How does Weather Gods compare to Dark Sky? I am especially interested in the alerts side of things since that would probably be most useful to me.

By Holger Fiallo on Sunday, April 23, 2017 - 07:55

Like the app but I have issue with location changing all the time in my app. I live in the northside of Chicago. My location keeps going to Lincoln wood or Evanston IL. This is giving me a big headache.

By peter on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 - 07:55

What types of alerts are available in this app?

Also, are the alerts based on your current location or do you specify a location or will it give both types of alerts?

Thanks.

Hi Pete,

Sorry for the late reply - I forgot we had an entry here :)

The alerts are based on locations you enter into the app - you can have up to seven locations and twelve notifications per location.

Alerts for current location will be in a future release, hopefully before 2018.

Hi does anyone know how to turn off the follow me feature? Whenever I go to another town it gives me the weather for that area but I never go far enough away where the weather would be all that different so it is more annoying than helpful. I was not able to find where to turn this off. Any help would be great!

By Justin on Friday, March 23, 2018 - 07:55

Hi,
Try going into the current location and scroll down until you see the follow me switch, turn it off and you should be good to go. Also, it might be in the settings for the app, or in weather gods settings under the main settings page on your home screen.

By JeffB on Friday, March 23, 2018 - 07:55

Awesome I found it thanks for the help!!

Hi. I'm in Blackpool Lancashire in the UK and I've just downloaded this app the other day and it's really sweet. However, i have rain as it happens turned on and the notifications seem a little inconsistent. twice already this week it's rained and i haven't been notified, as a result garden furniture cushions and I got soaked lol. However, it seems that when the rain happens in the evening, I'm notified. Also, how does the weather wheel work? Is it accessible to us? I've double tapped on it and either I'm missing something or nothing comes up for us Voiceover Users.

By Justin on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 - 07:55

Hi,
Rain events, like all notifications occur 15 minutes before the event. The weather wheel is accessible with VO. What you do is double tap the wheel, then touch twoards the bottom of the screen, it should say something like friday 10 AM then the conditions for that hour. THen you have the next/prev hour/day buttons that will do what they say.
HTH and good luck

I am in Australia and have had problems with weather notifications for rain and thunderstorms. I reported the issue to the developer, but they said that this was due to them using one data provider for the whole world.

By Troy B on Saturday, June 23, 2018 - 07:55

Sometimes I will get the sound of rain when going through hour by hour but voiceover claims there's no chance of rain that hour. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

Troy

Hi Troy,

Thanks for the feedback. I will look into this.

The rain unlikely message is generally produced if chance of rain less than 30%. I will check at what percentage we play the rain sounds.

Thanks

Hi, yesterday afternoon, I noticed that weather gods just quit working. I have tried removing the app and putting it back on my phone, with the same resut. After the app opens, it just sits there. I don't get any data about the weather or anything. Help?

On my phone, most of the time when I open the app it says something like weather services not responding or something like that. I don't think voiceover always reads this automatically, but it's there and if I double tap on the screen with 2 fingers it reloads the app and it comes up normally then. I don't know if that's the problem but I hope that helps.

By Weather Gods (Scott) on Saturday, June 23, 2018 - 07:55

Hi treky fan

Sorry to hear about the problems with our app.

The advice from Troy is good - I've now tracked down the data services problem with a fix in the next update.

If you still can't get it to work then send me an email support@weathergods.cloud and I will try and help. I've had a couple of other users with the same problem - I think it's something to do with the change of app ownership we went through a couple of weeks ago.

Regards
Scott

Hello everyone
Weather Gods no longer works correctly on my Apple Watch series for. I used to use it on my Apple Watch Series 2 and voiceover would read the current weather conditions with Weather Gods as a complication on the watch. Voiceover No longer reads the current weather conditions when you swipe on it, it tells you to double tap to open Weather Gods. Is anyone else experiencing this issue with an Apple Watch four and whether gods? Is there any plans to fix this so that weather gods will work again with the Apple Watch four? Thank you

By charles on Friday, November 23, 2018 - 07:55

I received a series 4 Apple watch on Tuesday. How do I use Weather Gods, one of my favorite weather apps on my iPhone 8 plus, on the watch? Thanks.

By Ekaj on Friday, November 23, 2018 - 07:55

Hi all. The link to the Weather Gods site in this entry seems to be broken. When I clicked it I got a "forbidden" message. I just got my first iPhone earlier this year and have not yet downloaded this app. I want to read more about it if at all possible before getting it, due to financial reasons. The app seems amazing though. Also, why isn't the audio walkthrough connected to this entry? It was very well done.

By Weather Gods (Scott) on Friday, November 23, 2018 - 07:55

Hi Charles,

We fully support the series 4 watch and complications.

To use Weather Gods on the watch:

1. Open the Watch App on the iPhone and install Weather Gods to the watch
2. Choose your watch face and add any Weather Gods complications

Each of our complications can be configured by:

1. Open the Watch App on the iPhone
2. Swipe down to Weather Gods and double tap
3. Swipe through the various settings and configure the information that you would like Weather Gods to display on the complications
4. There are some Voiceover specific settings at the bottom of the configuration.

Please send me an email support@weathergods.cloud if you need any more info or assistance?

Thanks
Scott

By Weather Gods (Scott) on Friday, November 23, 2018 - 07:55

Hi Lisa,

Sorry to hear about the problems with Weather Gods on the watch.

I also have the series 2 and it is working fine for me.

Are you still running Watch OS4 or have you upgraded to OS5?

Please feel free to email me support@weathergods.cloud and I will try and get it working again.

Thanks
Scott

I just purchased your app. It turns out that I actually had enough on this iTunes gift card to do so. Other card seems to have expired, but I'll deal with that later. But the app is working great thus far on my iPhone. Nice job!

By Holger Fiallo on Sunday, December 23, 2018 - 07:55

A great wonderful Woman gave me an apple watch 3 for Christmas and I just check to make sure my weather gods is in my apple watch. Question what type of setting would work better on the apple watch? Totally Blind. I have it set perfect in my iPhone XX but I think the watch is different regarding what I need.

By Holger Fiallo on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 - 07:55

Perfect. The app is getting better and better. I wandering if this is possible or already there and I had not seen it. Alerts for smog and heat warning.

By Weather Gods (Scott) on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 - 07:55

Hi Orko,

Just a quick update to say that although we use the data from IBM we don't keep, track or send any location data to anyone. In fact, the only data we store on our servers is completely anonymous and used to send out notifications - using the same techniques Apple use to send you notifications.

By Weather Gods (Scott) on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 - 07:55

Hi Holger,

Yes, we are hoping to add an air quality notification and humidity/heat.

By Maranatà on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 - 07:55

Forgive me but the only thing I found good in this application is its full accessibility. When I made the purchase I thought that you could hear the sound of rain and wind but not with recorded sounds, but in real time. Unfortunately it is not so, I also imagined to be able to hear the sound of the sea to know the strength of the waves. Furthermore, his name is blasphemous to me, it would have been better to call this application "elements of time" and not "the Gods of time", God is one and this name is offensive to many. Finally some weather information of my city on the wind is strongly wrong, yesterday gave me a wind force of 19 km instead the air was still. For all these reasons I deleted this application from my iphone. Honestly I was very disappointed. I would like an application that allows us blind people to listen to the weather but as it is in reality, and also the noise of the sea waves in real time.

By Holger Fiallo on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 - 07:55

Well he is not happy but all of us who use the app have no issues or complaints. This app is getting better with time.

By Justin on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 - 07:55

Love the app, and it keeps getting better. Keep up the great work with the weather gods app scott, and to the previous poster who finds this app name offensive, just get rid of it. Personally, I love the name and it is in relationship to the gods of weather, but whatever floats your boat! Once again, keep up the great work Scott and can't wait to see what's next in relationship to your planned alerts you were talking about in the release notes for this update, in reguards to the storm alerts from the NWS and other sources.

By Weather Gods (Scott) on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 - 07:55

Hi Maranatà,

I'm sorry to hear that you are not happy with the app. Please request a refund from Apple.

Thanks for giving us a go.

By Maranatà on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 - 07:55

I'm not completely dissatisfied, your app is perfectly accessible and very detailed. For example, the thing that I really liked is knowing in real time the direction and intensity of the wind in real time. But twice in my area it gave me wind to 19 km and instead the wind was absent. Also I would like the weather sounds to be live and not already recorded. I would like to feel the rain in real time when it rains, the wind in real time when it blows and the sea waves live to feel the real strength of the waves. And finally forgive me, but the app must change its name, as a Christian I can not accept that in my iphone there is an app called this way, God is one, there are no other Gods! If these changes are made, I will be ready to support you and install your app again.

By Maranatà on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 - 07:55

Excuse me, but also the Gods that are inside the app must be eliminated, leave only fire, air, ice water and moon, without god in front, or replace it with another thing.

By That Blind Canuck on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 - 07:55

My apologies, but complaining over the word "God" or "Gods" in the title and within the app is a little over the top. Being born and raised as a Christian myself, I see this app for what it is, an accessible, harmless weather app and I do not find any offense in the word "God" being used.

If the app truly offends or displeases you, you can simply delete the app and use another one. There are plenty of apps out there in the app store that are accessible. The native weather app built in to iOS and even Weather Office are two that come to mind. I would understand such a change if the majority of the community had similar issues, but since it appears that the issues come from so few, then I believe that it is an unreasonable request.

As for using real live audio of various weather, I believe this would be rather difficult to accomplish and possibly data intensive as it would have to stream these audio tracks online. Having pre-recorded tracks is perfectly fine and uses much less data.

By Justin on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 - 07:55

Completely agree with Blinken223 on their previous comment. I could care less about live weather sounds, they don't matter to me. What does matter, is notifications of precipitation, wind, and others.

By techluver on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 - 07:55

Just wondering if there's a user manual? I have gotten this app, but I feel like I've just scratched the surface of what this app can tell me about things around me. I'd love to explore more. All I use it for is the weather forecast right now, which is silly because it's got so many more features.

By Weather Gods (Scott) on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 - 07:55

Hi techluver,

We deliberately left out a user manual as we wanted the features of the app to be something that the user discovered. We tried hints and tips in the past but found that most people skipped straight past them!

You are more than welcome to send me an email and I will be happy to list out the features or explain more about specific features.

We also have an Apple Watch app and Widget as well.

By techluver on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 - 07:55

Thanks. I usually don't really "explore" apps, i read guides. but i'll try to figure out what I need it for and how it can help me.

By Holger Fiallo on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 - 07:55

Just because one individual with his own issues does not like the name, the app will not change. We like it they way it is. The person does not need to use it. He can always deleted from his phone. Do not change anything.

By Justin on Saturday, March 23, 2019 - 07:55

Hi,
The sunrise and set times are shown, in several different areas of the app. One place is in the weather wheel if you know what hour they occur, you can see the time they will occur. For instance if it says7 AM, cloudy; sunrise: 7:20, then other conditions for that hour. THen if you're at 6:00 PM, sunset: 6:00PM.

By Weather Gods (Scott) on Saturday, March 23, 2019 - 07:55

As Justin says, the weather wheel is one place to find the times, also the timeline for the fire god.

Another option is a push notification for sunrise and sunset.

Finally, I am hoping to add a Siri Shortcut for sunrise, sunset and the moon information.

By Holger Fiallo on Saturday, March 23, 2019 - 07:55

Agreed. I can get all of that in the apple watch in the Mickey Mouse face but not in the others. Looking to see that the new weather Gods update will fix this.

By Weather Gods (Scott) on Saturday, March 23, 2019 - 07:55

Hi Holger,

I have managed to fix and test on a number of different faces.

I would be happy to send you a beta invite if you would like to get the fix before the big severe weather alert update?

Regards
Scott

In reply to by Weather Gods (Scott)

I would like to say yes. Like Christmas I will wait. When the app is coming?

By Weather Gods (Scott) on Saturday, March 23, 2019 - 07:55

Hmmm ... good question ... weather alerts are challenging with so many countries.

I would say 2 to 4 weeks.

By Holger Fiallo on Saturday, March 23, 2019 - 07:55

I will wait because this is worth the wait. I consider this app to be one of the best. I like how it gives me the info in my apple watch 3 and notification in my iPhone. Will wait for it and iOS 12.2 to come out at the same time.

By Weather Gods (Scott) on Saturday, March 23, 2019 - 07:55

Thanks Holger.

By Justin on Saturday, March 23, 2019 - 07:55

Hi Scott, what's the plan for rolling out the weather alerts. Will you stagger them, country by country. Say roll out US, canada, and UK first? Then move on to other countries/regions? Thought I'd ask, just for clarification.
Thanks, and keep up the great work. One thing I'd like to say on here is sometimes when in the weather wheel and going hour by hour, the app likes to freeze for a while. Going home with the gesture doesn't work. What I have to do is close VO down, the relaunch VO, then either wait for it to start working again, or lock the screen. Wait to come start speaking againn, then reopen the app by unlocking with FaceId. Also... are there any plans to implement a swipe or tap gesture to scroll hour by hour in the weather wheel, instead of tapping the next hour every time?
Thanks!

By Weather Gods (Scott) on Saturday, March 23, 2019 - 07:55

Hi Justin,

These will be the first phase:

1. USA
2, Canada
3. UK
4. Germany
5. France
6. Italy
7. Spain
8. Greece
9. Norway

Thanks for the report on the weather wheel, I will run some tests. Also, the idea of a gesture for hour by hour is a good one - we have three finger swipe for day by day.

By Justin on Saturday, March 23, 2019 - 07:55

Got ya! Hmm, how about a two finger swipe left and right to move hour by hour when in the wheel? I think that would work great. Keep it relatively simple. 3 finger swipe for day, 2 finger swipes for hour.
