Is anyone having battery performance issues with the new IOS update? After the update, I am loosing battery quite a bit faster than before the update. For example, my battery went from 100 percent to 88 percent in about 2 hours or so. I was on the phone for a couple of quick calls and checking a few emails, no vidios or music.

Hi,
No battery issues here. Which phone do you have, an iPhone 7 or older? the reason I'm asking is maybe the battery in it is starting to go. These batteries seem to last around two years or so before they conk out.

you're not the only one, I'm using a 6S and I notice a huge drain on battery when these major updates come out.

They manage to fix it later, at least they did when iOS 10 was released.

For me the culprit appears to be the setting screen and safari.

I turned off auto brightness and set it to 0 and it helped somewhat.

I don't know what else to do, apart from wait for more patches.

I have the iphone8 and feel that I have the same problem. the battery doesn't last for a single day. although I don't use GPS a lot just may listen to music or audiobook and check emails and make phone calls. I'm waiting till the next week to make sure that the device doesn't have a problem.

Hi All,
Anyone experiencing battery problems would be well advised to ensure that all Apps are kept updated and to be suspicious of any Apps that have not been optimised for the latest IOS.
Every year at this time, i have at least one battery killer whose dev has not yet optimised their App for the latest OS.

I have an My wife and I both have Iphone SE's and have noticed differences in battery performance since the update. I first thought that maybe she had a problem with her battery, but then mine also was drainning faster than normal. Glad we are not alone, and that it is not all our batteries.

My phone is still holding its battery life when in use, but it isn't charging properly despite checking everything is plugged in and turned on properly. It says "charging" but it takes 2 or more attempts of taking out the charge lead, inserting it again and finally, after the 3rd attempt tonight its showing signs of charging albeit slower than usual.

Hello,

If you suspect it’s your battery, get an app from the app store called battery life. It gives you an idea about your battery condition.

While you wait for an update, you can try cycling your battery. Use your device until it turns off. Turn your device back on and use until it turns off. Repeat until the device no longer turns on. Charge overnight using the original cable and adapter. Repeat the above two times.

HTH and good luck.

Go to settings, battery, and check your usage times, also check to see what app (if any) is killing the battery or using most of it. If your background usage is really high, this probably means an app running in the background is killing your battery. Please be sure that all your apps are up to date, as not having an app up to date with the latest OS could cause various issues, especially if there have been changes to APIs or internal rutines that the app in questions uses or depends on.

Also, try turning off your phone for a few minutes, and then turning it back on, check usage after a while, see how fast the battery is draining.

Another thing to try, let your battery die completely, such that the phone shuts off on you. Then plug in the charger, and when the phone turns on, turn it back off and let it charge for about an hour or so while it's off. Do this 2 or 3 times, se if it helps.

Also, do keep in mind that certain activities kill the battery faster, such as extensively using wifi or Bluetooth (keeping radios on longer), playing music or other audio through the phone speakers for extended time (using the onboard amp requires power, especially the louder you play the audio). It is normal after an update for the battery to die faster, as the new OS indexes things and files/services are updated, so it might use wifi for example in the background more than during normal use. But once the phone has charged, things should get back to normal.
