Adding files to garage band

Hi, I’m trying to add files to garage band, so that I can put the microphone on the file. Every time I go into the location, either iCloud or Dropbox and I select the song, by double tapping and holding, it doesn’t add the file. I’ve even done it with MP3 files. I’m using my ipod. Any advice would be appreciated.

Where specifically are you trying to add files? If You are adding files or trying to add them from the new song menu and selecting import from iCloud drive, that is incorrect. That is only for importing GarageBand files with the dot BAND extension.
If you want to add files, you must open the audio recorder, select the tracks menu, select loops, and select audio files.
Scroll down to import from iCloud drive, then find your song and drag it. The song will not go to your track directly, it will appear in the audio files menu. Now, just drag it in again, and there you have it.
Hope this helps.

Use M4A files if possible, they work better and sound better than the MP3 ones. The MP3 ones are still good to use, don't get me wrong. But I've found M4A files to be a really good format to use in GarageBand.

Thanks for the comments, so I went to loops, audio files and then selected the file. I double tapped on the song with a finger but nothing happened, so what do I do now?how do I drag it? It only appeared in the first section that I mentioned.

There should be a button named "GliffImportFile, button". Double-tap that. If you need any help, please don't hesitate to ask.
