Hi!
Every time a contextual ad, such as offer to download an app or view concerts for an artist etc pops up, the phone vibrates. The ad is viewable near the top of the screen.

I don't know what to tell you. I'd contact the makers of the youtube ap but I don't know who they are.

Google acquired YouTube, and they develop the YouTube app.

Brad and Ming, I'm not sure if you saw, but Jakob Rosin explained why this is happening in the first reply. It vibrates whenever a contextual ad appears. Jakob, thanks for answering as I was curious as well, but never troubled enough to ask about it.

I was wondering the same thing why YouTube was vibrating randomly. Now I know. It wasn't a big deal to me and wasn't bothering so that's why I never asked.
It's been vibrating at random times for months now though so this isn't a new thing.

Yes, I have had this too.
It's odd, been happening for months now. I didn't know about the thing with the ads, are those accessable with VoiceOver like can it read the ad?

this happens when cards, annotations or any other screen info pops up. No way to turn it off either. Very irritating.

I personally think it's a clever and less intrusive way of telling you that a card popped up. Would you rather have VoiceOver babble on a message like "card displayed" every time this happens? Video creators sometimes display these in the middle of a video to link to something related to what you're watching. Sometimes, it's obvious because they'll tell you that they'll link to a previous video or whatever, but just as often they'll say nothing and then this queue is quite useful and something which doesn't exist at all on the web.

It tips you off there is info being displayed in a non-intrusive way. We definitely need more ways of that in my opinion. But, the option to toggle it, would always be desireable, true. :)

Is there a quick/accurate/single gesture way to iteract with a pop up card? Sometimes I hate to have to go after the link in the description.

Hello Michael Charlton,
Cards will always appear in the top right -hand corner of the video player. You can just simply double-tap on them to go to whatever the uploader has set the card to do.
Annotations and cards information:
Cards are fairly new in YouTubes features, they were made to replace annotations after YouTube retired them in late 2017. All videos with annotations will have them removed on15.1.2019.
Annotations were able to:
Link the viewer to a specified timecode in the current playing video,
Link the user to any other video
and open websites.

Cards are like annotations. They generally have the same features apart from:
Cards can't link the viewer to a specific timecode
and an uploader can now create a small multi-optional form with a card consisting of radio buttons. They can obviously choose the option titles, the number of options and adding more info about the form. The form can be about whatever the uploader wants. For example,a suggestion on the next upload.
Hope this helps.
