In order to find your user ID, go to the menu tab, settings, account details, and its under the API heading. Please note: I will need your user ID, but NOT your API token. Your API token is used to link Habitica to 3rd party extensions and should not be widely shared.

Hello,
I am enjoying this game, it's a way to have fun, together with keeping up with tasks and healthy habits. I do not like role play games themselves, but this is different from others: the role play is our real life!
Let me give my userID so if someone wants to invite me, feel free to

hello, I received an invitation from a user called tangela
But when I enter the "party" section and attempt to push "accept", I get an alert, "you can't join if you are not invited"
But, the user did invite me; I got the e-mail and clicked on the link!

By Tangela on Monday, October 23, 2017 - 14:47

I'm sorry. Recently, we've had issues with people creating accounts to power level, which isn't a problem in itself except that when they enter quests, it means the rest of us can't participate. Currently there's no way for me to remove problem people from the party without the help of admin, which is time consuming and inefficient. I'm still more than happy to answer questions here or via pm, but until I have the ability to edit party members, I can't in good conscience allow people into the group with the potential to break things for the entire group.

By Tangela on Monday, October 23, 2017 - 14:47

The developers are aware of this issue and have stated a fix is planned, so hopefully this will be only a temporary restriction.

As far as I know, no vi guild exists yet. I'm working on making that happen, but as yet haven't. I had opened my party to serve as the hubb for it, but see last comment for an explanation of why that is no longer precisely the case.

Sabrina, what questions do you have? I'm more than happy to answer questions, but if you don't ask specific questions I have no way to know what you need help with.

You can find a wiki at http://habitica.wikia.com/wiki/Habitica_Wiki which explains a lot of the concepts and offers tips. Often, you can find what you need by simply doing a google search for term/concept habitica wiki.

I'm happy to answer questions as I've said, but specific questions about how to do things accessibly on the app once you're familiar with the general principle from the wiki is the best method.

By Sabrina on Monday, October 23, 2017 - 14:47

I have gotten the hang of creating the habits now. I would appreciate recomendations of positive ones because my brain is tangled and I am not good at these things. The interface is awesome. I would like as many recomendations for todo, habits and dailies. I am aweful at thinking of such things when I need them. :-) But I ha ve gotten the hang of most things. I am looking forward to it when I can actually join a party. That will be awesome. I like games like this. This and Plant Nanny are my favourites because they are very useful.

By Tangela on Monday, October 23, 2017 - 14:47

A lot of times those are based on your rl goals. You can check the wiki for some sample todos, dailies and habits, or look for guilds related to your goals and interests which often have community tasks you can use.

Please do note the difference between a party and guild. Parties are smaller and more loosely organized, as well as generally having no specific purpose.

By Sabrina on Monday, October 23, 2017 - 14:47

What do I use gold for? And is it possible for your character to die? It is probably a stupid question but I am not willing to try that. Rofl. I guess it is possible to actually die. Because if health drops to 0 you probably die.

By Tangela on Monday, October 23, 2017 - 14:47

Hi. Yes, it is possible for your character to die. In the event of your death, you will lose: â—¾ One level, plus all XP they had accumulated toward the next level
â—¾ One attribute point from a random attribute, which is regained when they regain the level (it will have to be re-assigned)
â—¾ All of their gold points (GP)
â—¾ One piece of current class or non-class specific equipment

All these are if applicable, and taken from the habitica wiki.

Now, on to good news. Gold can be used to buy items in the rewards column of the app. This can be things like health potions or new equipment/armor. You can also sell eggs, potions, scrolls, etc. from your inventory to gain more gold.

By Sabrina on Monday, October 23, 2017 - 14:47

Thank you. I didn’t want to try killing my character just because I wanted to know. Lol. I love this useful game. I like combining useful with games.

By Molly on Monday, October 23, 2017 - 14:47

Hi, I'm quickly becoming addicted to this game to! I have always liked lists, so this is perfect.
I submitted a bug report to the developers, when I open a challenge description there doesn't appear to be a way to close it with voiceover on. I turn VO off and tap in the upper left corner to do this. The developer got back to me promptly and said this will be fixed in the next update.

There has been a new update for this app. I just thought I would post it.

I've been playing with this game for a while. I finally made it to level 10. I'd like to be added to the party. My user ID is 894bfdd8-34c7-4693-9a97-4c14ab726fbe

In an earlier post, Tangela told us that they didn’t add anyone to the party untill something had been fixed. I don’t recall what that was though.

Hey everyone :)
Since their huge accessibility update last fall,I have been an avid player of Habitica. I absolutely enjoy having a gamified planning system and it really works for me to make progress on my goals and projects.

However, as of now I unfortunately couldn't find a guild for blind, visually impaired or even disabled players - so I decided to make my own :)

If you would like to join the Blind Bohemians of Habitica, leave me a comment with your user ID or simply click the following link:
https://habitica.com/groups/guild/fc8b250a-2fe9-4ef0-b8d9-bb6464060576

I am looking forward to meet you over there in the streets of Habitica :)

By Jim Homme on Monday, April 23, 2018 - 14:47

Hi. I'm looking for advice about how to get started, but I don't know what to ask. Helpful, eh? Should I start by putting in something like one daily task I want to do then go from there? I'm probably even using the wrong terms.

Thanks.

Jim

By Christina on Monday, April 23, 2018 - 14:47

Hi,

At first, Habitica can seem quite confusing. It may help to check out the help links in the Tavern. When you go to guilds then tavern, you can swipe with three fingers to go between the chat and the help information which has buttons for new users to get started.
It's best to start with a few daily's and habits because, if you aren't on top of things and have too many daily's to complete, you will receive damage to your avatar's health by not completing those. To-do's do not impact your stats negatively. Daily's not being completed will impact negatively and likewise, completing them will impact positively. Habits can be either positive, negative or a combination (ie. if you bite your nails, you can put a plus on that for days you don't do that and would put a minus for days you do it (if you miss a day, there is no impact on your stats that I'm aware of)). All of this and much more including examples of habits, to-do's and daily's can be found at www.habitica.com and in the app.
Hope this helps.

Hi Tina,
Thank you so much for that very clear explanation. It seems like when I create habits that both good and bad are selected. How do I tell if I'm making a good or bad habit?

Thanks again.

By Jim Homme on Monday, April 23, 2018 - 14:47

Hi,
It's cool that you can create Checklists and reorder them. Does anyone know how to mark checklist items complete? Can this be done?

Thanks.

Jim

By Saskia on Monday, April 23, 2018 - 14:47

Hi :)

When creating a habit, it lets you mark if you want the habit to have a positive and negative option. After creating the habit, the VoiceOver rotor lets you decide between "Score habit down" for the negative effect and "Score habit up" for the positive effect.

The checklists do currently not work properly with VoiceOver - theoretically you should be able to expand a task to watch the checklist items and check items off, but VoiceOver cannot read the lists at the moment and does not have the necessary commands in the rotor.

However, I have been in contact with the Habitica team about the checklists and they have told me that they want to fix the checklists issue in an upcoming update, so I'm quite excited for that :)

Hope this helps :)

Hi, I hope someone is still watching this thread as I decided to check out this app only now. Is it just me, or does registration not work with VO in the most recent version? There seems to be no accessible way for me to move on from the what should we call you screen. There is just the title, the labels for display name and user name, the actual text fields for these, and then a probably prewritten message from a Justin dev. :-) It says that once I am all set, I will proceed to creating my avatar, but there is no way to dismiss this message or get any sort of a next or ok button or something like that, even after I click the done button in the bottom right corner of the on-screen keyboard in both fields. Does anyone have any clues, or is this really a recent broken accessibility issue? Thanks, Lukas

By maxi on Saturday, March 23, 2019 - 14:47

how do i get past the "i'm your guide to habitica" screen where it shows my username and display name?

By Lukas on Saturday, March 23, 2019 - 14:47

I only managed to solve this by logging into my account from the web and filling out some info, then returning to the app. I imagine starting with the registration on the web, before first launching the app, and then only logging in from within the app once the registration was complete would be a much easier way to solve this issue.
It would be nice, though, if they fixed this in an upcoming update.

I am seeing a problem with adding reminders to tasks. I select a time and click save, then get told that a time has to be selected. Has anyone else experienced this, or know what needs to be done to get reminders to work?

By Ramy on Thursday, September 23, 2021 - 14:47

I registered today, but, after i enter my email and user, i got a screen to put my display name, i did, and there is no next or any button to pass this,
i closed the app and open it again with no success.
any ideas?
