I have an iPod Touch fifth generation. I need to be able to text people with Android phones or tablets. I don't really care about bells and whistles right now. I am a new user of iDevices. (I am a Apple convert.) If suggested Apps are free, so much the better!

I have used both the iOS Messages app, and Talkatone on my iPod Touch 4 to send text messages. I think that if the people on Android can receive text messages, Messages would work just fine. Otherwise, you may want to use a chat client. There's lots of those.

I'm 99% sure that WhatsApp doesn't work on iPod Touch because it uses your phone number rather than a username to identify you. Great app though.

Hi LaBoheme Yes I updated at Pinger EX om December 20 when this app came out , honestly I don't see any difference between pinger an Pinger EX, the only good point about Pinger EX gives 60 minutes free, and pinger I be leave 10 minutes. Note: you will receive notifications when new apps has realize or promotions via text. I don't know about the voiceOver issues whenever receive calls because I use just to text, should you try turn off voiceOver hitting triple click home and then backing on. Hope this helps.
