OLED Display and Screen Curtain Question

I know that at least until the iPhones with the OLED displays, turning the screen curtain on with Voiceover did not work as a battery saving strategy. I would like to know if the screen curtain feature will now also decrease one’s battery drain if he/she is using an iPhone with an OLED display.

Hi, I just got the new iPhone X the other day. From what I know about OLED displays, if there's a black spot in the display, or if the display is black, then there is no light being used. As OLED displays do not use any form of backlight as opposed to the LCD displays, you should be good for using screen curtain on your new iPhone. Personally OLED is the way to go for future display tech. Plus there's less energy being used to run the screen

On my iPhone 7 having the screen curtain on makes a big difference to my battery life, this was true for my previous iPhone 5S, don't know about the X but without question it makes a difference in the previous models

I would also be interested to know if the new screen tech does in fact make a difference since I'm considering the iPhone 12. I could also just put a new battery in my XR sffce battery life has taken a huge hit since upgrading to iOS14 and my phone now gives me the battery service message.

How much more battery life do you get on an OLED phone by keeping screen curtain on? is that offset by VoiceOver constantly chattering away?
