Good day, the messaging app on my Iphone 6S is playing up since upgrading to Ios11. Deleting messages has become very tricky. I have to double tap ona item a few times after selecting the delete option before something happens. It then deletes the message and also closes the app. Is there a way out of this?

known bug
hi, that is a known bug. the way to do things for now is to do it the sighted way, either by swiping it off the screen, or the easier way, press the edit button, tap each one you want to delete, then press the delete button down the bottom.
Flick down to get the delete option
Using IOS 11.03 on iPhone 5S, open messages app. focus on the message you wish to delete, one finger swipe down till you here delete single tap to confirm action. Note: you will here null after deleting the message, this is a bug already noticed by many if you close your app. and reopen it will be gone
Ios11.03 and messages?
Good day, I follow the exact steps you reckomend, but, My 6S does not delete the messages at all, they stay there intact. If I double tap on a message a second time it sometimes deletes it and closes the app.
