Introducing myself.

iOS and iPadOS
Hello! My name is Liz, and I am a totally blind person who just ordered the IPhone 4S. A friend of mine guided me to this site, and I know that I will have a lot of questions as a new user of the IPhone. I will start asking now. 1. When texting, can I talk the text into the phone or do I need to use the touch screen to text? I have the same question for e-mailing as well. 2. If any one has any aps that are accessible that they find fun or helpful, I am all ears. The IPhone is unchartered territory for me, but now that I know about this site, it will be less daunting to get used to my new phone.

Hi, Liz. Yes, you can indeed dictate into text fields with the 4S. This applies to any text field, mind, and is not specific to text messaging or email. i'm not sure how much configuration is necessary to get Siri up and running, since I do not own a 4S. As far as apps go, this site is full of suggestions. You can browse the iOS app directory, and while doing so, you can filter your results to show only certain kinds of apps. On top of that, you can also restrict results to certain accessibility levels. I hope this has helped, Shersey

I just ordered a couple of accessories for my phone. I ordered a case and a Blue Tooth keyboard. Has anyone used a blue tooth keyboard with their phone, and if so, is it helpful?

Hi Liz, congrats on the phone. Keyboard work well. However, one of the 1st apps you should buy is Fleksy. That's spelled F L E K S Y, it's a keyboard designed for the blind. You can test before purchase.

I vaguely remember hearing about a money detector ap that will tell you which bills are which. Is there such an ap?
Hi, Liz, Yes, there are indeed apps to identify money out there. You may be thinking for Looktell's Money reader app. Athat the time of writing, this app costs $10 USD. There are frae alteratives, but I believe that they require you to take a picture. The Money Reader app just uses the video functionofthe camera, so you just have to launch the app,, and it immediately starts scanning for money. Thanks, Shersey
oMoby Is a free solution that helps with the identification of money. I usually find it recognizes bills once they are positioned in front of the camera.
