New features and expanded information in Weather.
Hello, thank you for yet another great podcast. I was not able to get all the weather information on my watch, that you received on your watch. So was just wondering what app you are using to get all that weather information on your Apple Watch? I have the series to watch, so I’m wondering if that could be why I don’t get all that information? Thank you.
Weather Question
Hey Lisa,
Not certain in which weather information you were talking about as there were several in the podcast. So I'll give you both answer and hopefully one of those is the one you were seeking for! ;)
Firstly, if you are talking about the weather notification that I get in the Notification Center. Check out the response I left for you on the iOS 12 podcast. As that is the one in the same app that I use to receive those alerts.
Secondly, if it's the new weather information like the wind speed, air quality, and such. That is in the Weather app itself on the Watch and yes that is available to you with the Series 2 Watch. It is in an easy spot. I believe I had to scroll up a bit and its buried right dab in the middle of all the weather information. Not very easy to access but it is there. ;)
Hope that helps and most of all answer your question!

More new features
Hi.
Thank you for an awesome podcast about the new features.
How do you get the audio from the watch into the recording?
Facetime Audio is now also available on the Watch. It works much better than I expected and it's highly recommendable.
I'm not sure if it's new, but the back gesture to activate the back button does also work.
I really like the new update for the Watch, which is much more stable on the Watch series 2. I was about to give up my Apple watch because I didn't found it stable, but this new update has really brought some new life to my Apple Watch.
The only disappointment is that the primium voices does not work on the watch yet, and you can't switch the speech language without changing the whole language on the watch. Switching the language is quite important for us who both use apps in English, and have other languages as our main language. So for this reason, my watch is set to English .
I don't fully get what differences it makes to connect the watch to wifi. I have to experiment with that.
Bluetooth Reciever
Hey slj,
To get your Apple Watch on to my mixer or recording was simple. I had purchased a Bluetooth receiver. Which is a device that ran me about $12. It's a very small device about 2 inches long and as thick as a thick pen. The only adapter is located at the top for a 3.5mm headphone jack. There are three buttons along the side of the unit. Originally, I purchased this for my headphone since the iPhone no longer has a headphone jack. I didn't want to use my dongle, so this did the trick. So it dawns on me that I could pair my Apple Watch to this Bluetooth receiver. Once paired I simply use that output to my mixer.
Hope that helps!

Thanks for the reply. Of course. Makes sense. :)
Possible Control Centre Bug
Alright, so after a bit of wait, I finally got my Series 4 Apple Watch, and coming from a Series 1, man is there a huge difference in speed. Now when I try to open a app, no longer do I have to, at times, double tap again to launch the app. It seems now that each time I tap on the app, it opens on the first try.
I did have a minor glitch with the Walkie Talkie app though, but it's been corrected. I had originally opened the app, which then showed me the list of my contacts, so I could then select one to add, but being a bit in a hurry, I closed the app and when I tried to open it up again, I could no longer see my list of contacts nor could I try and add one. I just had the H1 heading for the app name, Walkie Talkie, a small blurb of text letting me know that I could chat with friends with the Walkie Talkie app but had to add them first, and lastly, a heading titled "Contacts", with nothing afterwards. Wasn't sure how to get the list of contacts again but I remembered a trick from iMore on how to force shut down an app by pressing and holding the side button, until you get the options for powering off, the Medical ID and the Emergency SOS, then you press and hold the crown until you are returned to the list of apps. After trying this, I reopened the app and all was fine.
Now I did notice a small but with the Control Centre, but it doesn't seem to occur everytime, just every so often.
I was able, thanks to Anonymouse's podcast, edit the order of the widgets in the Control Centre, although VoiceOver didn't seem to notice the change until I put my hand on the watch to put it to sleep, then reopen the Control Centre, then the changes were read by VoiceOver. The bug I notice is that, sometimes, when you try to toggle a setting in the Control Centre, either the toggle switch doesn't work or it does and VoiceOver doesn't read the change.
For example, if I have my Mute toggle set to On, when I swipe to it and double tap with one finger, the toggle remains to the on position. The same went for any other of the settings in the Control Centre. I tried it again about 10 minutes later, and then it worked fine. Thinking it was just a one time glitch, I tried it again this morning and still, the toggle didn't change. So I am not sure if others are encountering this or not, perhaps this is just a butg in Watch OS. Either way, I plan on sending an email to Apple letting them know of this bug, once I can figure out how to successfully reproduce it each time.
Having Issue with Walkie Talkie
Alright, so I am beginning to have some issues with the Walkie Talkie app. I'Ve managed to add a friend, who I know has an Apple Watch running Watch OS 5. Once I sent the invite, I had his name appear in the list of friends, with VoiceOver reading out his name, "Invitation Sent" (or something like that) and "Available".
Now after a bit of waiting, I returned to the app and noticed that when viewing my list of friends, my friend's name appears, with the word "Available", which I am guessing that they accepted my invite.
Now here comes the tricky part. I've enabled, in the Watch app, under General, Acessibility, the option to simply tap the Talk button once to start and tap it again to stop.
Now back to the Walkie Talkie app, tap on my friend and then try to tap once on the Talk button and nothing, no sound. I tried following Anonymouse's trick from the podcast, by bringing VoiceOver focus on the Talk button, then doing a two-finger double tap to start talking and another two-finger double tap to stop, still nothing.
If I do a one-finger double tap and hold, then let go, then I hear the chime and try speaking, then I do another one-finger double tap and hear the chime again. Not sure if it worked, I haven't gotten a response from my friend and they seem to be busy, so I can't honestly confirm.
but I thought that if you enabled that Tap To Talk setting in the Watch app, that it should work. I even tried rebooting my phone and watch with no luck.
Am I missing anything here?
