Hello. On Windows I like media players with minimalistic design, but packed with features and good keyboard support. Daum Potplayer is a good example for that. Now I wonder if something like this exists for Mac? iTunes is great but the interface is too complicated for just listening music or audiobooks. What I would like to find is something that I could launch on a folder with media files and start listening and operate it with simple keystrokes. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

vlc
VLC is good for you. Enough said.
An other vote for VLC here.
An other vote for VLC here. It'll play anything you throw at it, has great VoiceOver support, supports media keys, can be remote controlled from iOS devices if need be and has a lot of additional interfaces (command line, web etc) available.

Vox is another
Vox is another media player that does work with Voice Over. How do you control VLC from your IOS device? Is there an app that would work with it? I'd like to try that out.
vlc remote
Hi
Yes, there's an app called VLC remote. There's both a free and paid version available. Alternatively, you can set up VLC's web interface and control it through safari if you're into that.

plaing music in VLC
I have a question.
How can I add several music directories to VLC at once?
Now I have to enter every directory of inputs, select files and open.
I would like to set up on the catalog and choose to play all or add to VLc from the menu.
Just like on the Windows can Foobar.
Can you do it?
IINA is good
Maybe IINA, a relatively new media player, will fit. Here's their site: https://lhc70000.github.io/iina/
