I have been trying to get ring tones onto my 5SE but I am not getting anywhere. I have the files but when I save them to the Itunes library, it does not show up on the phone when I check it I am using JAWS which does not give me access to the checkboxes for including and excluding things that are included in any symnc. does anybody have a step by step method which points itunes to the right space.

hi there, the latest itunes does not in fact have an area for tones to be added to the library any more. what you need to do, is connect your phone, and wait for the phone to show up in itunes. press the iphone button, and then you'll be entered into the phones panels of information. go to the tree view sidebar thing, and go down to tones. move over to the list view, which will either be empty, or contain some tones you have on the phone already. now, you need to copy the tones from file explorer or finder on mac, which ever machine you're using. then paste them into the list view of itunes. that should then start them copying over to the phone. it's easy enough to do once you've done it once or twice.
hope the mac works the same way for those using a mac, i'm basing this on my windows usage. i'm guessing that the mac would work pretty much exactly the same.

yes, the process described above should work. Unfortunately the iTunes interface is miserable for reliably knowing what is actually synced and to where. Even sighted users have problems with iTunes.

In addition, I find that tones are often automatically deleted either by an upgrade of iOS or something else. Then it is a real chore to figure out the iTunes UI again and put those tones back on.

I don't understand what is so difficult about syncing, but Apple seems to have found a way to make it hard.
