This rating for Adobe Connect has not changed as of this posting for Version 2.3 and testing on an iPhone 5 and iPhone 6. The app is completely inaccessible with Voice Over, with no way to even access the screen elements. A message has been sent to Adobe through their Accessibility links, which basically just links you to the main contact form for Adobe products.

Hi, does anyone know if there has been any improvement or change in the accessibility of this app, or if adobe has responded to the requests? thanks.

Launching this app, either directly or from a URL, changes the screen to landscape and presents 32 pages of legal disclaimer with no actionable elements. A sighted person sees an "agree" button on the first page, but it is hidden from VO. Subsequent screens present the same issue: buttons and other screen elements that are visible regardless of VO status, but cannot be found, focussed nor acted upon while VO is enabled.

I would not counton there being any changes anytime soon. As a lecturer who often has to teach with Adobe Connect I can tell you that the problem is that Adobe thinks this application, both on computer and mobile device, is perfectly accessible. I have had many meetings with Adobe on the subject - mainly concerning the PC application but touching on the mobile one too - and they are characterised by Adobe's not taking the problem seriously. The PC version works, after a fashion, with Jaws, but there are a number of serious limitations (no audible notifications to indicate that a student has raised his hand, serious lag when trying to navigate pods such as the attendees pod with the arrow keys, inability to navigate the chat pod with the arrow keys, those will do for three examples). When last I tested the Mac version, that was a lot less accessible than the PC version. Adobe Connect has never been usable on IOS. I have tried to work with adobe on this one, showing technicians from the company how a much better classroom suite called Blackboard Collaborate works on both PC and Mac (not sure about IOS for that one), but such is their lack of interest that I have given up. If you need to attend an Adobe Connect classroom, I'm afraid PC is your best bet and even there you are going to have a limited experience.

Yes, I have seen that in their webpage they state it is accessible both in windows and Mac, but I have tried the commands it lets for Mac and it doesn't read anything.
I am taking an online program that requires it, so I've had to install windows on my Mac to use it.
I'm using it with narrator for now, and I can't read the chat or what people are presenting. Can you read the chat in anyway with JAWS or see the presentations?
Is there something we could do to insist that Adobe make it accessible in both iOS and Mac?

Hi Rafaela, I know this is now not about IOS so the topic police will be angry, but here are some pointers for using Adobe Connect in your online classes:

1. CTRL F6 will navigate you between the pods.
2. What I suggest you do with the chat pod is activate chat sounds, and reverse the order of messages. You can do this by pressing CTRL F8 when you have the chat pod in focus. This will bring up the menu with those various options.
3. You can tab around the chat pod. Jaws will indicate when you are on the edit field and can type into it. Be aware that most of the time you then need to press tab to get to the send button before pressing enter. If you don't do this, your message won't necessarily send. Pressing tab past the send button gets you to the chat history, but contrary to what Adobe say this is not navigable with the arrow keys. Instead, Jaws will read the dozen or so most recent messages to you, hence my tip about reversing the order of messages so you get the most recent ones first.
4. CTRL E will raise and lower your hand, but Adobe Connect will not tell you whether your hand is raised or lowered, so you have to remember.
5. I have not found a way to make any of the sharing features work. As a tutor I can upload documents for my students to download but I have never tried it from the perspective of an attendee.
6. Try and have a word with your tutor about the limitations you are experiencing. A good tutor needs to adapt to the position of learners like yourself. You're not imposing on them - it is part of the tutor's job. When I attended Adobe Connect classes as a student during my teaching qualification, even small things like the tutor reading questions she had been asked in the chat pod was really helpful. it meant I didn't have to put up with the wretched behaviour of Adobe Connect in reading loads of chat to me, and it also meant that other participants didn't have to listen to jaws talking - sometimes this can be heard by others in the class even when you are using headphones. if your tutor is using slides, try and get these sent to you in advance.

It's such a shame the IOS version of this won't work. It's a nuisance.
