You need to turn on the personal hotspot feature. Once you do this, you'll be able to connect your computer to your phone either via Wifi or USB, and use your phone's internet. Be aware that you may encur extra charges from your wireless carrier for this feature, so check with them first.
yes you need to contact your phone provider to enable the feature once that is dun then you can turn the hotspot and use it.

Hi unfortunately cannot do this. Because I was grandfathered in with the unlimited data plan because I have my phone number for so long. I really do wish though, that I could use my phone as a modem for my computer. I guess this is not possible, at least now.

Hi. Personal Hotspot is located just below Bluetooth in Settings. You need to have wi-fi switched on on both devices. Open Personal Hotspot and switch it on. Below the switch button it will tell you the password for the hotspot. Go to your computer and search for wi-fi networks and you should see your iPhone in the list. Join this network like you would any other network using the password mentioned above. You might need to contact your carrier to get it switched on, and it may or may not cost extra. You'll also have to watch your data usage of course if you're on a limited data plan. It is a great feature though. I'm lucky enough to have unlimited data and free hotspotting and use it a fair bit. It's not always quite as fast as you'd like but generally fine.
