Hello all,
Does anyone know of a text editor that is cross platform? I am wondering if there is one that works on both windows and mac.

Hi!! The only 1 I can think of is Microsoft Word. Plus, is pretty common on all platforms. Maybe there's others out there. But, I use Word on my ipad sometimes, and have found it to be accessible. If you need Microsoft Office, there's a web-based version that's free and a more stripped down version of it. I cannot recall the name of it though. Don't know how accessible it is.

You might try Google Docs too. Again, I haven't used it so I can't tell you much in terms of accessibility. But, for what it's worth, I'd use MS. Word.

Greg is referring to programming text editors and not word processors.

Hello,

I use Smultron on my Mac and it is very accessible. I know there is a Windows version, but I have no idea if it is as accessible as the one for the mac.

You can find and try Smultron here:

I hope that helps.

Hello,
I am not finding Smultron for windows. I see it for the Mac. Where can I take a look at it for Windows?

Hello,
Regarding Smultron, I think it has always been only on Mac. I know it was once open source.... Then 10.6 it was through the Mac app store. I don't think there was ever a Windows version.

Sorry, I really thought I read something about Smultron for Windows, but I couldn't find it anymore.

I know that Notepad++ is for Windows and Mac, but I have never used this editor myself.

Have a nice Day.

I'm truly not aware of any cross platform text editors. Notepad is a Windows based program. Not Mac. I know someone who was running Notepad on Mac using Wine Bottler. However, I have never used Wine Bottler. I don't know how accessible it is.
