Bought an Macbook Pro 15 inch 2017 with touchbar and its new 2nd generation butterfly keyboard. Unless you're planning to use an external keyboard I'd like to warn you about these new keyboards. The tiniest amount of dust or dirt can create some serious issues like keys not working or doubble or triple letters. This is a known issue, but sadly I didn't know that when I bought my first mac.
After about three or four months the problems began for me. I got triple letter k and b. After this I bought my mac to an apple store for repair under warranty. But I was sure that I wouldn't use this generation of macs anymore. So I was lucky and could sell my 2017 MBP back to the store and still get the older MBP 15-inch from 2015. The last one withtout USB-C and with a great keyboard. I'm really happy.

I'm one of the lucky ones so
I'm one of the lucky ones so far. I haven't really had anything major happen to the keyboard, knock on wood. I've had my MBP, 2016 15 inch with touch bar for a year and a half or so, and so far everything's looking good. This issue is happening to a lot of people, and unfortunately, the butterfly keyboard is here to stay like it or not I believe. You'd think apple would figure this out sooner rather than later, and make it easier to repair this. I mean, you have to disassemble the machine completely, put a new top case in which includes battery, and it's good to go. If you're out of warranty, it's hundreds of bucks, like $700 or so. It's bleedin ridiculous.
