Hello. I am running the latest IOs update on my iPad Pro 9.7 and am having a strange issue with safari or sometimes other browsers that VoiceOver restarts, so if I want to go to the first heading, it will start something, but then it just says ”Landscape, screen curtain on” and I cannot do anything on the page. How do I solve this if there is a way. Sometimes it helps to restart my iPad or hard reset it but this is becoming tedius.

Lock orientation?
Hi,
I am not sure if this is the solution to your problem using Safari. You may want to lock your orientation by going to your control center which you can access through your status bar. Flicking up with three fingers, go to the right and you will come across the choice to lock your orientation. Like I mentioned above, I am not sure if this is the remedy to the issue you're dealing with. I have an IPhone8 and randomly, while I am in any app, it falls silent for a couple of seconds, and then states: "Voiceover, screen curtain on"! It does not say "landscape" though.
I hope this helps a little.
Best regards and happy holidays from Hala
slow down
Hi! Sometimes I have an issue in apps. It'll pause for a second, then say `landscape home button to the right`. Usually this happens if I'm swiping very quickly. Usually, once I slow down a bit, voiceover is okay. It's almost like it can't keep up with the speed!
It might also depend on how big the webpage is, how much content there is to load etc etc. Im not sure if what I'm telling you is the same issue.
However, I do have iomething you can try. This happens to me more often when my storage is low. After I free up space, it doesn't happen hardly at all after that! So you might try taking out the garbage so to speak. Free up space on your ipad and see if that works. Also, try my suggestion above too. Hope this helps! Happy Holidays!
It is not that
I am not very quick and I don’t have issues with anything except the html elements. I have the iPad locked in landscape mode and I just press something on the html document or website and then I just get the landscape, screen curtain on, thing. It is really annoying and sometimes I have to restart my iPad, quite often actually, to be able to fix this and even this doesn’t work all the time. It is a very new iPad so age is not the key.
Hmm
I get this issue on several websites including AppleVis and my book app Legimus, wich books are in HTML. I have to restart the iPad but sometimes I close all tabs and it works about 1% of the time because I need to fiddle. But I don’t know what is wrong. When trying to tap on the screen on these sites/documents, the iPad restarts voiceover or something. I hear ”Landscape. Screen curtain on” and it happens regardless of what I do. This is very annoying to have to restart my iPad and sometimes even this doesn’t work.
Happens to me with some sites...
Hello,
This happens to me once in a while but only on certain sites.
In my case, I visit a site and select Safari reader. Vo will start reading then I get the message you mentioned. Then my phone seems to stop responding. The home button does not work and hey siri does not work either. I wait about 30 seconds then press the home button once, then twice and the app switcher comes up. If I select end Safari, I have access to my phone. If I select to bring up Safari insterad of end task, my phone is stuck again. Given enouh time, the page loads and my phone acts normally.
When I use Chrome, this does not happen so I suspect it has something to do with how Safari handles some HTML codes. Have you tried a different browser?
HTH and good luck.
More serious problem than mine
I have this problem on Chrome and legimus too. My phone does not lock. Actually I have this problem on my iPad because I haven’t tried on the iPhone. I can use the tabs and address bar and the row where it says back, forward, tabs and new tabs and stuff but the websites or books on Legimus lock. It just says landscape screen curtain on but I can easily get out of the window. So I doubt this is Safari. I have cleared all safari history to see if this helps. I am not sure but thought I would try this at least in case it works. I will keep you updated about how it worked.
Reset history
Reseting the history in Safari settings seems to work. But I don’t see how that makes sence since this problem occurs when using Legimus, Chrome or Firefox.
