Has anybody tried the latest release of the Uber app?

Hello,
Has anyone tried the new Uber app? They have redesigned it. It still appears from what I can see to be accessible, however I've not requested a ride yet to see if the trip screen is also still accessible. I would imagine it is but has anyone used it yet to confirm?

There is a new service available in some markets called Express Pool. https://www.uber.com/ride/express-pool/ The idea is to presumably lower the fares even further but passengers may be required to walk to a pick up location or be dropped off at some point away from their destination. The rationale is that the car will spend less time veering off course to provide a shared ride experience and make it more efficient. In my market, the fare was about half of the Uber Pool price. It does not replace regular Uber Pool or Uber X options.

Has anybody tried it yet? I hear VoiceOver announce the option but I’m not sure how VoiceOver handles the information for pick up and drop off locations. Does it give you an exact address to walk to? Does the app tell you exactly where it will drop you off?

Thanks

I've tried it. Voiceover will tell you what corner to go to, but not what side of the street, and it won't give you directions. I think express pool is really problematic for us because unless you're a great traveller (which I'm not), it's hard or next to impossible to walk to the pickup point in the allotted time, even if you use another app to find the corner. I even think this is discrimination because we don't have access to the lower prices, and at least in Boston, regular pool has gone up.

In most countries, you will pick the Uber up on the right side of the street. The corner will only determine if the stop is near side or far side. A four way intersection has four corners: you know which one you're standing on by knowing which directions you can go to without crossing. So if you are on a corner that will take you north or east without crossing, it its the north east corner. You need to have a bit of cardinal orientation. Hope this helps.
