Anyone know of a good free audio editing app that can be used with voice-over

Hi there, I was just wondering if anyone knew of an audio editing app that is free which I can use with voice-over.
The app should be able to filter out background noises, and if possible, reduce long pauses in the recording.

I use Hokusai but for some of these features you request you need to buy an upgrade. I love that app.

Don't remember if you have to pay anything. Don't think so. If you do, I wouldn't think it's much. Just Press Record will get rid of the silence spots, or so it claims. Also, it will transcribe whatever it records into text, and the text can be copied and pasted, which makes it a great app for note taking in school, if you are sitting close enough to the speaker and/or there isn't too much noise going on. You'll have to experiment with It to find out. personally, I wish I had had something like this back when I was in college. Wow! What trouble it would have saved me!
