Seeking Testers for TED Talks app

Dear Applevis readers,

My name is Cleo and I am part of the mobile app team at TED. We are searching for visually impaired testers owning an iOS device to test our TED Talks mobile app. It is important for us to be accessibility compliant and we would love to get feedback on our app.

We think that our implementation of VoiceOver is pretty good, but we would like a review of all parts of the app to make sure it’s user friendly. So any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Note: At this time, the TED app does not support dynamic type, just VoiceOver.

The update description says it all:
TED, Today, This release of TED for iOS is focused on accessibility and improving our universal link support. After the last few releases, we are excited to have achieved near 100% VoiceOver support in our app. If you're a VoiceOver or Switch Control user, please get in touch and let us know how we can continue to improve our support for you! Here's what's changed since our last release: - The number of search results found will be announced via VoiceOver as you type in the search field. - When the "Reduce Transparency" accessibility setting is enabled, the contrast between a talk's poster image and any text appearing atop it will be increased. - The TED logo is now an accessibility element when used in a navigation bar. - We improved the format of our accessibility labels for the duration of a talk or playlist. - The structure of accessibility elements on the playlist screen has been improved. - The accessibility label for a featured talk's play button has been improved to provide more detail and additional context. - In the video player, the quick seek buttons now have accessibility labels that indicate the seek duration. - Our audio player is now accessible using VoiceOver and Switch Control. - Direct manipulation of the video player's playhead position slider is now possible when using VoiceOver. - Video playback controls will no longer auto-hide after a delay when using VoiceOver or Switch Control. Controls will hide when playback is resumed. - An accessibility label has been provided for the playlist "Play all" button. - There was a crash that could occur while rotating an iPad, so we fixed that. - We fixed a few visual issues in our audio player. - We improved our universal link support so that any content we can't load in-app will push you to a Safari view. I emailed in feedback a while ago but didn't get a reply, think I also offered to beta test as well. It will be interesting to see if any of my suggestions have been acted on, but its great to see comprehensive notes for a new version I get really annoyed with lazy apps like facebook and whatsapp that just say bug fixes without spelling out what changes have been made, and its great to see an accessibility focused update.

the developers of this app seem very on the ball with watching this thread, literally a few minutes after I made my last comment saying I had had no reply from them I got a response, so it shows they are definitely listening and interested in what we have to say, I still haven't had the update come through on my appstore yet but sometimes it takes a few days.

Just got the update, awesome job by the developers, thank you!, haven't fully tested it but works great so far for me, a very welcome improvement to such a good app

The accessibility of the TED app is excellent! You guys did an awesome job. Thanks a lot!
One thing I'm curious about is in the discover tab, there's text that says "today, I'd like to learn about" and then a button with a random subject, but the button's label changes sometimes when one swipes back on it. Is there a way to select more subjects there, or is this a random tag being picked out from the tags button at the bottom?

I'm in the uk and the past few updates I haven't been able to read or find the button to say no to pass code. My friend has the same problem. Both using iphone se.

Did you mean to post your question about passcodes to this topic, as it seems to be unrelated (unless I am missing something).

If it is unrelated to this topic, you should start a new thread ... and also provide a little more information, as it's unclear what you are referring to.
