3 quick questions about iOS 12

Hi! For me, if it wasn't for the broken image disscriptions, I'd pull the trigger right now! But, seeing as how that bug is there, and it's a hit or miss on who encounters it, I'm feeling hessitant about upgrading until that bug is exterminated. I rely on that and love that feature.

That being said, I have 3 quick questions.

1. Can the Qr. code reader be udse to identify/read packages and the like? Similar to what apps like Seeing AI. can do is what I mean.
2. If a document is scanned with the Notes app, can Vo. do OCR. on it and read the document like what can be done on apps such as Seeing AI.?
3. I understand there is a bug for accessing notifications on the lock screen on devices that are not set up with a passcode. I have a passcode, but I use touch ID. for unlocking my ipad mini 4. Does this bug happen if you have touch ID. as you're unlock method?

Big thanks in advance!

Hello Dawn,

You ask "1. Can the Qr. code reader be used to identify/read packages and the like? Like what apps like Seeing AI. can do is what I mean"
No. QR code is not something you use to identify an item or object. A QR code is simply an item say like a barcode. A QR code is something in square nature that can be read in any direction thus making scanning a QR easy. A QR code can only contain certain information. Some may point you to a web address. Some may have text and so on and so on. Unless that package as a QR code that contains text in that code. I suppose it could tell you what that is but normally that isn't the case. So no it isn't an AI that identify an item or an object.

You ask "2. If a document is scanned with the Notes app, can Vo. do OCR. on it and read the document like what can be done on apps such as Seeing AI.?"
Not quite. Yes, you can scan something like a letter or a note for say but it does not offer or perform any kind of OCR to obtain the text from it. Rather it saves that scan as an image. The Note app itself does not offer any kind of OCR of the image. I'm not certain if you can send that image to say like KNFBReader to get the OCR results but the actual native Note app does not offer this function.

You ask "3. I understand there is a bug for accessing notifications on the lock screen on devices that are not set up with a passcode. I have a passcode, but I use touch ID. for unlocking my iPad mini 4. Does this bug happen if you have touch ID. as you're unlock method?"
Nope. This will not affect you at all by the way you have your security preference set up. This only occurs if you don't have a passcode, Faced, or TouchID set up.

Thank you AnonyMouse!! That helps! Didn't think so, but wanted to check. It'd be nice to see those features added though.
O man, am I tempted to upgrade!
