler, get what you can afford.
Interesting
That's very interesting. I did not know that about the different displays. Definetly something to keep in mind. Thank you.
Sure, no prob! Figured my
Sure, no prob! Figured my experience with last year's oled display might help ya out a little bit. Good luck!
What you may be saying could
What you may be saying could be true if you look at Apple's battery life for both phones the xr wins. No matter if OLED is better or not real use cases aren't seeing what your saying. GO read any tech review on the xr and they all say battery life is much better.
XR for the win
Hi,
I recently got 2 chances to play with an iphone XR, and the experience was amazing, and I love everything about the phone. sure, the new gestures will take a while for me to get used to, but the longer battery life is a big plus. in fact, I'm actually going to upgrade from an iPhone 7 to the XR, for it's speed and longer battery life. so, in short, XR for the win.
XS
I have it and like it. Now if you want the iPhone with the new chip that is on iPhone 11, next year in Spring or close apple suppose to release a new phone that will be close to the 8. Is suppose to have the finger print, the new chip and fast. Also suppose to be cheaper
