This is extremely sad news.

Although I didn't know Chris personally, I do know what he brought to AppleVis, and that was a lot.

You need only look at the current comments on Twitter to know that Chris enriched the lives of so many, and that he will be sorely missed.

My thoughts go out to all of Chris' family and friends.

RIP @Toonhead

For as long as I can remember, Chris (Toonhehead) was a regular contributor to AppleVis. He was always on the site, answering questions; contributing to discussions; and just helping out wherever he could in general. While we had a dedicated podcast team, Chris was a member; most memorably for me, he was a panelist on what I would consider one of the best AppleVis Extras I've had the honor of leading. To those who knew Chris much better than I did, please accept my condolences and prayers.

Chris, AKA, Toonhead loved people and helping when he could. He was a good guy and I will always remember the good times we had.

I had never met Chris in person, but whenever I talked to him or even just interacted via comments on forums like this, he was always kind and seemed to enjoy contributing to the conversation and/or helping others to figure things out. He also kept it real and didn't sugar coat things, a trait I like. May he rest in peace. My condolences to his close friends and family.

I didn't know Chris but have seen many of his posts here on applevis and social media. He was always very helpful with answers to difficult tech questions. He will be missed.

Didn't he just post something on how many keystrokes it took to spellcheck text in iOS? Chris had a good sense of humor and I always made it a point to read his posts. You will be missed, Chris. My condolences to his family and friends.

I did not have the pleasure to meet Toonhead, but by reading his posts you could tell he was a great guy. My prayers and condolences go out to the family, friends and all who had the pleasure and the fortune to meet him.

I had gotten to read his posts on here, as well as the Window-Eyes email list when Window-Eyes existed. If I remember correctly, he even replied to some of my posts on there before. I will miss him as well. My sincerest condolences to his friends who knew him, and his family.

Rest in peace.

Hi all. This is indeed very sad news. I got a tweet from Liam Erven last night and just stopped what I was doing in total shock. I remember seeing him on here and many other places around the net contributing to 1 thing or another. He always had an awesome writing style and was willing to help anyone in any way he could. I'm sad he has left us, but, he is in a better place now. I will always remember the things he gave to us all. My deepest prayers go out to his friends and family.

Very sad to hear, I didn't really get to know him very much, but in the short space of time I have been visiting AppleVis, I noticed he was a great poster and had a lot of help and advice to give to everyone. He also helped us tremendously with feedback about our app, all of which was well thought out and extremely useful.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
Rest in peace.

Wow. I was wondering why I haven’t seen him post here in applevis recently. Now I have my answer.

While I didn’t know him personally, the bits and pieces he posted here in applevis about himself gave me an idea of who he was. While we disagreed at times, he brought balance, kindness and help to those who needed it or not. Whether someone asked for help or opinion, he gave it to them. His posts made me think, laugh and at times mad but that was who he was and I’m glad to have read his posts.

So long, my forum friend. May you rest in peace.

Chris was the first blind person I ever interacted with online back in 2002. He ran Winamp4theblind and was always both welcoming and patient with new users. I've never met him in-person, but have gotten to "know" him quite well online over the past 15 years. His sense of humor and willingness to help others will be very much missed on AppleVis and other online places.
