Blindfold Doggy

Category

Description of App

Blindfold Doggy is a fully accessible dog ownership simulation game, for both sighted and visually impaired people, designed for rapid audio play. The object of the game is care for your dog: the better you care for your dog, the more points you'll score.

After learning the sounds your dog makes when he needs something, you must take care of your dog: feed him, walk him, give him water, brush him and play with him.

For example, to walk your dog, put on his collar and leash, open the door and start walking: swipe down with one finger. Each down swipe takes you one step further from home. Each up swipe takes you one step closer to home. When you leave the house for a walk, the front door automatically closes behind you. To go back inside, walk back to the door and open it. Make sure you close the door, or your dog may run away.

Once you've mastered taking care of one dog, try taking care of two. It's much harder!

Then try the adventure game - go shopping for new toys and food, and take your dog to the veterinarian for routine checkups.

The game comes with limited play before you run out of food. To get unlimited play, or other options, use the in-app upgrades.

Awesome stuff. Much different from the usual and well worth it.

By Sabrina on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

Playing the practice game for now but will get my gift card. I will have to wait for wednesday wich sucks because I want it now. I have to do with the practice game until wednesday but I will be getting it. Yay!

By DMNagel on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

Absolutely love the realism in the game. One must literally walk to the stores to get stuff.

By alex wallis on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

Hi all, I am having a problem getting the app,
I tap the get option, then I double press the side button to confirm I want to install and my face ID authenticates, then VoiceOver says loading but after a few minutes this stops and the button goes back to saying get and the app isn't installed.
Has anyone else from the UK or anywhere else experienced this issue? its not a problem with my iPhone, as I tried turning it off and on again, it made no difference, and I also tried installing a different app that I hadn't downloaded before and the install went OK, so it seems to be this specific app for some reason.

By Sabrina on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

This is very wierd seeing that I didn't have any problem. I am in Sweden and I managed. I look forward to the adventure. I think this is my new favourite game. I love virtual pets.

By Ornella on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

Will get this later. I hope I could get a gift card soon because I can't wait to buy it.

By alex wallis on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

all fixed I have been able to install it now, I guess the appstore must have had a problem for a while or something.

This is a really great game, if I had the money to shell out. It's kinda ridiculous; about $9, I think, for all the upgrades. Think about what you could be doing with that money besides leveling up in a dog-owner simulation game.

But this is finally a realistic game the blind can play with no problems. Cudos to Marty Schultz for this one.

By mority on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

So, I normaly don't have anything nice to say about Blindfold games, but for this one I do make an acception because it's actually quite a new concept, how good it will work needs to be seen.
The problem I have again with this is the steap price point. all in all you are paying about 12 dollars for all upgrades, food and toys. This would be the price of a proffessional game with let's say a continious storie, break through game play and what not, this one leavs a bitter taste that Marty still thinks that all of his customers have money pooping dogs in their backyard, no pun intended.
If you ask me, reduce the max price to about 5 or 6 dollars, and this is for me personally the highest price I would pay for that game, normally these type of games are at about 2 to 3 dollars.
Now, I do would like to see this game beeing extended with for example different breeds of dogs which have different needs, for example border collie's and huskys have a lot of energie and need to be walked more often or for longer times, Labradors would need more food and also need to be played with more, if that gets implemented one could expand on it.
Also, is there the plan to release other pet sims in the future? A sim where you would for example need to care for and train a horse would be quite nice to have, I am an equestrian myself so I could help with some features and things to look out for if that even gets considerated.
Again, in a nut shell, an interesting game with an interesting concept, but with a to steap price.

Kind regards

I've been waiting for a pet simulation game. Hatchi was all right, but they aren't real animals, you know? There are virtual pet sites, but I really have been wanting something exactly like what this sounds like. I am definitely going to try this out.

By HarmonicaPlayer on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

blindfold doggie's sounds are cute and verry realistic:) i got a big kick out of game.

By treky fan on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

Subject line says it all, I usually never play or buy the upgraces for any of the games released by this dev. Its not that the games are bad or anything, its just the price for upgrades. But this time, I made an acception and bought the biggest bundle they had. I've been looking for a game like this that is completely useable with voiceover. I tried sites like furry paws and found that they lacked in useability or game play. This game combines both of these in to one very nice package. One little issue I'm having though, when I walk my dog, the control center seems to pop up after a few steps. I have the latest version of iOS on my phone.

By DMNagel on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

There are no different breeds of dogs, however you can customize your dog's size as well as it's living habits. With this option, i'd say all you need is an imagination.

I don't have the Control Center issue. That's odd, since it shouldn't even pop up with a one-finger swipe no matter what.

I only bought the first bundle, with Adventure, dog customization, ability to play with two dogs, etc. I think it'd be good to have different barks and sounds depending if the dog is small or large.

I've already e-mailed Marty with a list of suggestions, one of which is to have the notification make a sound. It's currently silent, which is bad because it could be missed.

By DMNagel on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

He is yet to take his first swim. Had to take him to the vet after both fights. The first fight took a while because i froze in shock and i took a while to get Achilles out of there. The longer the fight, the higher the damage and vet costs.

By mority on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

At 14, well, I didn't say that I was searching for different breeds, I only said that it would be a nice to have in a possible upgrade.
Regarding the prices again, I checked for the prices of the single options and wow, seriously Marty?
One example, customize dog, a simple setting changing some numbers which are mostly there for cosmetic reasons costs 2.30 dollars, for a customisation! 99 cents, not more for this thing, it's just outrageus to expect users to pay that much money for a, and I repeat myself again, a customisation thing? I can just say again, the price for the game needs to drop, check earlier comment.
Also, I noticed a bug in the main menu, if you want to listen to the sounds again and you already have a game in progress, the app asks you if you want to start a new game, when you click yes, you get the sounds and the game is still there, still, I see this as a bug which needs to be reported.

By lelia on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

Hi there, here is my issue, this happened with both the practice game and it’s happened once so far with the simple game. Sometimes I know I take the leash off and when I go to put it on later my dog runs away because it says I don’t take the leash off and I lose all my points. Has anyone in countered this? I wanted to bring it up to you guys before I brought it up to the developer. Thanks

By Sabrina on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

I know the practice game ends when you are out of food. When does it end in the other games?

By Sabrina on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

I also have the leech issue. I hate waiting because I cannot get the gift card until wednesday. I know my name means patience, but honestly, when it comes to these kinds of things I am not opatient at all. Almost completed the practice game.

By Andromache on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

In reply to by lelia

I've had that happen to me, too. I'm wondering if it's connected to having a trained dog. Because once they're trained, apparently you have to whistle for them to sit before attaching and detaching the leash. Heck, honestly, the game allows me to just leave the house without attaching a leash. You should try it. And this is with dogs that are under a hundred points. Untrained dogs should always be on a leash.

I'm also running into an annoying thing where I'll take my dog out to pee and then he'll finish and then when I take him back home, he'll pee on my floor and I'll lose points. But when I checked the status, it said he would need to go again in an hour. The status isn't properly tracking changes when we interact with our dogs. Number of uses for toys is also inaccurate and not being properly tracked. The gameplay is honestly somewhat frustrating at the moment. No one likes losing points for something they have no control over.

There is no official end to the game. Unless the dog ages and dies, I suppose.

By treky fan on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

Hi, you aren't the only one having the leash issue. This has happened to me more than once. I'll go to put my dog's leash on, and I'm told he runs away because I didn't take it off, when I know I took it off in the first place.

And then when you review the game log, it says the dog wasn't sitting when the leash was removed or some such. That's what it says in my game. But this dog has less than a hundred points and I can't get it to sit at all. It would seem the game doesn't know whether a dog is considered trained or not and thus whether it's reasonable to expect it to sit.

I've had problems where the dog sounds don't play at all when resuming a game.

By mority on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

Hi. Yeah, I also had those issues, including the leash, peeing on the floor, also went i walked the dog and I am back home, the poop status imediately jumps to right now so I have to leash the dog again. Pritty buggy for a game costinga almost 12 dollars Marty, don't ya think?

By lelia on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

Sometimes he monitors things so maybe he sees this. But I will go ahead and go in the app and email him about my issues and I think you guys should too. I really do love this game he really did a great job.

Hi - I know about many of these bugs and I'm working on a new version to address all of those issues.
Please be patient. This app was in testing for about 3 months, but obviously not all the problems were found
Thanks and keep reporting problems.

By tunmi13 on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

My dog hasn't fought yet, but who knows, this post could jinx that.

By DMNagel on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

Don't bother with leash unless you fed or played with him first. When outside, whistle sit first before removing leash. Keep leash on when whistling go play and come here.

I've been reporting the issues I've been finding.

I think the poop scooper should be usable inside the house as well as outside, in case the dog makes a mess in there. I tried to use it in the house and got the message that I didn't clean up. I was trying to.

As of now, I just don't bother with the leash at all. The game doesn't prevent me, and it beats losing oodles of points unnecessarily.

By DMNagel on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

I use the leash only to go swimming. This should work without the leash, but this to seems like a bug that needs reporting. Come here, sit and go play whistles doesn't work when leash is off, but they work with leash on though. It should be the other way around.

By Sabrina on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

The problem <I have is that even when running out of food you are still in the game. Also, she eats food and then I loose points.
I see a high score feature onn the main menu but don't know how to actually get my score up there.

By DMNagel on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

The question never came through.

By Sabrina on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

Oops. Strange. The problem I am having is that my food has ran out and I am still playing. Also, it sounds like Medusa is eating when there is no food. I have a question. There is a highscore but I don't know how to get my score there. When is this game over or is it endless?ee

By DMNagel on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

I'm on adventure and it seems to be endless. Swipe down with 3 fingers to check your dog's status. If he is not hungry and can still eat without food in your inventory, it must be a bug. Also, not sure about the highscore thing. You get points for almost everything you do right. Every ting is a point gained. Every twang is a point lost.

It should be. Makes no sense to whistle come and go with the leash on.

I have discrepancies between what the status says my food is and what a three-finger tap says it is.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and the first time I tried to put the leash on, I lost a point for supposedly already having it on. However, the status tracked it properly and said the leash was on only after I put it on. And even though I lost a point, I was able to remove the leash. And then when I went to put the leash back on, my dog ran off. If you check the log, he runs off multiple times, and that's why he goes straight to zero.

There are just a ton of problems tracking changes to the dog, I think. I'll probably just wait until the next release to try again. My dog doesn't have any points anyway.

By DMNagel on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

I have reported the 3 finger tap bug. There is also a kibble bug that allow players to carry over their kibble from previous games when they start new ones. Seems like the game and some settings doesn't reset properly.

By flcomputergeek on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

I'm enjoying this game. I like that it's much more customizable than other simulator games I have played. I think it would be really cool if Marty were able to implement some other animal options as in-app purchases, such as a cat, baby, hedgehog, etc.

This is not controlled by the game. You two options:
1) Start you swipes slightly higher up from the bottom
2) In the settings app, under general, change the control center to not work from apps.

If notifications are appearing, you are starting too high on the screen. That's not controlled by the app - that's an iOS feature.

That bug, and dozens of others, will be fixed in the next release. Thanks for everyone for finding these bugs.
It was in testing for about 2 months - way longer than most games - but still, bugs are bugs.

By KidFriendlySoftware on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

I will be testing the new version for a few days before submitting it to apple.

Version 1.4.6

No longer inquires about new game vs. existing game for some menu choices that do not relate to playing a game.
Fixed bug in adventure game where you accidentally got millions of kibble portions.
Adjusts kibble portion back to a sensible number if this happened to you.
Updated user guide with more info on the simple games, where there unlimited food and toy usage.
Changed game to keep track of points and coins separately.
Points and coins are associated with you and not your dog.
When you do something good, points and coins increase.
When you do something bad, points and coins decrease.
Points determine how trained your dog is.
If you are playing with one dog, you need 100 points. Two dogs, you need 200 points.
Coins are used for purchasing. When you purchase, you use up coins, but your score points will not change.
Now always tells you what percent the dog needs to poop.
Now always tells you what percent the dog needs to pee, and how soon.
Gives different messages beside run away when you do something really bad.
Changed point penalties when you don't feed or water dog, or forget to take off leash.
Fixed bug where squeaky toy status was wrong.
Fixed bug where inventory amounts for standard toys were wrong.
Whistle commands when leash is on, have no effect and will now buzz without losing points.
If you run out of food, and your dog needs to eat, the game continues with a very sad dog. You probably want to start a new game at that point.

By Sabrina on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

Hello.
Just wanted to tell you that this is one of the best games you have made EVER. I love virtual pets and this one is the most interesting I have played for iOs. Will get the biggest bundle tomorrow. Yay! Looking forward to taking care of two dogs. My current one is called Medusa and then there will be the headache with coming up with a name for the second one.

I suggested a cat, too, as well as animals that require cages, but lack of sounds might be a problem.

I have to say I really love the play sounds. You know, when you play with your dog. The fetch sounds are especially awesome. In fact, all the sounds are super realistic. The park, the town, the river, the stores. And I like that there is variety for the same action, so you're not just hearing one sound all the time.

I'm happy to hear an update is on the way.

I'd like to be able to change the dog's sex. I like the idea of having a male and female dog.

By Sabrina on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

It is not just a list where it says shop town or river, you actually have to literally walk there. I love that. It rocks. I want to sleep now so I will have tomorrow to get this card because I am just hating to wait for it. Yes, I usually have patience, but not when it's about things like this. Yeah, try the fetch sounds in stereo headphones. That's awesome. And the squeaky toys! Really cute. All sounds are actually realistic, from the door to the food to the footsteps.

By Sabrina on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

Guess what? I was just at the store and bought the gift card and now I am playing the adventure game with Medusa. I have set her to pee often and eat and drink often.

By Sabrina on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

The three finger double tap doesn't change when playing with toys and eating. I still have, for example, a toy that had fifty uses but now I still have fifty uses even though I have used it.

By Sabrina on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

Just saw that in the explanation of the new version. Thank you.

By Sabrina on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

I would like to know if there is a safe way to use the leach without loosing every single one of my points? Medusa is not close to being a trained dog but I know I need the leech. So how can I use the leech without loosing all of my points?

By DMNagel on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 14:11

Feed or play first before you put on the leash. This will prevent the leash bugs to activate. When outside, whistle sit first before removing the leash.
