FAQ
How do I put files into OPlayer?
To add files to your OPlayer app, you have to go to iTunes, and select the “Apps” tab. At the bottom of this page, there’s a “File sharing” section – just select OPlayer in the list, and add files from there. Note that you don’t have to sync your iPhone or iPad to iTunes to add movies. Just drop files in the “File sharing” tab, and they’ll be uploaded immediately. You can even use a friend’s iTunes to add videos to your own iPhone. Also, adding files over WiFi is supported. Indeed, WiFi is significantly slower than USB, and ruins the battery life.

What kind of streams does OPlayer play?
OPlayer is able to play RTSP/MMS/FTP/SAMBA streams, If you want to use OPlayer to open the streaming from your website, add "oplayer:" prefix in the URL.

I want to open an attachment from mail app with OPlayer?
If you want to watch an attachment in OPlayer(from Mail for example), just do a long press on the attachment. A menu will pop-up that will let you pick OPlayer as a player.

iTunes won’t see the files under OPlayer?
You need to enable backup in the settings page to see files in iTunes.

Why HD MKV movies don’t play smoothly?
Currently, only iPhone4s supports 720p MKV file, that’s to be expected. The other iDevices have limited computing power, and cannot handle the complex task of decoding HD movies in real time.

The audio and the video is not in sync?
That is because the CPU is not power enough to do video decoding, you can try to enable "Skip Frame" in the file detail page.

Is there a TV-out support?
Yep, but TV-out function only supported by iPod gen4, iPhone4, iPhone4S and iPad 1/2.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads most page elements.

Button Labeling

All buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

There are some accessibility issues with this app, but it can still be used if you are willing to tolerate these issues and learn how to work around them.

Other Comments

This is one of the multimedia apps that I found to be fully accessible and powerful for playing most formats whether audio or video. The minor setback with my experience is that I couldn't tell how to play the whole folder of my music since OPlayer would not go onto the next song. Otherwise, this is usable and refreshing after trying many similar paid and free players. A free version that displays ads is also available on the App Store.

I have just bought this app, after trying the light version, and I have found both versions have 4 unlabeled buttons on the files tab. If you tap my documents, you will eventually find a search field, there are 4 unlabeled buttons to the right of this, so the button labeling information needs updating for this app as only most buttons seem clearly labeled. There is also a button when you open the player that doesn't have a clear label, called header icon cross.

After having used the app some more I have found more accessibility problems. These are that when you have several files in the file browser beside each file is another unlabeled button. Far more serious though are accessibility problems with the playback screen. When I first used the app to play a file, it worked fine the screen was accessible. However, I then added another file to the app and began to play it, I then found that I couldn't navigate the playback screen at all, VoiceOver appears to be stuck, flicking doesn't move you around items on the screen, you just get the noise when there are no more items on the screen that can be flicked to. This problem seems to happen now whenever I play a file in the app, and exiting it from the app switcher doesn't help, I tried disabling and enabling the simple playback screen switch under settings but it doesn't seem to help. its a shame as I like this app, one thing I think is really nice is that it seems able to remember the position you were last listening to for individual files, so you can listen to one file, then listen to another and it will resume each file correctly at the point you last stop listening. I would like to contact the developer, but I really don't feel like registering on the forum just to contact them about the problems. I could have easily scene myself switching to this app if the issues could be fixed, but I am not jumping through hoops just to contact them.

VoiceOver improvements are definitely to be welcomed. As far as I can see the improvement seems to be that all buttons are now clearly labeled. However, the playback interface seems to have real accessibility issues still, basically I can't navigate it at all. I have contacted the developer and thanked them for the VoiceOver improvement of button labels, and explained that the playback interface seems totally unusable at the moment. I will keep this entry updated on there response.
Hi Alex, Thanks for the updates. I've updated the button labeling accordingly in the entry. Out of curiosity, is the app usable at all? Thanks, Michael Hansen AppleVis Editorial Team

Hi, the app is very accessible up till the point where you start playing a file, the file browser is accessible along with I believe all other functions, though I haven't bothered checking out the downloader or the photo viewer. However, once you start a file playing then it is impossible to navigate the app at all, VoiceOver focus is simply stuck, all I can do is pause a file playback with a 2 finger double tap. But even when I do that focus remains stuck, its as if the playback screen isn't using standard controls. I have explained all of the above to the developer. They replied to my email asking if I had turned off the simple playback screen which I told them I had with no difference. I have also noticed that there is conflict with audio playback and VoiceOver as sometimes VoiceOver iinterrupts audio playback I have also told the developer about this issue. There is a light version of the app if people want to experient with it, but I don't know if it has been updated with these changes.

I am also unable to access any player controls. I even tried setting the player screen tobasic, but this did not improve things in the slightest. It seems as though they are definitely aware of Voiceover though, so I am confident that this will be addressed in a future update.
